IPL 2023: SRH vs DC, Match 34: Pitch Report, Probable XI and Match Prediction

SRH lost their last game to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets, DC registered a convincing victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Abhishek Sharma top-scored for SRH with 34 runs off 26 deliveries in the match against CSK. However, no other batter could get going from the Hyderabad-based team, and they eventually ended up on a below-par total. Although Mayank Markande picked two wickets for his side in the contest, SRH failed to defend the target and eventually lost to Chennai. Meanwhile, David Warner shined for DC in their win over KKR. Warner scored a resilient fifty in the run chase comprising eleven boundaries. Among bowlers, Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two scalps each for Delhi in the first innings.

SRH are currently on the ninth spot of the IPL 2023 points table and will look to make a comeback by defeating DC on Monday. On the other hand, the Delhi-based team are on the last position with just one win in six matches and will aim to carry the momentum they got in their previous game.

Pitch report:

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is a batter-friendly venue. However, bowlers can also receive help from the surface if they bowl in the right areas. The dew factor will play a role in the game as well, and a high-scoring match is expected to take place.

Probable XIs:

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (c), Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Umran Malik

Delhi Capitals: David Warner (c), Philip Salt (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Aman Hakim Khan, Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar

Head-to-head record

Played: 21 | SRH won: 11 | DC won: 10 | No result: 01

Match Prediction:

Case 1:

  • SRH wins the toss and bowls first
  • Powerplay score: 40-45
  • DC total: 175-185

Case 2:

  • DC wins the toss and bowls first
  • Powerplay score: 50-55
  • SRH total: 190-195

Team bowling first to win the contest most of the time!

Details for Match --37

Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings, 37th Match

Venue: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Date & Time: Apr 27, 07:30 PM LOCAL

************

Chennai Super Kings are on a roll. They have now won three games on the trot and the last two in particular were in convincing fashion.

Royals have enjoyed a terrific record at home over the years, winning 32 out of 48 games

Pitch: The surface that was used for the only game at this venue so far was slow. You can expect the spinners from both sides to have a huge say on the outcome if a similar pitch is dished out.

Rajasthan Royals

Adam Zampa was included for the game against CSK two weeks ago. The Australian legspinner could come back in contention especially with the Royals not making great use of Jason Holder's all-round abilities.

Probable XI: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c/wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, R Ashwin, Sandeep Sharma Adam Zampa, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal

Tactics & Matchups: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane, two batters who have been in great form for CSK, have had issues against Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal in the past.

Chennai Super Kings

Ben Stokes is still not available for selection. Don't expect CSK to make any changes to their winning combination.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c/wk), Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Akash Singh

Tactics & Matchups: Royals' run rate has come down drastically in the middle overs recently. That is one phase of the innings where CSK can apply the squeeze with their spin attack. With the bat, the likes of Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni will fancy their chances against Trent Boult at the death given their past record.

*******

I am trying my best to give vital information to members who are staying in different time zones. So that they can submit prediction without any inconvenience. 😊

Best wishes to all the participants.❤️

PBKS vs LSG, Match Prediction – Predicted Winner of IPL 2023 Match 38 - myKhel

Details and Probable Playing 11 for Match 38--

Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants, 38th Match

Venue: Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali

Date & Time: Apr 28, 07:30 PM LOCAL

************

Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings are neither on a rise nor on a decline. They are inconsistent. Not surprisingly, in a tightly-packed points table, they are mid-tablers like Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore - only separated by Net Run Rate.

What to expect from the Pitch: The temperature is expected to remain on the cooler side with cloudy conditions. Barring the opening game, in which PBKS smashed 191, most other teams have registered scores in the range of 150-175.

Punjab Kings

Injured/Unavailable: Shikhar Dhawan and Kagiso Rabada have been out of the team for the last few games. The team is yet to give an update on their availability.

Tactics & Matchups: Kyle Mayers has struggled against left-arm pace this season, striking at 87.88. PBKS has the option of using Sam Curran as well as Arshdeep Singh to keep the left-hander quiet in the powerplay.

Probable XI: Atharva Taide, Matthew Short, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh.

Impact Substitute: Prabhsimran Singh or Arshdeep Singh could be used as the substitute based on what happens at the toss

Lucknow Super Giants:

Injured/Unavailable: Mark Wood has been out of the side for the last few games. LSG are yet to provide an update on his injury status.

Tactics & Matchups:Nicholas Pooran has been highly successful against left-arm pacers - smashing at 189.38. The contest in the death overs against between him and the duo of Arshdeep Singh and Sam Curran should be interesting

Probable XI: KL Rahul (c), Kyle Mayers/Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Ayush Badoni, Naveen-ul-Haq, Shivam Mavi, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan

Impact Substitute: K Gowtham or Amit Mishra could be swapped with Ayush Badoni, depending on whether LSG bat or bowl first.

1 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Gujarat Titans, 39th Match

Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Date & Time: Apr 29, 03:30 PM LOCAL

KKR and GT top the charts currently for most wickets among wrist spinners in this IPL and the clash at the Eden Gardens will be a battle of one-upmanship between the spinners of both sides.

What to expect: As many as four 200-plus totals have been scored in only six innings at the Eden Gardens so far, with 222 being the average first innings total. The team batting first has won each of the three matches but those were all evening games and it remains to be seen if the conditions differ for the afternoon match.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Shardul Thakur bowled an extended spell and also batted during practice before the game in Bengaluru but did not play the game as he was still recovering from a niggle. But Cricbuzz has learnt that he is 'ready and available now', and is likely to replace Vaibhav Arora unless KKR opt to leave out Umesh who has been bagged only one wicket and has an economy of close to 10.

Tactics & match-ups: Shardul could prove an effective option against Shubman Gill, having dismissed him twice and conceding only 36 runs off 32 balls against the GT opener. Narine has dismissed Wriddhiman Saha four times and could be used early by KKR when they are bowling.

Probable XI: N Jagadeesan (wk), Jason Roy, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana (c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, David Wiese, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy. Impact sub - Suyash Sharma.

Gujarat Titans

The Hardik Pandya-led team are likely to stick to the same combination that won them the last two matches.

Tactics & match-ups: Andre Russell averages only 3.67 against Rashid Khan, with a strike rate of 61.11, and has been dismissed three times by the Afghanistan legspinner. GT are likely to focus on this match-up and turn to Pandya who has dismissed Nitish Rana twice.

Probable XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya (c), Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmad, Mohit Sharma

2 Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 40th Match

Venue: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

Date & Time: Apr 29, 07:30 PM LOCAL

At the core of their struggles, for both the teams, has been that missing spark in batting. DC have managed to snap their five-match losing streak they started the season with, with two wins on the bounce now but Warner has been over-burdened at the top of the order and the only one consistently among runs.

What to expect: The captains have preferred chasing in Delhi, and been successful on all three occasions thus far in the season. Weatherwise, Delhi has been a bit kind by its summer standards with temperatures still hovering only in the early 30s and a bit of a shower around occasionally. A cloudy day with 20% precipitation chances is forecast for Saturday.

Delhi Capitals

Like he told the press, Ponting, alongwith Warner, had a lengthy 25-minute sit-down with the DC batting group on the sidelines of their practice session on match eve. Both the Australians addressed the group, which Ponting had earlier said would be about trying to address why the good work in the nets is not really translating into success on the field. Otherwise, the hosts are unlikely to make any tweaks to their winning combination. Mukesh Yadav proved an excellent Impact Sub and would likely be reprising the role.

Tactics & match-ups: Kotla is another ground David Warner absolutely loves, having scored 885 runs here, including seven fifties and a hundred, in 31 outings. At no. 5, the DC captain is the only batter from the side among the top-15 batters. But his season strike-rate of just 119.53 would be a cause of concern for the side.

Probable XI: David Warner (C), Philip Salt (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Manish Pandey, Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel, Aman Hakim Khan, Ripal Patel, Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma

Sunrisers Hyderabad

With Washington ruled out, SRH could look to strengthen their batting with a proper batter/finisher at no. 7 instead and have him swapped for an Impact Sub (or vice-versa, depending on whether they bat first or bowl). Having chipped in two unbeaten cameos earlier in the season, Abdul Samad could be the frontrunner to fill in. Meanwhile, Brook spent his time in the nets stepping out often and tonking quite a few of them down the ground, and a couple over the non-existent keeper's head - more so against slower bowlers, in anticipation of what DC will likely be throwing at him tomorrow.

Tactics & match-ups: Aiden Markram (SR: 245.45) and Rahul Tripathi (SR: 200) have the wood on Kuldeep Yadav, making this middle-overs tussle one to watch-out for where the conditions could actually be in the favour of the spinner.

Probable XI: Abhishek Sharma, Harry Brook, Aiden Markram (C), Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Marco Jansen, Abdul Samad, Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik
