🏏WPL 2023: UP Warriorz W vs Mumbai Indians Women : Match 10🏏
Inarguably the strongest spin-attack in the competition vs the team with the breakout spin star of the tournament!
UP Warriorz will 'host' Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne's batting paradise today, aiming to snap the table-toppers' dream run in the league and continue their winning streak.⭐️
Mumbai are unbeaten so far - beating Gujarat Giants (143 runs), Royal Challengers Bangalore (9 wickets) and Delhi Capitals (8 wickets) comprehensively and making all those contests almost boring, one-sided affairs. ⭐️
Left-arm spinner Saika Ishaque has been a standout performer with the ball and the current Purple Cap holder, while Hayley Matthews is only second in the Orange Cap race.
That the team has barely put a foot wrong despite Harmanpreet Kaur's rotten luck with the three tosses is truly down to the depth of their XI that has all bases covered.
MI have as many as four of their bowlers in the top-10 wicket-takers of the tournament, and are the only team to have claimed all 30 of the opposition's wickets.
As such, Alyssa Healy's season-best 96* came at just the right time for the Warriorz.
Their captain being back among runs will be a big relief for the side wose batting seemed a tad unsettled, what with a number of players not contributing sufficiently in the early part of the competition.
The misfiring opening combination led to a change with the Warriorz promoting Devika Vaidya that got the left-right combination going for them. Although, Healy nearly single-handedly drove the sub-par chase in their 10-wicket thrashing of RCB.
That victory, however, was set up by Warriorz's envious spin attack which has Sophie Ecclestone, Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad bowling in tandem.
The troika returned combined figures of 8 for 65 in the 11.3 overs between them, claiming all of RCB wickets that fell (the remaining two were run-outs) on a track that still had plenty in it for the batters if they applied themselves and little for bowlers of any variety.
