IMP!! Announcement [Fan Fiction Migration]

Dear IFians,

We are thrilled to announce that our current Fan Fiction Section is bustling with new stories! 

Recently, we hit another major milestone of 2000 stories and we'd like to thank each of you for choosing IF to host your stories. 

We would also like to thank Vijay, the IF Technical Team, Fan Fiction Editors, Fan Fiction Graphicers and Beta Readers for their tremendous effort towards developing the Section.

We are now planning to migrate stories from Closed Forums and Completed stories from the Fan Fiction Forum and Other forums to give easy access to readers. There are many such fictional treasures that need love and appreciation but are either not getting enough exposure in a closed forum or are suppressed due to tonnes of forum activities and threads. 

Fan Fiction Editors will start to migrate these stories soon. 

Authors, do not worry -- the original posts for your stories will always remain unaltered, in the designated forum where you first posted them.

Why would you want to shift your stories to Fan Fiction Section?

1) The primary reason is - you get to filter stories according to your likes and tastes. Stories are tagged under genre, shows, and types (FF/SS/OS/etc). This means greater visibility for your stories across IF and better & easier access for readers. 

2) Chapters are easily accessible with an inbuilt index making it more convenient for you and your readers. Readers don't have to scroll through pages and pages of comments to find the post with your next chapter and you don't have to make an index linking your chapters in your first post. 

Two negatives make a positive 

3) Your readers can choose to follow you or your story, and they will automatically get notifications when you post any update, saving you the bother of sending a PM or tagging them whenever you post. Additionally, all the stories you have ever written for different fandoms will be collated, so you could find a wider audience even among your current reader base. Let's say you write for Pandya Store and GHKPM. Your readers from the GHKPM forum can access and read your stories for Pandya Store as well if they follow you. This way anything you write becomes instantly available to your followers. 

4) Your readers' comments on your stories (along with likes) in the forum are also migrated along with your stories, so you need not worry about losing the precious comments. Also, all users who commented on your stories will automatically follow you when migration is complete.

5) You will have a list of all your stories under the 'fan fiction' tab in your profile. You don't have to make a separate index for your stories. Readers can access all your stories from your profile.

6) You can tag your fiction with the name of the show, and when you do so, it will appear on the show's forum under 'FanFictions'.

7) The Technical Team is constantly developing newer features in this section designed to improve the overall experience for both readers and writers.

To summarize, as an author, when your stories are migrated, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

We hope all writers cooperate with us in this process and help us in developing the section and building our repository of rich, diverse stories.

Just one for now, Riya. Will you be migrating all books from a forum that were un migrated  or selected ones  ?

At present, we are planning to migrate all the books/FFs which are yet to migrate from the closed forums. So that, those will be available to the authors whenever they want to add/ edit their stories/ chapters from the archived forums, and to the readers who are eager to read the stories from the closed forums.

For now, just Completed stories from Closed forums, and yes, all unmigrated stories that fit that criteria.

We will also be migrating older, completed stories from some Active forums such as FanFiction forum.

One more question.  Will the migration  be for FF only or OS and TS as well.

All completed works, they could be FF, SS, OS, TS, drabbles, poems..

Thanks for all the info Appy di.🤗 It's been a while since I've been regularly active on IF.

Do all old threads of fanfictions need to be unlocked in order to migrate the fanfictions?
