If Hirani avoids taking digs at any religion or culture then film will be spared but if he touches any culture or religion he will get backlash as RW already hates him for PK.
Also it depends on whether SRK can fit in Hirani universe. The way Aamir, Ranbir, Arshad and Sanjay did. Hirani focuses more on characters and not the star. Rather he makes actor lose his star image and fit in his characters.
It will be challenge for SRK and Hirani both, to make him fit in Hiraniverse without the baggage that a star like SRK brings.
They should rein in Taapsee though. She is a good actor but her offscreen bindaas attitude and statements get her in trouble.
If all goes well, Dunki can break records. Even if it does not, it will still be hit because Hirani has 100% success record and revived Sanjay's career. He gives hits with anyone so why not SRK?
SRK was the first choice for Munnabhai. He opted out to candy floss stuff with YRF and KJo.
SRK did really varied roles before he was grabbed by YRF and KJo.
He was outstanding in playing boy next door roles and his comic timing is good.
If the story is told in an entertaining way I'm sure it'll be a hit.
SRK is good at playing witty guy roles because he is naturally very witty

100%
I am curious as to how it goes. Rewatch values of Hirani films have gone down with each film. But still even with Sanju, he managed something that was a fun watch, even if you would never watch it again. And SRK doesn't have a great record with more fluid directors, who also tend to be his fans are unable to say no to his suggestions.
