I think a noble profession like the army should be respected

I have no idea what the web series showed that allegedly "insulted soldiers" or "hurt sentiments." Until someone addresses the substance of this topic, I can only say this:

The Supreme Court's remarks are disgraceful in any context.

The plaintiff is before the court because she got arrested. She didn't start legal proceedings; she was put in jeopardy, and she has the right to a legal defense, including an appeal to a higher court. The Supreme Court may dismiss an appeal that is frivolous, but it should never reprimand anyone for exercising her right to an appeal!

Shame on the justices if they actually said, "Every time, you travel to this court....we don't appreciate this. We will put a cost on you for filing such a petition." Their personal displeasure about how many times they see this individual shouldn't enter into their judgement on the merits of her appeal.

When the Supreme Court imposes a "cost" (monetary fine? harsher sentence than trial court?) on a rich person for lodging an appeal, it has the effect of discouraging appeals by everyone who is less rich as well. This should never happen in a democracy where the courts exist to uphold the rights and freedoms of everyone, including access to justice without undue burdens.

Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India gives every citizen the right to freedom of speech and expression. That applies to producers of fiction deciding whether to portray soldiers and their spouses sympathetically or critically.

Does any law entrust the Supreme Court with custody of young minds? Has the Court received an appeal, a response, or an amicus curiae brief from someone with recognized standing to represent those young minds? If not, then the Court has no business opining about "pollution" of those young minds.

It is not the responsibility of an author of fiction to give "choice" to consumers. The choice to watch or not watch is sufficient. If young people are being forced to watch degrading content by their parents, schools, co-workers etc., those entities should be held responsible, and remedies would probably come from civil court, not from arresting anybody.

Yes, there is freedom of choice and expression in this country. However, the immense value of freedom is always connected with some responsibilities associated with the rules anytime and everywhere!

Regarding this case--

Meanwhile, XXX is an erotic comedy-drama. The first season of the web series was released in 2018 while the second started premiering in 2020. The show revolved around different aspects of sexual relationships in the society.

The top court has kept the matter pending while suggesting that a local lawyer may be put to work to know about the status of the hearing in the high court. The petition was filed, after a trial court in the Begusarai district of Bihar issued an arrest warrant against Kapoor on the grounds of Shambhu Kumar’s complaint, for insulting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their family members in her web series 'XXX'.

In his complaint in 2020, Mr. Kumar alleged that the series "XXX" (Season-2) featured several objectionable scenes related to a soldier's wife.

Deep diving into the details of the case, PTI reported that a trial court in Bihar's Begusarai had issued the warrant on a complaint lodged by Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman. Kumar, in his complaint of 2020, alleged series XXX (Season-2) was filled with objectionable scenes related to a soldier's wife.

Like all rights in the constitution, the right to freedom of thought, conscience and belief can be limited where it is reasonable and demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society based on human dignity, equality and freedom. Making serials for money or popularity by portraying a noble profession's trials and trivialities, human failings, and moral and ethical standards is not a praiseworthy idea.

Her shows are far from creative from the looks of it - I have hardly watched anything she has made barring the shows during her Kyuki phase.

About the XXX controversy - one episode depicts an army man's wife having an extra marital affair while the man is away on duty. Ismein Army ki kya insult hai ? Not every Army man's love story is like Shershaah. It's such a bullshit lawsuit here - the Supreme court should be reprimanding the person who filed the lawsuit for wasting the time of the court.

There is clearly an audience for these kinds of smut shows. Unko bola shows na dekhein, EKta will stop making those shows.

And hold the parents responsible for their kids watching such shows. I mean you need to pay for a subscription to watch this show. P*rn is available for FREE. Khud zero effort dalna hai aur phir Rona hai

10 Things That Can Happen Only In An Ekta Kapoor Serial!----

Ekta Kapoor is the queen of TV. She has redefined TV viewing for the Indian audience, produced so many TV shows that she has become synonymous to Indian Television itself!!

Here are things that you’ll always find in an Ekta Kapoor serial:

1. A huge joint family! ---- Ekta Kapoor serials are family oriented,😛 well, that means, there will be a huge family and mind you, it is always the protagonist's sasural !!

2. And the family gets so big because death can always be defied.

The young ones keep growing. Then people marry and give birth to new ones. Characters marry more than once. And old characters just defy death! Aging definitely is an alien concept!

3. I mean even when people die, they return after some episodes 🤪

4. And plastic surgery is there to help!

You know, plastic surgery just doesn’t change the face but the voice, physique and everything else you can imagine. Like for example, there were three Mihirs- and all thanks to plastic surgery, he managed to pull off these looks.

5. And repeat a word at least 3 times to create impact!

Remember the 'nahi' s and the 'kya's that would be said at least 3 times in various angles, because impact you know!

6. The bahu will always be in distress !!

Because it is through these distresses that the Bahu proves her mettle! Even though the main distress in her life is if they can impress their 'pati's!

7. Crying is such an integral part of every bahu that tears roll down on every occasion, be it happy or sad!

Because overtly activated tear glands can change your life!

8. Make up mode= Always on !!

9. And if it is too much make-up+ big bindis+ backless blouse= VAMP ??!!

10. Children look EXACTLY like their parent!!

She manages about 36 shows for her digital platform ALTBalaji at a given time, along with a couple of films, and not to mention the complete domination of prime-time television in India. There is also talent that she scouts from the long lines at her Balaji Television office in Andheri.

🤣🤣🤣

I have one more.

Generally, in ITV serials, the FL would mostly be from a poor background in comparison to the ML.

Absolutely no denying that Ekta has created some of the most regressive and degrading content ever on ITV and now on OTT.

Before she stormed the world of ITV with her K series, we had excellent content on screen from DD and Zee. I still remember those golden days. I am glad that people are taking legitimate action against her now for her transgressions.

No one stops you from creating content and we do have option to watch it but there are people who may not have such options or people with gullible minds who get influenced by such content. Hence, censorship becomes important.

It's not that Ekta is not able to create good work..look at The Married Woman or Code M. But she fully knows how to exploit the Indian mindset.

Also, it's not like she cant get bail before Trial Courts, she is saving herself the trouble of multiple litigations by approaching the Supreme Court. Good decision and i welcome it.

With her political affiliations, she will be out of this case, and will do the same, by producing the same regressive dramas to draw attention from the gullible viewers.

Bold: You are absolutely right. ❤️ There were excellent serials telecasted on ITV prior to her storming into our drawing rooms. I still remember, Malgudi Days-- Nukkad-- The Jungle Book-- Fauji -- Bharat Ek Khoj--Dekh Bhai Dekh etc.

Tumhari Pakhi is an Indian TV soap which was broadcasted on Lifeok. The serial was based on novel “Naba Bidhan” by Saratchandra Chattopadhyay. The show was released on 11 November, 2013 and went off air on 21 November, 2014. The lead role of serial was performed by Iqbal Khan and Shraddha Arya who now plays a lead in zee TV’s popular show Kundali Bhagya. The serial gained a lot of popularity in every household and won several awards.

Even though i do not blame ekta completely as jio cinema has made her content accessible everywhere( why censors were not applied is something we have to think). Its not that other ott shows or other ott apps don't have this content they do its just that people have less objections as it does not have indian ppl performing them. Yes i do agree ekta should not demean nobles professions like army.

Considering ekta tv shows and series her shows are solely based on abla nari ghar ki bakri types. Even supernatural shows lost its charm which they had during 90s. There are lots of shows in the past which ran successfully without glorifying shadi, family, evil sasural like ek hasina thi, shh koi hai series , ahat series son pari, shakalaka boom boom, khichdi , tarak mehtha, cid, krishna arjun, kumkum( adding here as even though it had some evil but it showed a widow marrying again in that era) etc.

But now a days all shows including ekta just concentrates on girl getting married within 6 months and just faces lots of family issues 🥱

Like why. Life is not about marriage. There are lot of successfull ppl who never married and there are lots of women who married and ensured that her career will not be doomed post marriage. Shows are not realistic and becoming repeatative. Which is making youth to think life is all about marriage sasural etc.

Even bollywood movies are same i see no difference even bollywood irrespctive whats the plot the ending scene would be a girl marrying a boy or they show some in between vulgar content which i am not even comfortable to watch it with my parents.is it necessary for every movie to have kissing scene and some cheap talks . Recent eg is brahmastra i have not watched it personally but i saw ppl complaining that instead of focusinv on theme it was focused on ranbir and alia.

Currently only some bollywood and south indian films try to bring some unique stories but ppl are so accustomed to watch steamy romance these movies are less appreciated. Rest all its same.

Unless all entertainment channels , types don't upgrade their content youth will live in their fairy world.

Unless all people stop supporting these random movies which tries to get audience based on some steamy content the movie industry will not change. I really appreciate producers and directors who brings films like kantara, charlie, kgf, vikram veda, drishyam, karthikeya etc.

Untill we support movies/shows like those they will keep on making them and we end up spoiling our on future generation because they will get more and more degraded content than currently we have.

Also one more point to add. In earlier days ppl used to get married at the age of 18 or below.

Post that girls started getting education and want to advance in her career before marriage so now the marriage is getting delayed for girls. But after watching these tv shows if we ask any girl who is 18 now if she is ready for marriage she will definitely agree. Like instead of moving forward we are moving backword. I know some girls are forced or some girls wants to be less burden on her parents or some resteictions from her family etc but this is not the case with all girls. Some girls had a choice to become ias and ips officers but they preferred being a abla naari shown in ITV. I am afraid if this will make women to be dependent again on men as they start thinking women's life is restricted to 4 walls. She spends husbands money and just romance. But in reality she should learn managing entire house if she is housewife try to understand husbands financial status before lavishly spending

She should learn to balance between house and work if she is working women. She should know what are the difficulties she face post giving birth etc which was never shown on shows.

Ekta Kapoor definitely polluting mind of viewers. Gharon ke andar Sajish ( planning plottingkitchen policts marriage ka joke multiple marriage yeh sub Ekta Kapoor serial ke main ingredients hai aur yeh sub audience ke mind ko pollute kar Rahe Hai .ne

People are tired of Ekta Kapoor ke planning plotting shows so they are preferring Pushpa impossible and anupama which might not be 100 percent perfect but their concept is still.healthy and realistic

In elementary school, I learned a poem that was written as a letter to the French President by a deserter of his army. Part of this soldier's experience was that while he was a prisoner, his wife was stolen from him, and with that he lost his soul and his precious memories.

I am sharing the poem in the original French, which is how I learned it, but you can easily find several English translations on the internet.

Le Déserteur par Boris Vian (1954)

Monsieur le Président

Je vous fais une lettre
Que vous lirez peut-être
Si vous avez le temps
Je viens de recevoir
Mes papiers militaires
Pour partir à la guerre
Avant mercredi soir

Monsieur le Président
Je ne veux pas la faire
Je ne suis pas sur terre
Pour tuer des pauvres gens
C’est pas pour vous fâcher
Il faut que je vous dise
Ma décision est prise
Je m’en vais déserter

Depuis que je suis né
J’ai vu mourir mon père
J’ai vu partir mes frères
Et pleurer mes enfants
Ma mère a tant souffert
Qu’elle est dedans sa tombe

Et se moque des bombes
Et se moque des vers

Quand j’étais prisonnier
On m’a volé ma femme
On m’a volé mon âme
Et tout mon cher passé
Demain de bon matin
Je fermerai ma porte
Au nez des années mortes
J’irai sur les chemins

Je mendierai ma vie
Sur les routes de France
De Bretagne en Provence
Et je dirai aux gens
Refusez d’obéir
Refusez de la faire
N’allez pas à la guerre
Refusez de partir

S’il faut donner son sang
Allez donner le vôtre
Vous êtes bon apôtre
Monsieur le Président
Si vous me poursuivez
Prévenez vos gendarmes
Que je n’aurai pas d’armes
Et qu’ils pourront tirer.

Many years after I learned this poem, a university announced a Student Veterans Panel. They expected a huge turnout of students interested in enlisting, but they got an audience of one person: me. I had no questions, so everyone else in the room got to talk about whatever they wanted to share with me. There were six male student veterans on the panel, one of whom was accompanied by a dog because his service had left him legally blind.

I listened to their reasons for enlisting (ranging from "I wanted to do something unselfish" to "I was tired of school" to "I wanted to kill someone after September 11, 2001"). They told me how their discipline as soldiers made schoolwork easier, and how it made them want to kill their younger classmates who expected answers without studying, spent their time partying, and thought they knew everything from the news. After years of in-person oral communication, these men found it difficult to seek help when resources were presented in writing. When a student veteran had a panic attack and ran out of class, no one understood what was happening to him.

These men didn't want special treatment because they were veterans; they just wanted to be understood.

Respect for soldiers is hollow and incomplete unless we acknowledge the full spectrum of their experience: not just bravery and medals and a hero's welcome home, but ... going into battle without protective gear until their families manage to pay for it out of pocket ... digestive ailments and lifelong injuries ... religious extremism in the armed forces ... being cheated out of health insurance for their families ... shooting captive enemies because they're too much trouble alive ... sexual harassment and homophobia/transphobia in the ranks ... peer pressure to exploit captives/prostitutes ... post-traumatic stress disorder ... loss of intimacy with spouses ... knowing that they weren't there for their children ... inability to reintegrate into society, depression, and self-harm.

Fictional portrayals of soldiers and their families could bring much-needed visibility to a vulnerable population ... if someone could write for them responsibly!
