Bollywood and underworld- how much truth or fiction?

It is alleged Khans got prominence in BW and all plum projects due to underworld. Is it true?

Some allege Nadeem Sharavan, Udit, Alka, Kumar Sanu also got more work in 90s due to underworld. Rajesh Khanna and Anil Kapoor have been clicked with Dawood and at his parties.

It is said Mamta Kulkarni, Mandakini got work in BW due to underworld. 

How true is influence of underworld in BW? How have likes of Amitabh, Kaka, Rishi met underworld dons? Why did Rishi call Dawood as Dawood saab? 

Was there indeed a time when casting and work in BW was dictated by dons? 

Is influence of underworld still there? How true are allegations of religious bias by underworld in BW and promoting actors of one community over other? Or actresses becoming keep of dons to get work? And threats to actors, producers and others from rivals connected to underworld?

My view

These ppl u mentioned didn't got work because of underworld but they were preferred by underworld because they became famous. Underworld would produce through their ppl n ask them to sign to make it sure shot success. 

Scared of their live they would do the movie n these Bollywood ppl would try to be in good books of underworld ppl so they would be harassed less n they n their family would be safe.

Also this was the time where not only movie but lot of other industries n politicians would be funded by underworld so not a big deal.

SRK was confident at premier Kjo won't be shooted may be because SRK would have made deals with underworld to spare Kjo. Probably bade Miya chote miyan had underworld money like chori chori chupke chupke.
