Hello everyone! 

Welcome to the Voting Round of Write the Bite Contest

Food is happiness. Food is culture. Food is important for living. Food can literally heal us.

Many thanks to all the participants for making food your food for thought and sending in so many amazing entries. Your infectious enthusiasm took us to 272 microtales. For this reason, we believe all of you are winners in your own way.

But since this is a Contest, we must carry on with the voting round.

INVITES have been sent out to select members via pm to vote on this thread. The deadline to vote is September 19, 2022, 11:59 PM IST. No one else’s votes will be considered valid within this time period.


Please read all the entries. People have put out their best work, and it would be kind of you to go through their work.

You have to vote for 10 entries in the English category and 2 in Hindi. If you need translation for the Hindi stories, please let us know. We will ask the authors to provide them.

Post all the votes in one post. Please mention the story along with its serial number.

Please DO NOT edit your posts while voting, unless you have voted for less than the required number of stories in each category. In case you edit your post after voting for 10 stories in English and 2 stories in Hindi, only the first draft of your post will be considered. (Mods of a forum can view all drafts of a post in that forum)

  1. "Khana khaya?" Jaise tum bolti thi, koi aur abhi puchta tak nahi.  (Translation: "Have you eaten food?" The way you used to ask this everytime, no one bothers to ask me now.)

  2. Aaya gussa,Rasgulla  thoosa. Gusaa gull, gaye pighal. Phaili mithaas, pyaar bindaas. (Translation: Very angry , stuffed rasgulla into mouth, anger melted away, lover melted , spread sweetness and shared loads of love)

  3. Aayiye jaanejaan ,  nosh farmayiye kabab ka , chalkayiye meherbaani ka jaam hum par (Translation: Come sweetheart, relish kababs, sprinkle wine of kindness/ love over me.)

  4. Akelapan. Chai aur pakode. Tumara saath. Viraam. Aur phir andhera. (Translation: Loneliness. Tea and pakoras. Your company. Pause. And then darkness.)

  5. Aloo Bhujiya pe karte hue khusti, Ho gayi bhai-behen mein dosti. (Translation: While fighting over aloo bhuijiya, even brother-sister became friends again.)

  6. Appu kush hua. Bhua dehin bhella layi. Chudail dadi khageyi. (Translation: Appu happy. Aunt brought dahi bella. Evil grandma ate all.)

  13. Gali ka kutta. Briyani khaye  Hairan Billi . Paisa kahan aya. (Translation: Stray dog. Ate briyani. Puzzled cat.  Where did money come from. )

  14. Garam dimag. Garam Chaay. Garam hi garam ko thanda kar sakta hai  (Translation: Hot temper. Hot Tea. Only hot can cool the hot down)

  15. Ghar lautne ke khushi; Maa, tere hath ka khana khaane mein hain. (Translation: The joy of returning home ; Maa, it lies in eating foods from your hands.)

Hi! I made the necessary corrections and while crosschecking I realised I typed in the wrong story number for one of the stories. 


Is that okay? I've added the stories as requested in my edited vote post. Just the one, rest everything is the same and unchanged.
