But critics also say cz of her iron grip on the party and not allowing any regional leaders to grow (she would keep changing CMs,) CP was weakened in some states and the regional parties began to grow

Also Indira, her sons and DILs were not college graduates

Yes Indira could speak a little French, and tried to impress others but otherwise they were not interested in education but since came from a high caste, very rich family, were well traveled (most Indians rarely travelled overseas then) spoke English and fair skinned, so gave the appearance of well educated

Indira went to Oxford. She had to leave because WWII erupted in Europe.

She actually did speak a couple of languages fluently. Not just *a little French.*

She had to take Oxford entrance twice because she failed Latin the first time. Clearly, she knew enough to pass a 2nd time.

Then, English and Hindi.

She also studied in Shantiniketan for a while. Don't know if she knew any Bengali.

P.s. not a fan of Indira. But fact is she was quite educated and informed unlike her progeny.

Yes declaring official mourning for Queen and pretending to be against colonialism. Cute.

Waise I felt ashamed of previously colonised nations' citizens mourning Queen. Nonsense. Stop glorifying your oppressors.

Yes she brought one woman dominance in party and was in favour of strong center and weak states. She did destroy opposition parties and destabilise state govts, misused her powers, did not let regional leaders grow which is why INC still lacks credible regional leaders.

She had bazillion flaws, brought laws, amendments at whim, violated human rights, muzzled democracy, played dangerous communal politics. But as a leader she was very much articulate, mingled with masses, would get off car and rush into the mobs, crowds, dress like locals, advertised herself and her family well as an ideal family. She was educated at Oxford and is not uneducated.

To be honest, her DIL was also a more astute politician and it is no mean feat to rebuild party and rule for 10 years using a world class economist as a PM to also wash sins of 1984. Sonia was also more brainy compared to her silly kids, who seem clueless and lack wit.

I can see sense of Gandhis when they let go of Captain and favoured Sidhu who is a turncoat anyway and happily destroyed own party in Punjab making way for AAP. The siblings have ZERO political acumen compared to their great grandfather, granny and parents.

Of course Indira was not uneducated. She went to the best institutions

Shantiniketan, Badminton School, Oxford but was a drop out everywhere, either cz of her incompetence or situation beyond her control, depending on whom you ask

Her sons on the other hand, were not academically gifted to put it mildly. They were not interested in studies at all...

Sanjay did not even attend University, Rajiv did attend Cambridge but did not finish it

I don't judge them for it but when ordinary people who are not educated cz of lack of money or opportunities  are looked down upon here, then what about these two?

Priyanka's husband is a not a graduate either

And Rahul could not even keep his Amethi seat which was his Uncle and Dad's constituency too

He knew it beforehand and chose to contest in Wayanad, Kerala too, wonder what made him chose that place

In 2004 and 2009 elections

In 2004 elections BJP's slogan was "India Shining" referring to the economic growth and Congress Party chose  "Aam Admi" to counter it

And we know who won

"In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections: “Congress Ka Haath…Aam Aadmi Ke Saath (Congress’ hand is with the common man)” and “Aam Aadmi Ko Kya Mila (What did the common man get), to counter the BJP’s ‘India Shining’ campaign. The slogans helped Congress to a win that year.

year.

For the 2009 polls, the slogan: “Aam Aadmi Ke Badhte Kadam…Har Kadam Par Bharat Buland (Every step of the common man makes India stronger), helped it retain power for a second term."

But they had to abondon it and shift focus on the middle class, since the 2014 elections
