That's the point. For first divorce you could say it's bad luck or incompatibility or any other excuse which doesn't put direct blame on Aamir. Second divorce means people are more likely to think there's something wrong with Aamir as a husband that all his wives leave his and none of his marriages work out.

Hmmm.. I see the point you are trying to convey and partially agree but in Aamir's case Kiran was not loved by masses in fact many thought she made him too left leaning and controversial so don't think it came across surprising to many that they split. Also audiences do not throng the theatres for Actor's personal life. I don't think its a factor. Maybe for brands it is but not movies. Pawan Kalyan from south has similar track record with relationships but that did not affect his stardom or BO.

Pawan Kalyan is one example. Kamal Haasan is another. But the hero worshipping in South film industries are on another level. Bollywood audience is less tolerant. I'm not saying LSC flopped because of Aamir's divorce, or that it even was a major reason. Still it could've played it's own little part in making Aamir's image negative, which were fueled by bigger reasons.

No, it's very true - all 9 of my aunt's had cancelled their tickets after they found out he divorced the poor what's her name again wife lady.. 😭 ..they ended up staying home and watching Juugggjugggjugggjg Jeeyo for the fifth time, they loved it 😎

Luckily, my second-cousin's niece had received the latest issue of Cineblitz which included the divorce listings alongside the movie listings... just before they were about to head out to the local double-screen theatre..

Aamir Khan really made a big mistake doing this.. he really should have stayed a good married man, even if it was no longer working.. because poor Bollywood fans will suffer now, instead of him suffering 👎🏼

Also, Kareena, she has married a man, who married again, and she's had like 5-6 boys already.. she is ruining her image... couldn't she just stay virginal like Rekhaji - promoting sex is bad for family audience.. 🤓

I dont think it’s just divorce but many things that hurt his reputation as a person and film maker. That doesn’t matter too much for a great film which will run anyway or a terrible film which will flop anyway. I think reputation only affects the in between films. We definitely give benefit of doubt to people we admire and look for faults in people we dont respect. It’s human nature.

It’s a combination of many factors. The divorces may play a part. But the “political” content that he has given for 20+ years now have a larger impact. When all of it is presented together, it dosen’t make him look good. Didn’t he lose some endorsement deal a while ago for some statement or something? Still, he didn’t learn. Validate the boycotters and give them extra “content” in LSC itself. How dumb can you be? That you cannot understand the mood and climate of the nation. Learn from the other 2 Khans who are smart enough to be neutral and keep their mouths shut.

Ofcourse the movie itself was not mass-appealing. It’s a combination of many factors that led to LSC failure.

Bolly fans are not as fanatical in star worship as fans of South stars. Nor does Aamir work as regularly as Kamal and Pawan. Neither he has their larger than life screen presence. I bet they do not squander their peaks by taking breaks of 5 years or so and totally disappearing the way Aamir goes underground. Nor they have messed relations with even their father and brother the way Aamir has messed relations with everyone from partners to professional colleagues, family, media, politicians, award juries etc.

I never blamed Aamir or Kareena for getting divorced or for marrying a divorcee. So show this talent of sarcasm in some other thread and stop getting butthurt on behalf of entire Bollywood.

Indian sensibilities are conservative but also quite complex. So while the neighbour's boy might be gossiped about for divorcing his second wife, nobody would turn against Aamir for that. Also multiple wives (not at the same time) weren't that unknown in India a couple of generations ago because female life expectancy was quite low.His supposed relationship with Fatty might raise a few eyebrows. Aamir did have a falling out with his father but I believe the whole family took Aamir’s side. Rumor was the falling out was because his father surprised the family and took a second wife, but I’m not sure how true that is. His brother was medically diagnosed with schizophrenia and refused to take his medication. Their father was the only one who would help Faisal avoid his medication, which caused further strains between father and the family. The rest of the family stood behind Aamir including his first wife Reena who was already divorced from Aamir by then. His two ex wives are actually on very good terms with each other and both are still involved in all family functions. There’s a video of a family wedding from a few years ago where both Reena and Kiran are sitting in a circle with Aamir’s sisters singing songs. Kiran was there at Ira’s recent birthday party along with her Mom Reena, and Fatima also. If you look at Instagram pictures of his daughter and niece they are a very close knit family actually. Always there for each other during Eids or big events like weddings. They are just not flashy about it because other than Aamir no one else is part of Bollywood. Satyamev Jayate was actually critically acclaimed show because it talked about sensitive social issues. Aamir’s Pani Foundation has helped many rural areas of Maharashtra.

Everyone has controversies. Salman literally ran a human being over and killed him. He was abusive towards Aishwarya and Soni Ali by their own admissions. There are also rumors of him being abusive towards Katrina. He’s had fights with Subhash Ghai, Vivek Oberoi, Shahrukh Khan, and I’m sure a few others over the last 30 years. Speaking of Shahurukh Khan, he has also been accused of being unpatriotic for speaking against the government (I’m not well versed on the details of his controversies), and his image of a family man was severely damaged with rumors of his affair and even secret nikah with Priyanka Chopra. His wife was allegedly caught with drugs at the airport in Germany. Both of these Khans have given ATBB. In fact SRK’s Chennai Express broke records at the time. Just like most of Aamir’s so called controversies happened before Dangal and that movie is still top grossing Hindi movie. Sanjay Dutt has been in jail and was allegedly involved in hiding weapons for the Mumbai terrorists but Bollywood made a flashy mainstream movie about him that became one of the top grossing films.

For all their fist raising and performative protests and boycotts, if a movie is entertaining enough no Indian audience will stay home. That’s just how it is. LSC failed because it didn’t click with audiences in India. It seems to be doing well overseas though. Aamir’s so called image has nothing to do with it. The best any of us can argue is that the boycott controversies might have affected the opening numbers, and even that can obviously be debated.
