Did Aamir ruin his image by divorcing Kiran?

Let's be real. For most people in India, even the modern or progressive ones, divorcing for a second time is a major red flag. Aamir is a Superstar because of common people. Those common people who come from different sections of the society.

Most of the people from those sections are backward and regressive in nature and won't hold divorce in high regard, let alone for a second time.

Aamir has also been accused of cheating on both of his wives, being in a relationship with a British woman while being married, having an illegitimate child with that British woman, and disowning that said child.

All these accusations are not proven at the end of the day and hence can be debated. But him divorcing his second wife is a fact and it does ruin his image a bit, doesn't it? We know how KSG became a joke after he cheated on his second wife Jennifer Winget and married Bipasha.

Ain't Aamir pretty similar to KSG when it comes to their marital life? People did take Aamir and Kiran's divorce as some sort of joke when the news came out.

Which Superstar in Bollywood got divorced for a second time other than Aamir?

Sanjay Dutt got married three times but his first marriage ended because of his wife's death. He only divorced one time with his second wife.

Is it possible that one of the reasons for LSC failure at the box office is his divorce? Did YOU changed your view for Aamir even a little bit, when you heard about his divorce with Kiran?

I never bothered about personal life of stars really. Unless it was a serious case or crime. Or incitement to violence and direct hate speech.

Divorce is personal and does not matter to me.

However given how The Rising fell despite a huge opening post Aamir and Reena divorce and rumours of love child with Jessica Hines, or how LSC failed to even get a good opening and Aamir trended a lot as some serial divorcer, got branded a serial love jihadi and even his interviews were mostly about his divorce and his own regrets about neglecting family life, I guess it may have partially impacted his image.

Shockingly most interviews before release of LSC were hardly about the film but more about his divorce and his own regrets, weeping how he neglected family or tries to spend more time with kids now. It may have dulled promotions and also left public clueless about LSC as a film.

But divorce is not the only reason why his film got affected. He has seen many more public spats with family and even Amole Gupte type colleagues before TZP released but it did really well, won great acclaim and earned him lot of respect.

Image has nothing to do with disaster of movies. It can impact little bit but not so much.

If movie is good ppl watch if it's bad no one will waste their time n money on it.

Although I think like you, atominis, when it comes to the private life of artists, I'm almost sure that Aamir's private life and recent divorce made an impact in an already shaky situation. It "should" not, but it does.

As far as I know, Indian sensibilities - in the majority - tend to be rather conservative and there is a reason why Aamir doesn't have the same fan following like Salman and SRK. How many "dents" in his private life are necessary to help in building up a certain reservation against him as a person...and latter can - with the respective anti-Aamir campaigns and an unsuccessful trailer - create a certain reluctance to invest effort and money to go to the theatre watching a movie you may not like.

As you write, letting enter his private life in the promotion of the movie, wasn't a good move either...

Far too many negativity surrounded this movie - already from the beginning.

Some movies should never ever be remade even in Hollywood (Jaws, Exorcist (its sad that blumhouse are doing this exact thing now), Godfather..etc. It's the same for FG. No remake in hollywood or in any other decent movie industry.

I don't think so. Laal Singh Chaddha had other things stacked against it, Aamir's personal life doesn't even figure anywhere in there.

No, I highly doubt it. People just want to watch a good movie .

If Lal singh Chadda didn’t work , it’s not coz of Aamirs “image” it’s only coz the movie wasn’t up to the mark and majority of the public weren’t interested in it.

Next , if Aamir comes up with a great movie people will flock the theatre.

Only thing that works is a good movie irrespective of whether the leading man is single/divorced etc

Aamir's image also plays a role in whether people would support him or not.

Even those who think it's unfair for Aamir to be targeted or boycotted for whatever statements or films he made, it's difficult to show any empathy if you have a bad image of him in your mind.

He had rumours of affair with Fatima which somewhat appear to be true as Fatima likes all of Ira's pics on instagram..she was there at her birthday, Fatima was at Aamir's place after Lal Singh's screening.

All of Aamir's staff like every pic of Fatima on Instagram. I mean.. one would maintain a distance of all these rumours are not true.

That actually looks so disgusting given the sheer age gap between Aamir and Fatima.

Waise his image is in pits for sure thanks to 2 divorces, his disowning his own father legally in 1999 and his brother Faisal who still gives interviews telling how Aamir tried to prove him mentally unstable and force fed him psychotropic drugs. And that abandoning love child with British journalist.

Then there are controversies with his colleagues, co stars, politicians, media, award juries and dabbling in social, political and religious issues. He is always seen as someone who is forever at loggerheads with others.

Like 'kisi ka sagaa nahi' and someone whose own life is messed up but he makes films and shows to preach message to others.

He surely had better image in 90s before he went preach/socio political mode and had a mangled personal life and bazillion spats with colleagues, co stars, media, politicians.

I daresay Salman, Saif and SRK have better image than him in public as they atleast get along well with their own families despite all their alleged controversies and they all are not as preachy as him. Salman's brother swears by him whereas Aamir's brother keeps giving interviews against him telling how he destroyed his life. And it is better to be unmarried like Salman instead of dumping multiple wives and kids the way Aamir did. Aamir is seen as an egoistic man sort of like Kamal Haasan who also dumped 2 wives and is known to dominate all projects he does and gets into troubles with religious and political lobbies.

Not for me. I never cared for Kiran. She seemed elitist
