The T20 World Cup 2021 Super 12s round rolls into its second day as Bangladesh take on Sri Lanka in the third match of the round today. The two teams had to take a long route to come this far in the tournament, having failed to secure direct qualification.

Bangladesh had suffered a huge scare en route to the Super 12s after they were beaten by Scotland in their first qualifier. They bounced back in style, beating Oman and PNG in their subsequent encounters. Sri Lanka on the other hand, remained unbeaten in the qualifiers, beating Namibia, Ireland, and Netherlands.

Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka secured morale-boosting wins in their respective bilateral series ahead of their arrival in UAE for the T20 World Cup 2021. While Bangladesh had defeated the mighty Australians in a T20I series, the Lankans handed Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team a beating in a 3-match T20I assignment back home.

Having qualified for the main round, both teams will be determined to kick off the tournament with a win and prove why they are still among the finest teams in the world.
