Do you think BW music right now is at its worst ever?

Not a single track this year has grabbed my attention. People are talking about Mimi and Haseen Dilruba, but even A.R. Rahman and Amit Trivedi pale in comparison to their own work which they had done earlier.

Each and every track is so generic - it's like you can interchange the soundtracks of movies and they would actually not be able to tell the difference. The same item song, the same shake-a-leg scenario but where is the melody? Where is the haunting quality which used to characterise Bollywood music?

Maybe I am being too cynical but I don't see how this generic, stale quality can redeem Bollywood music. It's like mass numbers are churned out, they get views, but something is missing and that's soul. Where is the soul in music these days?

In 2020, just 2 soundtracks were good -- Malang and Love Aaj Kal 2.

The last GREAT soundtrack was Kabir Singh/Kalank in 2019.

Every year seems to take it a notch down further.

Was just listening to this song...melodious and beautiful...I still listen to 90's and 2000's songs...I don't have a single song after 2018 in my playlist except 1 track from Malang and a few from Kabir Singh!

Yes. BW music is dead. Haven't listened to Mimi and Haseen Dilruba albums so can't comment.

Most of today's "hit" tracks are 90% of the time remakes of 90s chartbusters. Tells you all you need to know about the level of creativity in today's BW music scene.

The quality has definitely deteriorated over the years. Even 4-5 years ago the music was quite good. Most of the songs now are forgettable, I have stopped listening altogether, neither the music is good, nor the lyrics are memorable. There is dearth of good singers, with some exceptions of course, and then we have Neha Kakkar ruining every other classic song, and most of the songs are now just mindless remixes. BW had good music taste once upon a time, not anymore

Yeah I agree 100%. But I don't know if it's because of. dearth of creativity or the demands of Gen Z. Because these songs really get high number of views. Maybe they're just catering to the demand of the youngsters nowadays?

Yeah .it’s like one song in 4-5 months that’s actually good but post 6 months you don’t even remember it at all. Tbh I don’t think I remember a single good/melodious song this year so far

With the rate T-Series dumps out new songs, I'm sure Tony Kakkar will remix this soon 😆

I think some songs are better than others. Lots of good melody in music videos these days imho
