CHAPTER 1

A dead body of a married woman which was adored in a beautiful bridal dress and jewellery was cremated by her husband after performing the last rituals. Everyone present in the crematorium were mourning over the loss of her. The people who couldn't even see her in pain because of a small cut were now seeing her being burnt into ashes infront of their own eyes.

Lady: Beta, iski aakhri ichha ka kya? Bhale hi galti se lekin tune apne khoon se uski maang bhari hai. Is baat ko na hi ham andekha kar sakte hai aur na hi bhagwaan karenge. Faisla tujhe hi karna hai lekin sahi waqt par use anjaam dena hoga.

Listening his mother's words, anger raised in him. He went towards the girl who was standing like a lifeless body. The only proof of her being alive was her breathes and the tears which were flowing continuously through her eyes. The girl which was beautiful in her own simplicity was looking pale with no energy left in her body. Her eyes which used to attract everyone with it's spark were red and swollen due to the unending tears. Her nose which was quick in turning red due to her anger was now in the deepest shade of red due to continuously crying. Her cheeks which were as soft as rose petals were now wet with her tears and stained with tear marks. Her pink lips which never left the beautiful smile has turned white as if the entire blood from her body has been sucked out. Her straight and silky hair which everyone felt to touch and relish the smoothness of it were messed up.

He held her hand and made her stand infront of the burning body. She looked at it and then lowered her gaze. He held her hand in a tight grip and took rounds around the fire.

Lady: Kya kar rahe ho? Band karo ye sab!

Man: Stop it! You can't do this. Galat kar rahe ho tum.

Everyone present there tried to stop him from getting into a beautiful relationship in an inauspicious way.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki tumhare har khushi ka dhyaan rakhunga ki wo tumhe kabhi na mile."
He took the first vow after the first round around the fire.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki iske har kadam par iska saath dunga taaki use har kadam par gira sakun."
He took the second vow.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki iske alaawa kisi aur aurat ki taraf nazar utha kar bhi nahi dekhunga kyunki ab mera poora dhyaan iski zindagi barbaad karne me hoga."
He took the third vow.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki ise kabhi apni patni ka darjah nahi dunga aur na hi kabhi iski izzat karunga."
He took the fourth vow.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki iske har sukh dukh me iska saath doonga taaki iske har sukh ko dukh me badal sakun aur har dukh me ise aur takleef de sakun."
He took the fifth vow after completing the fifth round.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki har pal isse nafrat karunga."
He took the sixth vow.

"Mai vachan leta hun ki apne har vachan ko poori shiddat se nibhaunga. Kisi bhi vachan ko poora karne me koi kami nahi chhodunga."
He took the last vow after the last round around the fire.

Then he cut his thumb finger and filled her hairline with his blood where already his dried blood was present. He took out a mangalsutra from his pocket which belonged to his first wife and tied around her neck.

"Ho gaya Maa, aap aur wo jo chahti thi kar diya maine. Ab to aap ko sukoon mil gaya hoga aur ab uski aatma ko bhi shaanti mil jaayegi. To ab mujhe shaanti se rehne dijiye."
Saying this he left the ground leaving his newly wedded wife alone.

"Ab ghar chalo, aur kuchh bach gaya hai dekhne ko." His father spoke.

"Chaliye, aur bahu ko saath le chaliye." His mother said to her husband and they drove to their home.

No girl would have dreamt of being wedded while mourning for someone and going to her in laws house without her own husband. And no man would have dreamt of marrying the girl who has killed his wife.

"Chalo, mai tumhe uske kamre me le chalti hun ", his mother took her to his room and made her sit on the bed. "Beta kuchh to khalo, kal se tumne kuchh nahi khaya hai", she said to her with concerned filled voice but she denied her while shooking her head.

"Thik hai tum aaram karlo, wo bas aata hi hoga" she left the room.

At late night, he entered his room and when he saw her sitting on his bed his rage was uncontrollable. He stepped towards her and gripped her arms tightly giving her pain.

"Himmat kaise huyi mere kamre me aane ki tumhe? Koi haq nahi hai tumhara na hi mujh par aur na hi mere kisi cheez par."

"Ye to aapko mujhse shaadi karne se pehle sochna tha." She spoke for the first time in these 24 hours.

"Shaadi??? Tumne meri patni ka qatl kiya hai aur tumse shaadi kar ke mai tumhe us gunaah ka saza dunga. Samjhi tum??" He spoke to her with hatred.

"Kabhi nahi socha tha maine ki aap mere baare me itni ghatiya soch rakhte hai." She spoke while being irritated with his accusations.

"Maine bhi kabhi nahi socha tha ki tum meri patni ko, meri Antara maar sakti ho, Mrs. Guddan Akshat Jindal. Oops, or should I say, Dr. Guddan Akshat Jindal. Ek baar, sirf ek baar apne naam se pehle waale is shabd ke baare me soch leti tum. Ek doctor ho kar tumne apne hi patient ki jaan le li. Kaise kar sakti ho tum aisa? Answer me!!!"

He yelled on her making her flinch at his voice.

Guddan: Wo sirf aapki patni ya meri patient nahi thi, meri bhi .......

Akshat: Kuchh nahi thi wo tumhari. Koi rishta nahi tha tumhara usse. Agar hota to tum use nahi maarti.

Guddan: Aapke kuchh bhi kehne se sach nahi badalne wala.

Akshat: Sahi kaha tumne, usi tarah tumhare bhi kuchh kehne se kuchh nahi badalne wala. Tumne jo gunaah kiya hai wo nahi chhupega.

Guddan: Jo sochna hai sochiye. Mujhe aapko koi safaayi nahi deni.

Akshat: Aur mujhe bhi kuchh nahi sunna.

He held her hand and dragged her out of his room. She tried to get out of his hold but with each try his grip grew tighter.

His parents saw him and tried to stop him but ignoring them he moved out of the house. He went to the servant quarters outside the house and threw her on the floor. It wasn't even a room. It only had a roof surrounded with only two side walls. All the servants along with his parents were witnessing the scene.

Mahesh(Akshat's father): Dimaag kharaab hai kya Akshat tumhara? Ye koi tareeqa hai apni patni ke saath bartaav karne ka?

Akshat: Patni?? Dad, ye mere patni ki qaatil hai meri patni nahi aur iski sahi jagah hai ye.

Jaya(Akshat's mother): Beta, agar tum ise apne kamre me nahi rakhna chahte to iska apna room hai ghar me. Ye yahaan kaise rahegi.

Akshat: Ye yahin rahegi aur koi kuchh nahi kahega. Dad, Mom, aap log please andar jaaiye. Ye mere aur Guddan ke beech ka maamla hai ham log aapas me dekh lenge.

Mahesh: Ye baat ab sirf tum donon ke beech ki nahi hai. Ab ye hamare ghar ki bahu hai. Aur usse pehle maine ise apni beti maana hai. Aur mai kisi ko bhi apne beti ke saath is tarah pesh aane nahi dunga, apne sage bete ko bhi nahi.

He picked Guddan from the floor and was moving towards his house but Akshat holds her hand and stops her.

Akshat: Dad, ye kahin nahi jayegi, yahin rahegi.

Mahesh: Mai tera baap hun aur tu meri baat maanega. Chhod Guddan ka haath!!

Akshat being stubborn holds her hand tightly and again dragged her to the corner.

Mahesh: Akshat!!!
He yelled on him with his authoritative voice.

Guddan: Uncle, Aunty, aap log please jaaiye. Mai sab manage kar lungi.

Mahesh: Lekin Beta....

Guddan: Uncle please, mere liye.

They nodded and left from there leaving Akshat and Guddan alone.

Akshat: Kya lagta hai tumhe, ye sab naatak kar ke tum mujhe mana logi. Maine faisla kar liya hai ki tum yahi rahogi aur mai ise badalne wala nahi hun.

Guddan: Thik hai, to jaaiye andar. Mere saath apna time waste kyun kar rahe hai. Aur ek baat, ye koi naatak nahi kar rahi thi mai, aapko to apne Maa Baap ki fikar hai nahi, to unki baat to maanne se rahe. Isiliye maine unhe apne tareeqe se mana liya.

He pinned her to the wall and held her chin tightly making his fingers to imprint on her fair skin which brought tears in her eyes.

Akshat: Tumhe mere family ke baare me kuchh bhi sochne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Jis ke baare me socha use to maar diya ab mere parents ko to zinda chhod do.

She pushed him back with all the strength she could muster up.

Guddan: Ho gaya na, jitna kuchh kehna tha keh chuke. Ab jaaiye yahaan se. Waise bhi aur bacha hi kya hai jo aap mujhe suna sake.

He left from there not before locking the grilled gate to prevent her from escaping.

She sat down on the floor hugging her knees and crying her heart out. She wasn't able to contemplate the turn of events of her life which occured in these few days.

"Mai kabhi nahi chahta tha ki tumhare saath aisa kuchh ho, lekin ab kuchh kar bhi nahi sakta kyunki tumne khud ye raasta apne liye chuna hai." A man spoke to her sitting outside the gate.

"Tumhe aisa kyun lagta hai ki mai apni zindagi ke liye aisa kuchh sochungi?" She questioned him.

"To phir kyun mana kiya tha mere rishte ko? Agar us din tumne mujhe reject nahi kiya hota na to aaj tum meri patni hoti aur Bhai tumhare saath aisa karne ke baare me soch bhi nahi sakte the." He replied her.

"Jo bhi hua so hua, ab mai Akshat ki patni hun aur tumhari Bhabhi, to ye sab sochna band karo, Parv." She informed her brother-in-law or rather instructed him to stay away from her.

"I loved you Guddan, I still love you and will always love you." He said to her with his determined voice.

Guddan: Parv, jaao yahaan se. Aur doobara kabhi ye sab baatein mat kehna.

He left from there not before looking at her with love filled gaze.

"Kyun kiya aapne aisa? Kyun?? Mujhe akele is duniya me chhod kar chali gayi aap, Di. Pehle Mummy, Papa ne hame chhod diya. Unke baad aap hi to thi meri zindagi me ab aap bhi mujhe chhod kar chali gayi. Aur saath me apne pati ki nafrat mere liye chhod kar chali gayi. Kaise samjahun mai unhe ki maine kuchh nahi kiya hai. Mai kaise apni hi Di ki jaan le sakti hun. Aap ko takleef dena yaani khud ko takleef dena. Aap ki jaan lena yaani khud ki jaan lena."
She cried her heart out mourning on the loss of her sister who was the only one for her in this world.

In case you have any confusion, I am here to clarify....

The main characters are :

Akshat and Guddan as you know and then,
Akshat's parents- Mahesh and Jaya.
Akshat's younger brother- Parv.
Akshat's first wife or Guddan's elder sister- Antara.

And pleaseeeee................
Don't judge Antara's character and don't hate her. She is already dead and made AKSHAN married after she left.

CHAPTER 2

AKSHAT'S ROOM,

He was sitting on the bed holding Antara's photo in his hand with tears in his eyes.

"Kyun chhod kar gayi tum mujhe? Ham donon ne ek doosre se promise kiya tha na ki ham hamesha saath rahenge lekin tumne kya kiya. Apna promise tod diya aur chali gayi mujhe akela chhod kar. Mai jaanta hun tum mujhse zyaada Guddan se pyaar karti ho, atleast mere liye na sahi uske liye tum ruk jaati. Tumhara aise ham sab ko chhod kar jaana sahi nahi hai. Sab ki haalat dekhni thi tumhe, kaise ro rahe the aur Guddan. Tum jaanti nahi ho uski kya haalat hai kal se. Kuchh khaya nahi, kuchh piya nahi. Sirf roye ja rahi hai. Uski ye haalat dekh kar man kar raha tha use apni baahon me le lun. Uske aansu poch dun, use console karun lekin jo usne kiya uske saamne uske liye meri har feeling kamzor pad rahi hai. I wish ki wo sab kuchh hua hi nahi hota. Jitna mai Guddan ko is sab ke liye doshi maan raha hun na utna hi mai bhi hun Antara. I know tumhe achha nahi lag raha hoga ye sun kar lekin mujhme jo guilt hai wo bhi kam nahi hone wala. Agar mai tumhe mere saath drive par chalne ke liye force nahi karta to na hi wo accident hota aur na hi tum ham sab se door hoti. Hazaar, laakh baar mai Guddan ki fault bata sakta hun lekin usse meri galti kam nahi ho sakti. Lekin you know mera dil ye baat maanne ko taiyar hi nahi hai ki Guddan ne kuchh kiya hai. Lekin jo hua hai mai use andekha bhi nahi kar sakta na. I know agar tum yahaan hoti na to tum mujh par nahi balki Guddan par bharosa karti aur usi pyaar aur bharose ke liye I want to give her a chance. Note it, it will be the last chance. Mai kal aakhri baar, aakhri baar Guddan se phir se sawaal karunga agar usne sab kuchh sach kaha aur wo innocent prove huyi to trust me Antara, Mai use zindagi bhar khush rakhunga. Uske aankhon me kabhi gam ke aansu nahi aane dunga. Pyaar karna mushkil hoga but I will try my best to give her all the love and happiness she deserves. Lekin agar uski koi bhi galti huyi to I swear her life will be a living hell. Usne mere pyaar ko mujhse cheena hai meri patni ko mujhse cheena hai, she will get to know the pain of it jab wo meri patni hokar bhi meri patni nahi hogi. I know ki mai uske baare me ye sab baatein karke tumhe takleef de raha hun but she has left me with no other option. If she is at fault then she has to face the consequence for it. Good night!" He kissed her photo and kept the frame back on the side table.

NEXT MORNING,

She was sleeping on the corner of the room which had no fan or anything else. The sun rays were falling on her face disturbing her sleep. She was sleeping on the only mat which was provided to her with no pillow and a single bedsheet. The girl who used to sleep comfortably on the bed in an air conditioned room was facing these troubles just for the sake of revenge which her husband wants to take against her. Just then she wakes up with a jolt when she feels a splash of water on her. She opens her eyes to see her husband holding a bucket which had no water just because all the water was used for waking her up from her sleep.

Guddan: Aise koi karta hai kya??

AJ: Mai karta hun na.

Guddan: Aap aise nahi maanne wale, mai abhi Di ko bulati hun.

Di, Di, Di, dekhiye inhone kya kiya.

AJ: Chup karo! Wo nahi aane wali. 

Guddan: Dar gaye na aap ki Di aap par gussa karengi. Abhi mai unhe bulati hun. Di!!!

He pinned her to the wall and shut her mouth using his palm.

AJ: Tumne zinda chhoda hota tab hi to wo aati.

She then remembered what all happened in these two days and tears started flowing through her eyes.

AJ: Ab jaldi se andar aao aur kaam shuru karo. Jab Mom aur Dad ne tumhe beti maana tha tab to tumne koi kaam kiya nahi, ab bahu ban gayi ho to kuchh to kaam karna padega na.

He left from there and she looked at the other corner of the room where all her belongings were scattered on the floor. There were just some clothes of hers and a huge pile of books. She first arranged her books neatly and then freshens up to go to the house.

She entered the house and directly went towards the kitchen. She greeted her mother in law who was directing the chefs who were making breakfast.

AJ: Everyone out!!!

He yelled as soon as he entered the kitchen. All the chefs and maids who were working in the kitchen left from there.

Jaya: Akshat, what is this??

Akshat: Mom, ab jab aapki bahu hai to koi aur kaam kyun karega.

Jaya: Lekin Akshat, Guddan kyun kaam karegi? Aaj tak jaise sab ho raha tha ab bhi waise hi hoga.

Akshat: No Mom, Guddan aaj se ghar ka saara kaam karegi. Khana pakane se lekar, jhadu pocha bartan kapda, everything. 

Jaya: Akshat, are you out of your mind?? Guddan akele itne bade ghar ka kaam akele kaise karegi? Saare servants mil kar kaam karte hai tab is ghar ka kaam hota hai aur tum sab kuchh akele Guddan ko karne ke liye keh rahe ho.

Akshat: Itne bade ghar ki bahu hai to is ghar ka kaam bhi to karna hoga na.

Jaya: Agar tumhare Dad ko pata chala na to....

Guddan: Aunty, it's Ok. I will manage. Bahu hi to apne ghar ka kaam karti hai. Naukraniyan to paraye ghar ka kaam karti hai. Aap jaiye mai abhi sab ke liye breakfast le kar aati hun. 

Jaya: Thik hai then I will also help you.

Guddan: Nahi, I will manage. Aap jaiye.

She forced her to leave the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for everyone.

After the breakfast was ready, she served it to everyone.

Mahesh: Guddan beta, tumne breakfast kyun banaya?

Guddan: Uncle, ab to mai is ghar ki bahu hun, pehli rasoi ki rasam to banti hai na.

Mahesh: Jeeti reh meri bachhi. Ab to hame Mom Dad bula hi sakti ho na.

Guddan: Ji Uncl...I mean Dad.

He took out some cash and gave it to her.

Guddan: Ye kis liye?

Mahesh: Pehli rasoi ki rasam ke liye neg to banta hai na. Rakh lo hamara aashirwaad samajh kar.

She took it happily but soon Akshat snatched it from her hands. 

Akshat: Apne room ke...I mean jo kuchh dinon pehle tumhara room tha wahaan ke locker me jitna cash, jewellery, everything, jo kuchh bhi hai, Sab mujhe abhi yahaan chahiye.

Guddan: And why do you need that?

Akshat: Mai tumhare sawaalon ke jawaab dene ke liye yahaan nahi hun. Maine jo kaha hai wo karo.

She went to the room which belonged to her and took out the cash and jewellery present in the locker. It was not much because her earnings were saved in her bank account and all the jewellery was with Antara. She placed everything infront of him.

Akshat: Cards aur Car keys bhi lekar aao.
She handed everything to him.

Akshat: Now forget that these were ever belonged to you.

Guddan: What???

Akshat: Sahi suna tumne. Ab ye sab kuchh tumhara nahi hai. 

Guddan: Ye mera hai. 

Akshat: Ye tumhara tha, hamari shadi se pehle. Ab mera ho gaya hai.

Parv: Bhai, you can't do this. She has legal rights on it.

Akshat: Wakeel sahab, aapse kuchh nahi poocha maine.

Mahesh: Jaya, apne laadle bete ko samjha do warna mai kuchh kar na dun iske saath.

Akshat: Mom, aap bhi Dad se keh dijiye ki ye mere aur Guddan ke beech ke maamle me kuchh na bole.

Jaya: Akshat, your dad is right. Ye sahi nahi kar rahe ho tum.

Guddan: Aunty, Uncle, aap donon shaant ho jaiye please. Ye sahi keh rahe hai, we will handle it among ourselves. 

Mahesh: Nahi Guddan, ye tumhari achhayi ka fayda utha raha hai.

Guddan: Uncle, I will talk to him later. Aap please breakfast kijiye.

After everyone were done with the breakfast, Guddan was picking up the plates and other diahes from the dining table. One of the maids was helping her to take them to the kitchen but Akshat sees it.

Akshat: Laila!!! Jao yahaan se!

He yelled on the maid who was helping Guddan. Guddan geatured her to go and Guddan moved towards the kitchen to place the dishes. She decided to wash the clothes using the washing machine and then start doing other works so she moved towards the laundry of the house where all the laundry baskets from everyone's room are collected. She was about to switch on the machine but was stopped by Akshat.

Guddan: Ab mere kaam karne me kya problem ho raha hai aapko?

Akshat: Wo kya hai na aaj kal current bill kuchh zyaada hi aa raha hai to aaj se no use of electronic devices. Washing machine, Dish washer, Vaccum cleaner, in sab ka use nahi hoga. Saare kaam khud karna hoga.

Guddan: You are right! As a bahu mujhe bhi to in sab cheezon ka khyaal rakhna padega na. To aaj se TV aur Wifi ke saare connections off. No use of electricity for charging phones and laptops. No use of refrigerators for cool water, cold drinks and ice cream. No use of toaster and induction cooktops. Aap ke kamre ke saare lights, AC and fans bhi nikalwa dete hai. Aap ke washroom se geyser bhi nikalwa denge. Sahi rahega na.

He pinned her to the wall twisting her wrists in his tight grip. Tears flowed from her eyes due to the pain.

Akshat: Zyaada hoshiyar banne ki koshish mat karna mere saamne. Jitna kaha hai utna karo.

He was trying to be harsh on her but her tears were working on the mission to melt his heart. He left her and remembered what he decided last night. He held her face and made her look into his eyes.

Akshat: Aakhri baar, aakhri baar sawaal kar raha hun, sach sach batao kya hua tha us din. Mera dil tum par trust karna chahta hai lekin mera dimag wo bhulne ko taiyar nahi jo maine dekha hai. This the last chance to justify yourself.

 
Guddan: Trust doesn't needs justification Mr. Akshat Jindal. Aapko mujh par bharosa karna hai kariye, nahi karna hai mat kariye. I am not begging for your trust. 

Akshat: Iska matlab tum kuchh nahi bataogi??

She shook her head in denial.

Akshat: Mai hi pagal tha jo tum par bharosa karna chahta tha. Meri hi galti hai, you don't deserve anyone's trust and love. Just Go to Hell!!!

He pushed her down and she fell on the ground which made her head hit on the raised platform which made a cut on it due to its sharp edge. Blood oozed out from her wound but there were none to care about it.

CHAPTER 3

Guddan came back to the kitchen to prepare lunch. Jaya saw the bandaid on her forehead which made her concerned. 

Jaya: Guddan, kya hua? Ye chot kaise lagi?
Guddan: Kuchh nahi Aunty, bas cupboard se saaman nikal rahi thi to lag gaya.
Jaya: Dhyaan rakha karo beta.
Guddan: Aap jaiye Aunty, mai kar lungi.
Jaya: Abhi to saara kaam karke aayi ho, mujhe help karne do. Akshat baaki sab ko mana kar sakta hai mujhe nahi.
Guddan: It's Ok Aunty, I will manage.
Jaya: Guddan, ab mai tumhari Saas hun. Wo time gaya jab ham sab tumhari baat maante the, ab tum meri baat maanogi. Jao, jaakar wo sabziyan le aao.
Guddan: Ji.

They both were preparing the lunch together.

Jaya: Guddan!!
Guddan: Ji Aunty!
Jaya: Ham sab jaante hai ki tumhari aur Akshat ki shaadi kin haalaton me huyi lekin beta, kab tak tum donon apne life me un misunderstandings ko jagah dete rahoge. Tum donon ke liye behtar yehi hoga ki aapas me baat karo aur apne beech sab kuchh sort out karlo. Ye sab bilkul bhi achha nahi lag raha hai.

Guddan was just listening silently to her words.

Jaya: Guddan beta, tum sun to rahi ho na.
Guddan: Ji Aunty!
Jaya: Mai Maa hun Akshat ki, bohot achhe se jaanti hun use mai. Bohot ziddi hai kisiki nahi sunta, sirf apne man ki karta hai lekin ye bhi jaanti hun ki tum hi ho jo use sambhaal sakti ho. I know it's kinda weird saying it to you but Antara ke jaane ke gam se sirf tum hi use bahar nikal sakti ho. I know tum donon ke liye bohot mushkil hai ye but tum donon ko thoda time chahiye. Give yourself some time, give each other some time. Sab thik ho jayega.

Guddan: I agree! And I am even ready to give this relationship a chance lekin kya Akshat, mere is koshish me mera saath denge. Kya wo bhi meri tarah is rishte ko ek aur mauka denge? Mai khud ko, is rishte ko, Akshat ko waqt dena chahti hun lekin kya wo bhi mujhe waqt denge? Waqt un rishton ko diya jaata hai jahan hame kisi improvement ki ummeed ho, jahaan ham apne koshishon ke return me apne partner se kuchh expect karein. Lekin hamara case bilkul different hai. Jaya: Tumhi ne to kaha na Guddan ki mujhe tumse zyaada experience hai, to usi experience se mai bhi keh rahi hun. TRUST  ke saath TRUTH bhi us foundation ka hissa hota hai. Tumne bhi to Akshat se sach chhupa kar rakha hai. Ham sab achhe se jaante hai ki tum Antara ke saath kabhi kuchh kar hi nahi sakti lekin jo sach tum sab ko dikha rahi ho aur jo actual me sach hai, wo donon hi bohot alag hai. Don't you think tumhe Akshat ko sach bata kar us TRUTH ke foundation ko kaayam rakhna hai, tab Akshat TRUST ka foundation rakh payega. I am not defending him because he is my son,tum apne point of view se soch rahi ho, maine bas uska point of view tumhare samne rakh diya hai. Ab jo bhi karna hai tum donon hi kar sakte ho. I know Akshat very well, wo tumse atleast ek baar ye sawaal karne zaroor aayega.

She remembered how he asked about it just few hours ago.

Akshat: Sawaal jawaab, faisla sunaane se pehle hota hai Mom. Faisle ke baad to sirf saza hoti hai. Kyun, Parv? Sahi kaha na?

He asked his brother who just entered the kitchen followed by him.

Parv: Mom, wo b......
He was about to say something but his attention diverted on the bandaid on Guddan's forehead.
Parv (holding her shoulders): Guddan, Are you fine? Ye chot kaise lagi tumhe?
Guddan (removing his hand): Mai thik hun. You need not worry about me.
Parv: Kaise pareshan na hun, I l...
He stopped in between his words when he witnessed the gazes of the three persons on him.
Parv: Mom, wo mai poochne aaya tha ki koi servant nahi dikh raha hai. Mujhse glass gir ke toot gaya tha to room saaf karwana hai.
Guddan: Mai saaf kar deti hun.
Parv: Tum kyun karogi? Baaki sab kahaan hai?
Jaya: Guddan, tum yehi raho, Mai Laila ko bhej dungi.
Guddan: Lekin...
Jaya: Maine kaha na mai Laila ko bhej dungi.
She said glaring Akshat.
Akshat: Jo mai batane aaya tha wo to bataya hi nahi. Mom, Dad aapko bula rahe hai. Aap jaldi jaiye.
She left the kitchen.
Parv: Take care. Agar koi problem huyi to mujhe batana.
Guddan: Domestic violence!
As she said these words, Akshat choked on the water he was drinking. She enjoyed this condition of his while Parv looked confused.
Guddan: Mere ek patient ke relatives me koi hai jo apne husband ke against Domestic violence ka case file karna chahte hai. Wo ek lawyer ke liye approach kar rahe hai. If you wanna take this case, I will ask them to contact you.
Parv: I will take it.
Guddan: Thanks!
Parv: Tumhe thanks bolne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Ye mera kaam hai.
Akshat was looking at them keenly while they both ignored him because they knew what he was thinking.

DINING TABLE,

Everyone were having their lunch.

Mahesh: Guddan, beta chot kaise lagi?
Akshat looked at her worrying that she would say about him. So he replied before she could.
Akshat: Wo seedhi se gir gayi thi.
She looked at him shocked. He thought that she was shocked because he lied infront of everyone but the actual reason was that he didn't say the same reason as she said to her mother in law.
Jaya: Lekin Guddan ne to kaha tha ki cupboard se saaman nikalne me use chot lag gayi.
She slightly smiled looking at him because he himself hit his leg with the axe.
Mahesh: Donon me se sach koun keh raha hai?
Akshat: Obviously, ma....(he was about to complete but Guddan glared him and he worried that she will say the actual truth).
Akshat: Mera matlab hai, Obviously ham donon sach keh rahe hai. Wo seedhi par chadh kar cupboard se saaman nikal rahi thi to seedhi se gir gayi to cupboard pe sar lag gaya isiliye ye chot.
Guddan (murmuring): Jhoot bolna hi tha to koi dhang ka bahana bana lete.
Mahesh: Akshat, tumhe samajh bhi aa raha hai tum kya keh rahe ho? Aur jab ye ho raha tha to tum sirf dekh rahe the?
Akshat: Dad, wo mai...
Mahesh: Rehne do tum! Jo bhi ye tumne reason bataya hai agar wahi ho to thik hai lekin agar kuchh aur pata chala na mujhe to.... Tum apne Dad ko achhe se jaante hi ho. Guddan, take care of yourself.
Guddan: Actually Uncle! Mujhe aapse kuchh poochna tha.
Mahesh: It's Dad, not Uncle. Bolo kya kehna hai.
Guddan: Wo, mai kal se phirse Hospital join karna chahti hun.
Mahesh: Ye to bohot achhi baat hai. Waise bhi ghar me akele kya karti tum.
Akshat (whispering to her): Pehle hospital me bhi poochlo ki unhe tum jaise doctors ki zaroorat hai bhi ya nahi. Unhe bhi to apne patients ki jaan pyaari hogi na. Tumhare bharose unki jaan to khatre me nahi daal sakte.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered her sister. She closed her eyes and the tears flowed through it. She clutched her dupatta in her fist in pain. He was never used to see her in pain but she herself has forced him to give her pain.

NEXT MORNING,

Guddan woke up early in the morning and did all the chores she could manage in that time. She served the breakfast on the dining table. Everyone were present except Mahesh. They were waiting for him to start their breakfast but heart a loud crashing sound from his room. Everyone rushed to his room to find the vase shattered on the ground.
Akshat: Kya hua Dad?
Jaya: Aap thik to hai na??
Mahesh: Mai thik hun, wo ye vase haath se lag kar gir gaya. Tum kisi ko bula do ise saaf karne ke liye.
Jaya looked at Akshat and Guddan and the trio exchanged their looks.
Jaya: Aap breakfast ke liye chaliye, mai kisi ko bhejti hun.
Mahesh: Aaj mujhe meri subah ki chai nahi mili Aur tum mujhe breakfast ke liye keh rahi ho.
Guddan (thinking): Uff, mere dimaag se hi nikal gaya. Ek kaam karti hun to doosra bhul jati hun.
Jaya: Ek din chai nahi peene se kuchh nahi ho jayega. Aap breakfast karne ke baad chai pi lijiye.
Mahesh: Sirf yehi baat nahi hai, do din se kamra saaf nahi hua hai. Saare servants ko kya chhutti de rakhi hai? Tumhe achhi tarah se pata hai mai cleanliness ke liye kitna conscious hun. Mujhe abhi mera kamra saaf chahiye. Aur saare chefs aur servants bhi ghar par chahiye. Now!

Guddan didn't cleaned his room because he was present in his room the whole day and she didn't get a chance to clean it. If he wasn't there she was busy in some other work. And she couldn't go infront of him to clean the room because she very well knew the consequence if it happens.

Guddan (in her mind): I am sure Aunty ne hi Uncle ko sach bataya isiliye wo ye sab kar rahe hai. Pata nahi ye donon ek doosre se koi bhi baat chhupa kyun nahi sakte.

After everyone had their breakfast Guddan was picking the dishes form the dining table when someone held her hand which made her startled.

Akshat: Ye lo.
He handed 1500 rupees to her. She looked at him confusingly.
Akshat: Ek rupee to hoga nahi tumhare paas, to ye raha kharcha. Cards, cash sab mere paas hai na.
Guddan: Lekin...
Akshat: Kya hua? Bohot zyaada hai kya? Thik hai to...(he picked a 500 rupees note from her hand). Itne me kaam chala lena poora ek hafta.
Guddan: What ek hafta??
Akshat: To kya ek din ke liye samajh rahi ho? Zaroorat se zyaada paise mile hai. Shukr karo ye to diye hai maine.
Guddan: Aapko mere paise mujhe hi dene me problem ho rahi hai?
Akshat: Tumhaare paise the jab tum Guddan Gupta thi, ab ye mere paise hai kyunki tum ab Guddan Akshat Jindal ho.
Guddan: You know what, mere paas aapke saath behes karne ke liye time nahi hai. Aapko jis khush fehmi me rehna hai rahiye.
Jis soch se aapko khushi milti hai aap usi me khush rahiye. Mujhe hospital ke liye late ho raha hai.

Saying that, she left from there.

Guddan: Ye mera laptop bag kahaan hai? Ek to late ho raha hai mujhe aur ab ye mil nahi raha hai.
She said searching all around for it.
Guddan: Mere kamre me bhi check kar liya, nahi hai. Aur kahaan ho sakta hai?? Di ke kamre me.

She headed towards Akshat's room but stopped at the door when she remembered his words.
She needed her laptop but she couldn't ask him to give that because she very well knew that he will again start a new drama on it. She spotted Laila who just came out of Parv's room after cleaning it.
Guddan: Laila!
Laila: Ji Guddan Didi! Kuchh kaam hai kya?
Guddan: Is kamre me mera laptop bag hai, tum laa dogi, please.
She said pointing towards Akshat's room where he was speaking to someone on his phone.
Laila: Mai abhi layi.
She entered his room after a knock and picked the laptop bag which was placed on the glass table at the corner of the room.
Akshat: Ruko Laila! Ye mujhe do!
Laila: Lekin Sahab ji, wo....
Akshat: Maine kaha mujhe do!
She passed him the laptop bag. She exited the room with empty hands and seeing this Guddan was frustrated.
Guddan: Problem kya hai inki? Khud hi jana padega.
She came and stood infront of his room with hands on her hips, tapping her right foot on the ground with anger waiting for him to come out. He came out of his room to see her standing with an angry face. If things weren't going wrong in between them, he would have laughed at her.
Akshat: Aise kyun khadi ho?
Guddan: Aapko achhe se pata hai.
Akshat: Ye chahiye tumhe?(he asked showing her laptop bag in his hand)
Guddan tried to take it but he immediately moved his hand back.
Guddan: For your kind information, Mr. Akshat Jindal, Ye na hi Guddan Gupta ka hai aur na hi Guddan Akshat Jindal ka. Ye mere Papa ka hai to is par aapka koi haq nahi banta. Isiliye aap ise mujhe waapas kar dijiye.
Akshat: Itni aasani se nahi, dear wifey!
Guddan: Aapki faaltu bakwaas ke liye time nahi hai mere paas. Mujhe hospital ke liye late ho raha hai. Bohot zaroorat kaam hai mujhe.
She snatched the bag from his hand and hurried towards the door while he was just standing there thinking something.

He immediately went inside his room and called someone.

While Guddan came out of the house, grabbed all her things and was heading towards the parking lot to take her car.
Guddan: Car keys to laana hi bhool gayi.
She was about to go back to the house but remembered that it  isn't with her but with her husband.
Guddan: Cab se jana hoga.
She booked a cab for herself and left the house.

Akshat was watching her from the window of his room speaking to that person. He ended the call with a wide smile on his face.

Akshat: Ab mai bhi dekhta hun ki kab tak ye sach mujhse chhupega Guddan...

With that he drove his car to the destination where his questions could get answered.

CHAPTER 4

Guddan entered the hospital and the memories of the incident that happened few days ago were flashing infront of her eyes. It was like it's again happening in front of her and she is unable to control it. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to relax herself. She moved further to her cabin and received warm welcome and wishes on her way by the hospital staff.

She opened the door of her cabin only to find someone sitting on the chair present opposite to hers. She couldn't see the person as the chair's back was facing her.

"Good Morning, Dr. Guddan."
She very well recognised the voice and without hesitating she settled herself on her chair.

Guddan: Good morning, Dr. Kabir!

She greeted him warmly.

Kabir: Congratulations for your wedding. It was really the exact replica of your dream wedding.

Guddan: Shuru ho gaye tum.

Kabir: Abhi maine kuchh kaha hi nahi. Waise I know, your husband is so romantic isiliye Dr. Guddan aaj pehli baar hospital ke liye late huyi hai.

Guddan: Stop speaking Rubbish!

Kabir: Tumhe to bas Akshat ki baatein achhi lagti hai. Mai baat karun to rubbish! How was your wedding night?? Kya gift diya usne tumhe?

Guddan: Aur kya hi de sakte hai wo? Ilzaam, beizzati, zillat, nafrat.

Kabir: Koi baat nahi lekin ye batao ki tumne use return gift diya ya nahi.

She looked at him questioning through her eyes.

Kabir: Nahi diya na tumne. I knew it! Isiliye maine hi unke liye gift ka intezaam kar diya hai. (Handing her a file) Antara Di ke reports. Ye lo aur ja kar us Akshat Jindal ke muh par phenk dena. How dare he, to blame you for your own sister's death??

She took the file and opened it with shivering hands. A mere look on the printed papers made the way for tears out from her eyes.

Kabir: I know Guddan ki tum kaisa feel kar rahi ho but Akshat ko sach batana zaroori hai. He has the right to know ki Di ki death ka asli reason kya hai.

Guddan: Mai unhe sach nahi bata sakti.

Kabir: Lekin kyun Guddan?? Tum Akshat ko sach nahi bata kar apni zindagi barbaad kar rahi ho. Aur mai tumhe aise nahi dekh sakta.

Guddan: Mujhe meri zindagi ki koi parwaah nahi hai. I don't care Akshat mere saath kaise behave kare ya wo mere baare me kya soche lekin mai unhe sach nahi bata sakti. And moreover, maine Di se bhi promise kiya tha ki mai Akshat ko kabhi sach nahi bataungi.

Kabir: Hell with the promise!!

He stood up with a jolt banging on the table.

Kabir: Give me a damn reason other than that promise!!

Guddan: Stop it Kabir! There is nothing else other than that promise.

Kabir: Just for a damn promise tum apni life barbaad karogi. Agar Di ko pata hota ki unke is ek promise ke wajah se unki apni behen ki zindagi barbaad ho jayegi to wo kabhi tumse ye promise nahi leti.

Guddan: I don't care about anything. Just nothing!!

Kabir: Lekin mai jaanta hun ki tum aisa kyun kar rahi ho.

She looked into his eyes trying to understand what he is thinking.

Kabir: Just because you love him.

She averted her gaze from him and drank a whole glass of water in a go.

Kabir: Ab nazrein kyun chura rahi ho. Sach kaha na maine. That's the only reason. Right?

She ignored him and started studying the patient's files present on her desk. He placed back the files and held her arms.

Kabir: Answer me!! Is that the reason?? Yes or No???

Guddan: Yes!!

Being irritated with his questions she yelled on him. But when she realized what she said she quickly composed herself and denied her own words.

Guddan: No, aisa kuchh nahi hai.

Kabir: Tum aur mai donon sach achhe se jaante hai. Tumhare alaawa agar ye baat koi aur jaanta hai ki tum Akshat se pyaar karti ho wo sirf mai hun. Aur jab Antara Di ko ye baat pata chali tab wo Akshat ko tumhare liye chhod kar chali gayi.

Guddan: Wo baat bohot purani hai. I have already cleared everything.

Kabir: I don't care. Just tell me is that the reason or not?

Guddan: Yes....(he looked at her narrowing his eyes) but not the only reason.  It's one of the reasons.

Kabir: You stupid girl! Tum ab tak us Akshat ke pyaar me paagal ho. Wo pehle Antara Di ka husband tha lekin ab jab usne tumse shaadi ki phir bhi wo tumhe bhaav tak nahi deta. And cherry on the top, now he blames you for Antara Di's death. Nafrat karta hai wo tumse lekin phir bhi tum...
Just hell with that man!!

Guddan (pointing her finger towards him): Kabir!! He is my husband!! And don't you dare to speak about him in this way.

Kabir: Wo husband jo tumhe apni hi pehli patni ka kaatil samajhta hai. Wo husband jisne tumse badla lene ke liye shaadi ki hai. Wo husband jo tumse bina kisi reason ke nafrat karta hai.

Guddan: Reason hai! Aur wo reason maine unhe diya hai. Kyunki mai Di ko nahi bacha paayi.

Kabir: You are literally out of your mind! Tum bhagwaan nahi ho, Doctor ho. Insaan ki zindagi aur maut bhagwan ke haath me hoti hai. Doctors sirf koshish kar sakte hai. Aur jo koshish tumne ki thi usme tumhe kaamyaabi bhi mili thi lekin unki death kisi aur reason se huyi. It was destined. Why don't you understand a silly thing?

Guddan: I don't want to speak anymore about that accident.

Kabir: Why???

Guddan: Because you aren't understanding me and misunderstanding Akshat.

Kabir: Tum phir use beech me laa rahi ho. Baat ham donon kar rahe hai.

Guddan: Kyun nahi samajh rahe ho tum Kabir??? Jis tarah din raat Akshat mujhe Di ki maut ka zimmedar bata rahe hai usi tarah wo bhi us accident ke zimmedar khud ko samajh rahe hai. Jitna guilty wo mujhe feel kara rahe hai, utna hi guilty wo khud bhi feel kar rahe hai. Wo toot chuke hai aur mai sach bata kar unhe aur takleef nahi de sakti chahe uske liye mujhe hi zindagi bhar takleef kyun na uthani pade, to mai karungi. Wo mujhse nafrat kare to mai bardaasht kar lungi lekin mai unko aise toota hua nahi dekh sakti chahe uske liye mujhe khud ko Di ka khooni hi kyun na prove karna pade.

Kabir (holding her arms): Guddan, try to understand! Antara Di never wanted this for you......

The door knob clicked open only to make them froze on their spot as they see the most unexpected person standing there.

Guddan (whispered): Akshat!!!

Anger was clearly reflecting through his eyes. He saw Kabir holding her hands and the tears that were flowing through both their eyes. As Kabir, sees him looking at them, he leaves her hands and wipes his tears maintaining distance between them. She turns around wiping her tears and her gaze fell on Antara's file which was left open on the desk. She immediately closed it and kept it along with the other patients files so that he couldn't doubt on that.

Guddan: How may I help you?

Akshat: I want my wife's reports which are with you, Dr. Guddan.

Her eyes were wide open and she looked at Kabir who was equally shocked.

Kabir: I think I must leave.

Guddan looked at Kabir with pleading eyes. He understood her concern and picked all the files present on the desk and left the cabin.

Akshat: I asked for something, Dr. Guddan!

Guddan: Just a minute!

She went to the cupboard where all the files of her patients were placed and started looking for the file.

Akshat (in his mind): Ab mai bhi dekhunga ki tum sach kaise chupaogi.

He gets into the flashback how he decided to collect the reports to know the actual reason behind Antara's death.

Flashback,

While Guddan was asking for her bag, she mentioned being late to the hospital and then his mind clicked that only the hospital could help him know the truth. He was called to collect the death certificate and to complete the other formalities regarding Antara's death. As soon as Guddan left for the hospital, he too drove to the hospital.

Akshat: Excuse me!

Receptionist: Yes sir, How may I help you?

Akshat: I need to collect my wife's reports.

Receptionist: Patient's name please.

Akshat: Mrs. Antara Jindal.

Receptionist: Sorry sir but there's no patient named such here.

Akshat: You must be mistaken. Could you please check again? She met with an accident few days back.

Receptionist: Oh, yes sir. Your late wife, Mrs. Antara Jindal. Actually, we keep the records of the live and dead patients separately so, we couldn't find it in the first attempt.

Akshat: It's Ok. Could you please tell me where could I collect her reports?

Receptionist: Her case was handled by Dr. Guddan and her team. So, the reports and the other related documents would be probably with her.

Akshat: Is there any other way I could get it without the knowledge of Dr. Guddan?

Receptionist: No sir, it isn't possible.

Akshat: Ok, I will just go to her.

Receptionist: Wait sir. First, let me check if she is here.

Akshat: I know she is here. Please let me in.

Receptionist: Just a minute, sir! Yeah, she checked in few minutes before. I will just inform her about your arrival.

She picked the phone to call but he denied her.

Akshat: No need, I will directly go to her cabin.

Receptionist: Ok. You can go to her cabin, 2nd floor, right from the......

She was saying the instructions but he left without even listening to her. He knew her cabin very well because he has visited her many times during the hospital hours alone or sometimes with Antara.

Flashback ends.

She placed the file infront of him. He hesitantly opened the file. The first document was the death certificate. He immediately turned it and looked for the other documents. It was only the bills he paid for the surgery and the other were accident related injury reports.

Dr. Guddan: Please sign on this!

She passed a form which tells that he has collected all the reports from the hospital and in case if anything is missing the hospital isn't responsible for that.

Akshat: Pehle, saare reports to de do.

Guddan: Aur kya chahiye aapko? Jitne the sab de diye hai maine.

Akshat: Jhoot mat bolo aur reports do mujhe. Kuchh tests karaye the na tumne Antara ke, uske reports kahan hai? Wo chahiye mujhe.

Guddan: Mere paas aur koi reports nahi hai. Jo the wo maine aap ko de diye hai. Is form par sign kariye, ye file lijiye aur chale jaaiye yahaan se.

Akshat: Don't test my patience! I know reports tumhare paas hi hai. Kab tak sach chhupaogi, Guddan? I am already fed up with this drama day by day! Mujhe bas reports chahiye aur jab tak tum reports nahi dogi mai yahaan se nahi jaaunga.

Guddan (in a loud voice): Mr. Jindal, please leave. I have nothing to help you with. Please leave!!

The nurse comes in listening to her voice.

Sr. Mahi: Dr. Guddan, your patients are waiting.

Guddan: Sister, please help him out and make him sign the form. Please send the patients in.

(To Akshat): Aapko mujh par bharosa nahi hai na, koi baat nahi. Jaa kar hospital authorities se baat kar lijiye aur pooch lijiye ki maine aapko sahi reports diye hai ya nahi. Kya maine aapko poore documents provide kiye hai ya nahi.

He left her cabin with the file.

She was taking him to the reception but she spotted Dr. Kabir moving towards Guddan's cabin. She asked him to go and she will join him later.

Sr. Mahi: Dr. Kabir! Dr. Guddan is attending patients. You can't meet her now.

Kabir: Ok. Tum ye files use de dena aur bata dena ki Antara Di ka file mere paas hi hai.

Sr. Mahi: Ok, anything else.

Kabir: When will the appointments end.

Sr. Mahi: If no new patients, then till afternoon.

Kabir: Ok. Where is Akshat? Did something happened?

Sr. Mahi: They both were yelling on each other. Ham unhe sach kyun nahi bata dete?

Kabir: Tum kuchh mat karo. Guddan ko hi use sach batana chahiye. Till then, I will handle kyunki I know wo sach pata kiye yahaan se nahi jayega. Ham paanch logon ke alaawa ye sach kisi ko nahi pata chalna chahiye.

Sr. Mahi: Ok, I must leave. He should be waiting for me.

While Akshat goes to the receptionist to ask the details.

Receptionist: Yes sir!

Akshat: Is this all which I will get?

He asked her passing the file which Guddan gave to him.

Receptionist: Yes sir. Please sign this form, accepting that you have taken all the records.

Akshat: I need some more medical reports.

Receptionist: Sir, this is all which the hospital provides.

Akshat: Treatment ke waqt uske kuchh tests huye the, I need that reports.

Receptionist: Wo to aapke family ke paas hi honge. Tests ke baad do copies reports ke prepare hote hai. Ek doctor ke paas hota hai aur doosra unke family ko usi waqt de diya jaata hai.

Akshat: Lekin mere paas koi reports nahi hai.

Receptionist: Aapke paas nahi to kisi aur family member ke paas ho sakta hai.

Akshat: Is it possible ki donon copies Dr. Guddan ke paas ho?

Receptionist: Ho sakta hai kyunki wo unki behen bhi hai. She can keep both the copies legally and the hospital will not be responsible for it.

Akshat: Lekin usne mujhe diya hi nahi.

Receptionist: We aren't concerned. It's your personal matter.

Akshat: Ok!

He signed the form and left taking the file.

Sr. Mahi: Where is Mr. Jindal?

Receptionist: He left taking the file.

Sr. Mahi: Ok, thanks!

He didn't left the hospital but instead went to the pathology lab to try knowing the truth. As he wasn't one of the staff member he wasn't allowed inside. He was waiting for someone to come out so that he could ask them. While Sr. Mahi called Dr. Kabir to inform about Akshat.

Sr. Mahi: Hello, Dr. Kabir?

Dr. Kabir: Yes!

Sr. Mahi: Mr. Jindal chale gaye.
