You could get clues into the timeline and his state of mind in his journal. If as his friends and family say, he records everything in his journal then where are his journal as am sure it holds the key to many questions.
what about his laptop and phone, the numerous SIMS, who has it and if they have it, definitely they would be able to track his history.
