Humsafar
Naina woke up and blushed at the state she was in. The night indeed was passionate and beautiful. She had discovered new sensations and it made her red from top to bottom. When he had looked at her it was as if every ounce of breath was taken from her lungs floating into the air like midnight smoke. She had been in love with Sameer for many years but today she felt like she entered a house and finally realized she was home.
Mannat ke dhage ki tarah mile ho tum mujhko
Rab karein yeh gaant zindagi bhar na khul payein her heart made a silent prayer and thanked God for giving Sameer to her.
Sameer was nowhere around, so she picked up her clothes and ran to the bathroom. Dressed in an orange color silk saree with a golden border, jewelry, hands full of bangles and light make up she looked a perfect newlywed bride.
When she reached the living room, she found her husband chasing Munna and Pandit for the prank they had played yesterday night. Munna was panting and said "Arey maine toh tujhe bachaya hai, yeh Pandit toh tujhe laal karne wala tha" . He then explained to Sameer in a low voice that Munna had heard the Shayari " Aang Aang Peela ho gaya hai, Bas ab intezaaar hai tere saath laal hone ka , toh isne kahan ki phooloun ke saath gulal mix kar denge, bhai to laal hoga aur uski icha puri ho jayegi" Sameer was shocked, their bodies would have been painted in red, as if they had played holi he was terrified thinking about the consequences. Naina would not have left her room in mortification. Munna and Sameer were chasing Pandit. " Munna ke bache ruk" and Pandit jumping over the sofa replied "Pehle ladki toh milne do, bache zarror dounga ". They gave him a real bashing and burst into laughter. Seeing Naina they all composed themselves,
"Namaste Bhabhi hum dekhtein baki sab kahan hai , aatein hai " they took this opportunity and ran outside. Sameer walked towards her slowly singing, his intense gaze fixed on her. They had felt each other, there were now no barriers between them.
Jism Jaise Hai Ajanta Kee Moorat Koi
Jism Jaise Nigahon Pe Jaadu Koi
Jism Naghma Koi Jism Khushboo Koi
Jism Jaise Machalte Hoye Ragnee
Jism Jaise Mehaktee Hoayee Chandni
Jism Jaise Ke Khilta Hoyaa Ek Chaman
Jism Jaise Ke Sooraj Ki Pehli Kiran
Jism Tersha Hoya Dikashoo Dilnasheen
Sandaleeeen Sandaleen Marmareeeeen Marmareeeeen
Mesmerized by the sensations of his voice and his direct gaze, her pulse had accelerated, the passionate words he had murmured while making love echoed, she couldn't look at him and moved towards the kitchen for her pehli rasoi before the elders joined. Sameer quickly grabbed her, sliding one arm around her waist he pulled her closer.
Husn-E-Janaa Kee Tareef Mumkin Nahi
Afreen Afreen Afreeeen Afreeen
Tu Bhee Dekhe Agar To Kahe Hamnsheeen
Afreen Afreen Afreeeen
Afreen Afreen Afreeee
"Good Morning Mrs Maheswari", this time he didn't wait and kissed her passionately. Naina accepted him and kissed him with the same fervor. He lifted his head to look at his wife standing with closed eyes, lips swollen and panting. He rubbed her back and when her heartbeat returned to normal she looked at him with all the love. Holding her face in her palms he said
Qaid khane hai, bin salakhoun ke
Kuch yun charche hai tumhari aakhoun ke
(Qaid Khane - Prison, Salakhoun : Bars . The first line means you eyes are like prison with bars)
She smiled and hid her face on his chest. He then gently kissed her forehead and pulled her into a warm hug. " I love you Naina" he mumbled kissing her hair. In his embrace, the world stopped still on its axis. Naina's mind was at peace. Their love Pure. Unselfish. Undemanding. Free. This was the love she'd waited for, prayed for. She inwardly thanked God and hugged all the tighter. A love like this was to be cherished for life. Finally, she was home. " I love you too" she replied placing her palm on his heart. Listening to his heartbeat she said
Meri har khushi har baat teri hai
Saansoun mein chupi yeh hayat teri hai
Do Pal bhi nahi rah saktein tere bin
Dhadkano ki dhadakti har aawaz teri hai
(Hayat : Life )
The halwa prepared by her was appreciated by all. The ring finding ritual both had made sure that they win together. Isn't it what a life partner means , support each other so that they win together in life.
Sameer ensured their honeymoon washed away all the lonely memories Naina had created without him in Switzerland. This time he sang all the Bollywood songs for her. Nothing says love like eating amongst the flowers. He planned candle night dinner like a fairy tale experience with the hanging candles, string lights, and paper lanterns from the trees and plants in InterLaken. His plan not only included feasting on the scenic beauty but also included some fun activities like paragliding in Interlaken, sledging in Flumserberg, enjoying the panoramic views of Swiss Alps while relaxing in Jacuzzi and of course passionate nights . It was a fun, adventurous and romantic honeymoon that Sameer had executed. Naina couldn't ask for more.
Tere Milne Se Kuch Aisi Baat ho gayi
Kuch bhi nahi tha mere pass aur Ab zindagi se Mulakat ho gayi
Once back they were busy in setting up their dream home. Contemporary interior design was selected and a garden decorated with the flowers just like in Ahmedabad. Managing work and house did come with challenges. They had to learn what activities each one took and plan based on the workload each carried.
The morning routine is the most hectic part of the day for a working couple, Naina took the responsibility of preparing breakfast considering Sameer' s love for food and Sameer owned the responsibility to make the bed and help her in the kitchen. Morning tea was always prepared by Sameer.
The kitchen was another place where romance bloomed. They cooked together, listening to music, feeding each other, dancing and showering love to each other with kisses and hugs. They got to know each other better adjusted some of their habits accordingly. Sameer was a cleanliness freak which Naina got a hold after few months. Naina 's mood swings during her periods, which Sameer gradually got used to and treated her with chocolates and sweets to keep her calm. Like the rest of the couples, it was not a smooth ride, there were conflicts, arguments but at the end of the day, they sealed their differences with a kiss.
Every time he kissed her it felt like the world stopped, leaving just the two of them to wander the earth together. Every time he held her face between his hands it felt like he was untying all of her knots. Holding her for eternity in the arms she had grown so accustomed to.He kept falling in love with her and each time it was harder than the last. Every time the feelings got deeper, more complete, more bewitching. The more love he gave her the more he had bursting inside of him. He would often say
Mujhko Mujh mein jagah nahi milti
Tu hai maujood is qadar mujhe mein
(Maujood : Present)
They had been married now for two years, but the love never faded , the more they shared the more it multiplied.
Life took a new turn when they got to know that they were going to be parents. It was an emotional moment, they both had always craved for parent's love , they knew how it felt not be loved by your own parents, their childhood had experienced the emptiness. They made a silent promise to the unborn baby that they will not let him or her suffer the same. Sameer bought a lot of sour tamarind, a variety of pickles for Naina as per the knowledge he had got from movies.
"Sameer mujhe khata khane ka mann bilkul nahi karta " she said looking at the things he had got.
"Arey Yaar Naina tum na khata khati ho, ulti bhi nahi hoti hai tumhe. Mujhe toh kuch samaj nahi aata " Sameer replied.
"Toh tum chahate ho ki mai din bhar ulti karti rahoun? khatha khane ka nahi mann karta toh nahi karta " one thing was common he had to handle her mood swings again. Sameer followed each and every instruction doctor gave religiously, sometimes it would annoy Naina. Early morning walks on the necklace road were a bliss. Sameer purchased a new car for her comfort. She never bothered him much for the initial five months, later her food carvings had made him crazy but he pampered her like a baby without losing control. She had put on weight, standing in the kitchen was not easy for her now, she would instruct Sameer sitting on the chair and he would prepare their food. Naina never liked drinking milk, he would make milkshakes and had learned a lot of healthy food recipes
"Accha Accha khaogi toh baby bhi healthy hoga na, yeh fruits, dhudh yeh saare dry fruits khane chahiye tumhe. Tabhi mere jaisa sundar bacha hoga aur tumhare jaisa samajhdhar "
"Dekho kitni moti ho chuki houn ! Ab toh tumko mai sundar bhi nahi lagti" she spoke about the insecurities.
"Naina meri jaan ! tumhare andar hamara pyar pal raha hai. Yeh chubby cheeks mein tum mujhe aur bhi sundar lag rahi ho. Ek alag hi chehare pe noor hai tumhare" he would silence all her fears with love and a lot of kisses and hugs. His love for her had not diminished but had increased many folds.
Jiske Dekh kar hi Chehare pe Khushi Aa jaye
Tum woh Khoobsurat Khayal ho
"Tumhe pata Maa ke pairo mein jannat hoti hai " when Sameer said this she instantly replied aur "pita ke pairo mein jannat ka darwaza". Parents are a blessing for any child and parenthood is not an easy task. Everyone has a unique experience.
In the last month of pregnancy Chachaji & Chachiji had joined them for support. When the due date was near Naina leaned on his shoulders "Sameer ek vaada karoge? " .
"Janeman yeh bhi puchne ki baat hai, jo bhi vaada chahiye sab manzor hai "
She trembled a bit , fumbled for words but she had to let him know. He squeezed her hands and held her close "Bolo kaunsi baat pareshan kar rahi hai meri jaan ko "
"Agar Sameer mujhe kuch ho jaye, delivery ke waqt toh tum hamare bache se nafrat toh nahi karoge na ?"
He knew why she had asked this question, he could not imagine a life without her but at this point of time, she needed assurance, a promise that he will love their baby no matter what.
"Kabhi Nahi Naina, yeh hamara pyar hai , woh jo bhi hoga ladki , ladka mai hamesha use pyar karunga. Aur tum na yeh chodke jane wali baat mat karna, tumhare saath budha hona hai mujhe Mrs Maheswari " he sealed his promise with a peck on her lips.
Kis rishte mein baandoun tumko
Har rishte ki mehak hai tum mein
The delivery was not easy, he cried along with Naina. Finally, after hours of pain, he heard the bundle of his love cry. Sameer thought his mother would have also gone through this pain, the relationship will not be normal with his mother like others but he will not shout or show his anger from now on after all she had brought him into this world.
Sameer entered the room and saw Naina, she was tired and looked pale. "Thank you Janeman, is khushi ke liye " he kissed her forehead with misty eyes.
Aapka milna maano duaoun ka kabool hona hai
The nurse cleaned up the baby and handed her to Sameer. The bright brown eyes found his and she laughed, as only a baby can laugh a sweet sound unblemished by the hurts of life. Her little face glowed from a light within, and her miniature fingers grasped his , and held tight. He held her to his chest tightly, never to let this precious bundle go,no matter what came he would protect her, love her.
The initial days were not easy, both young parents would panic whenever she cried. Chachiji was with them for initial few months until both could handle. Ramdhari and his wife joined them when Naina resumed work, it was not easy for a mother to leave her kid, Ria used to cry. There was always a conflict in thoughts between mother and a working woman. She used to cry in Sameer's arms whenever Ria would say " Mama payl nahi kalte, ofc mat jao na". The guilty feeling would seep in" Sameer mai acchi maa nahi houn na" . He knew it was a difficult phase for both of them. Naina loved working and he didn't want her to regret anytime if future about it. " Naina tum toh best MoM ho, hum har waqt saath rahein aisa nahi it's not about quantity of time but quality time. Ek din tum work from home karti ho aur ek din mai, weekend mila ke toh char din hum rehtein hai baki ke teen din Ramdhari khayal rakhta hai na. Aur kal jab tumhari beti badi hogi, you will be her role model. She will be proud that you managed both professional and personal life. You achieved your dreams without compromising as a mother". His words soothed the mother and a working woman.
Days just passed and Sameer pampered Ria like a princess all her demands were fulfilled whereas Naina was the villain who thought Ria discipline and tried to make her understand the value of things. Sameer knew Naina would take care and bring the best in their kid. Together they were best parents. When guests would ask her parent's name Ria would reply " Papa ka naam Jaanu aur Mama ka Naina devi". All would laugh at her reply and Naina would glare at them.
When Ria was three years old, Naina wanted another kid but Sameer was not ready. He could not see Naina in the same pain again. She wanted to have a sibling for Ria with whom she can grow and share a bond just like she had with Preeti. The two sisters shared everything, the ones they could not tell to elders or their husbands. It was a special bond. Pandit had finally married Preeti and they were happy, staying in US. The distance never created any gap in their bond, they remained connected through email, chats and video calls. Sameer couldn't deny Naina's wish and had agreed for the second kid.
The second pregnancy was totally different. Naina had morning sickness, she craved for sour things. Sameer was totally confused but he put his best effort and pampered his wife and a daughter. When Sameer held his second daughter, the feeling was the same as he had while holding Ria.
" Lagta hai sirf ladkyoun se ghire rehne ki dua maangi thi. Ab teen ladkiyoum ke beech raho" she teased him. But for Sameer, he had a family now. A wife who loved him with all her heart, daughters who loved him and were the apple of his eyes. He couldn't ask more and thanked God for happiness. He sat next to Naina holding her with one hand, the other one holding Ria on his lap. Tia was playing in Naina's arms and Ria asking a lot of questions about her little sister. It was a perfect moment and it was a dream that had come true for Sameer and Naina.
Kis Ruh se bane hai na jaane , Kis suyi se sile hai
Yeh kuch dhaage tere mere ehsaas ke
(Ruh : Soul, Suyi : Needle, Dhaage - threads, ehsaas : feelings)
The cycle of sleepless nights repeated along with handling Ria's insecurities. She felt her younger sister was loved more, but soon the bond grew stronger. Naina had to answer tough questions from her daughters like " Who does she love more? Or Who is best among them ? As a mother both are equal so she would smile and tell them " Aap apple ho or aap Orange ho , dono fruits hai aur dono mama ko pasand hai aur dono healthy hai. Par apple or orange hum compare nahi kar saktein na . Waise hi mama aap dono ko compare nahi kar sakte " seeing Naina handling their questions, he would remember the days when she would talk about a complex issue in simple manner. His Naina was a good mother, a good teacher and a wonderful partner.
They had led a wonderfully happy married life, Naina still felt like she was married yesterday to Sameer even though they had been in this relationship for fifteen years. When people asked the secret to a long happy marriage they would smile and say, "good communication, never go to bed on an argument and never let fun become unimportant.". She closed her eyes, reminiscing the most wonderful journey of her life while
Ek Pyaar Kaa Nagmaa Hai Maujon Ki Ravaani Hai
Zindagi Aur Kuch Bhi Nahi Teri Meri Kahaani Hai
played in the background. She closed her diary and a lone tear escaped from her eyes, but before it fell down it was sucked by the lips of her dear husband. She smiled recognizing the touch of the lips and opened her eyes to see her lifeline. The next lines of the song played and Sameer hummed along
Kuch Paakar Khona Hai Kuch Khokar Paanaa Hai
Jeevan Ka Matlab Toh Aanaa Aur Jaanaa Hai
Do Pal Ke Jeevan Se Ek Umr Churaani Hai
Zindagi Aur Kuch Bhi Nahi Teri Meri Kahaani Hai
Ek Pyaar Ka Nagmaa Hai
He spread butterfly kisses across her forehead, hugging her against him even tighter.
Tere Rukhsaar par dhaale Hain,Meri sham ke kisse
Khamoshi se maangi hui ,Mohabbat ki Dua ho tum
(Rukshaar - Face)
After a while, Naina realized that he had not taken the flight "Tumne flight miss kardi? ". He moved and rested his back on the bed rest and pulled her next to him, winding one arm around her waist and the other one playing with her fingers. "Dil ne kahan ki meri pyari biwi apni purani diary lekar baiti hai aur mujhe miss kar rahi hai , to phir socha wife ko miss karne doun ya flight ko miss karun?. the second option was easier. Meri jaan ko akele kaise chod sakta houn mai" .
"Aur client meeting ?? " she asked snuggling more into him.
"Uska baare mein baad mein sochunga, ab toh apni biwi ko bahoun mein lekar khoob pyar karna hai"
"Tum nahi sudroge " she mumbled accepting the love he was offering.
"Bigda hi kahan tha madam? " he replied his arm encircled her waist before she could blink pulling her with force, making her land on his chest for another passionate night. They kissed each other with a promise of many more years yet to be savored with their love.

With this it's the end of Hamari Kahani , I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I enjoyed writing it. If your love is true ,the relation is built on respect, trust and love then don't let it go. There are many Naina's and Sameer's who may not have got a second chance as in this story. Let go of your ego, stand up for your love if you belive in it , communicate, keep saying I love you. In summary the words of song Kal ho na ho say it best.
Chaahe jo tumhe poore dil se
Milta hai woh mushkil se
Aisa jo koi kahin hai
Bas wohi sabse hasin hai
Uss haath ko tum thaam lo
Woh meherbaan kal ho naa ho
Har pal yahaan jee bhar jiyo , Jo hai samaa kal ho naa ho
