They didn't say she was number 1 and what's more. Sonam successful run in 2018 was a surprise when some of her contemporaries failed to deliver in spite of their big-budgeted good project.

undisputed basically means number one, unless it has now having new meanings. Anyways I have beat around the bush too much, now simple thing. Sonam's PR bragged about her box office prowess, but her subsequent movie showed that she has a very low pull, hence I felt like laughing at her PR. If you think laughing at her PR is spreading negativity than go ahead doesn't matter to me, as I have had enough of fans complaining and negatively targeting forum members because they don't always shower praise on their fabs anyways. And no I am not just talking about you, but every fan who is just shocked that not everyone will praise their star no matter what and defend them when they even commit murder.

Undisputed Box Office Female Star of 2018. Not eternity. Sonam had an undoubtedly successful 2018 through a mixture of luck and smart film choices.

But man, look how far the unassailable Khans fell in 2018. Khan tabah ho sakta hain to Sonam kis khet ki mooli hain. 😆

Sonam is a bankable star. She will sign films with the stars/scripts to be hits (Sanju/Padman). She will make films with smart budgets so they yield profitable in the long run (VDW. But as a Sonam Kapoor fan, I can and never will expect her to be a reigning box office queen. She lacks the talent and charisma to ever become YUGE. Also too many people hate her to give her films a chance - until there is something else compelling enough.

Anyway, which was the last LGBT film that was a box office "hit." I don't mean critically acclaimed or well received. But one that had a wide opening with universal commercial appeal.

Subject Matter + Sonam = Hard Sell

But no matter what Had to have high, high hopes for a living

I'm not interested on attacking people on the Internet. Yeah arguing is fun but that's about that. As for Sonam don't worry on this forum it's usual that people bash her so it would be hard to complain about it seeing as it's the norm here.

If you felt like laughing at her PR, then I felt like laughing at those who were selling her short and calling her jobless in 2017 because she didn't have any release.

People are well aware that Sonam isn't a box-office puller and that she's not some superstar hence why we are always saying her choices are paying off.

Articles often use catch phrase to have people read their article. It has to be taken with a pinch of salt and for this people have to actually read the articles and not stop at the title.

Sonam had a really good year because no one was expecting her 2018 movies to work so well.

Pad Man dealt with a sensitive subject and still worked at the box-office despite it and Padmavaat. It also led to the government taking notice of the struggle of some women in the country and this facilitating their access to sanitary pads and to drop the GST on sanitary (I wish they'd do that in my country too regarding products destined to mentruation). Some places like theaters and train stations.

VDW was a female-centric movie with an adult rating and even the team wasn't expecting such a great response. They were pleasantly surprised.

Regarding Sanju, people weren't sure it would be such a success as Ranbir isn't shinning in the BO lately, that it dealt with Sanjay Dutt's controversial story (which people called whitewaching), and that it was RH first movie in years without Aamir.
