@Bollywoodlaver-No one here is denying that Alia is leaps and bounds a much better actress than Ash. Most are applauding her for calling out the nepotism and the power that male stars have in calling the shots in film-making.

Ash may have got thus far solely coz of her looks like you say but there's no denying that whatever she is(talent or no talent) she is self-made and not got to where she coz of some sugar daddy's ashirwaad, and I really don't think the bachan bahu tag has done her career any such wonders really.

Answer lies in your own question. Anything innovative and inclusive stops when you slowly stop outsiders from entering your industry and distribute work amongst your own kith and kin and the already established, within the industry. Nepotism is much beyond just actors and actresses. Most of the people are insiders here. Be it future star kids who work as ADs on big film sets (who have no intention to direct) or musicians like Amaal and Armaan Malik who always get the upper hand (Look at the recent IIFA awards where Amaal, Tanishq Bagchi and someone else won best music award for BKD and they only showed Amaal talking about his famous dad and Kjo while Tanishk's segment was edited out when actually the most famous song of BKD till now has been by hime-Tamma Tamma). Lyrics are still written by the same people who have always written for songs like Javed Akhtar,etc. There's no scope for outsiders breaking into non acting departments in big films.

People like Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar get to assist directors like Mira Nair and cinematographers like Manmohan Singh for a big film like Lamhe. Same goes with fashion designers,art directors,etc. Everyone initially looks like an outisder but with time you slowly find out most of them are related to someone or the other in the industry. Starkids like Janhvi and Suhana are put on big magazine covers over well known models, these insiders are launched as glamour queens so what else can you expect when the industry itself doesn't allow actors to audition and get a chance to act in big films? Obviously it'll come down to only fashion and glamour.

Not saying that the industry is filled with only insiders but recently in the last few years, the ratio between insiders and outsiders working has been shocking. You will never get creative films unless you let in outisders from different backgrounds work in big films that has a bigger reach sharing their life experience that goes beyond London,Paris and South Bombay.

I am not saying that Kjo doesn't contribute in nepotism. But why only he called out for it. Whole BW is nepotism based. The moment anything wrong happens in BW people start bashing KJO and Alia Bhatt. As if rest are some dudh ka dhula.

its not about aishwarya being able to do the roles or not! she is speaking up for alia's contemporaies and all the outsiders out there. other actresses can do alia's role without a doubt! Its Alia-kjo against all of them...not aishwarya. I am done complaiing about alia and her getting roles..that wont change, she will get the best opportuntiies.

she is almost like kareena who was supported immensely and favored by the industry espeically by kjo, got the best opportuntiies initially ...but than surprise...there came deepika, priyanka, and katrina.
