India's first Netflix show, 'Sacred Games', that stars Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte in lead roles, recently came under scrutiny for its graphic content, bad language and unfiltered look at Indian politics.

When asked to comment on the same, Saif Ali Khan, who plays the role of Sartaj Singh in the original series, said that he feels one could get killed in India for simply giving voice to their opinions.

"If you date someone from the wrong caste, somebody will kill you in some parts of India. That's just the way it is. I don't know how much you can criticise your government in India, somebody might kill you, Saif said in a recent interview to The Quint.

"It will be deeply frustrating if something happens to the show. If someone says you can't air this or if Netflix is discontinued. Then that will be my turn to be outraged, Saif added.

Sacred Games is good show minus the expletives.

In 2019, Not only do we have the entire opposition's Maha Gatbandhan party against the PM, we also have an ENTIRE bandwagon of haters who would go on an overdrive to cry rivers on the sorry state of democracy in India coz Congress is not in power' . It would be an entertaining year for Indian politics.

I think he isn't wrong. I think he is saying there are people who will be so outraged or from a Sangh or some extremist org who will kill you if you speak against the govt. Not really get killed by the govt. for speaking against it. So yeah that's possible in India. You don't know what kind of crazy people there are around you unless you get in a situation with them.

Killed is an overstatement.. but yes the uproar will be huge..
What I wonder is, if the same kind of stuff that is shown in sacred games, if it is shown in other countries.. Asian countries at least, where the government, religions or country at large is criticized, will the people take it easy? or is it just India where the people create outrage and uproar?

Oh, come on!
I see the government being criticised day in and day out on Twitter. However, complete creative freedom has been a problem from the time of Nehru, as almost every government has sought to ban books, movies, songs it thought inappropriate to its interests, and the uproar on social media seems like a big deal because its something that didn't exist earlier, as oridinary folks didn't have any medium to put forth their views. Now that such platforms exist, I don't see a point in complaining about it unless the uproar involves direct threats to physical violence.

Btw, I haven't seen Sacred games and I don't think anything will happen to it.
