Her first marriage was with a Hindu man Narottamdas Khatri alias Bachi Babu who converted to Islam and adopted the name of "Nazeer Mohammad" their son was Akhtar Hussain. as per wikipedia Jaddanbai Hussain was born in 1892, allegedly, out of an illegitimate relationship between Daleepbai and Motilal Nehru, a Congress President. Her half-brother was a freedom fighter and the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. She was brought up as a Muslim by her mother and stepfather.

my 2 cents, It should not be forced upon anyone and I do not necessarily agree with changing religion to get married and why this process is there in the first place. People should change this tradition. Time to Progress! But to each his own.

Then why she was buried not cremated and Sanjay has her name tattooed in Urdu , her kids always acknowledge that she was a Muslim

And Even if she did it was 60+ Years back ... now days there r new laws , acts for such marriages
