Saree is very uncomfortable n people prefer wearing comfortable clothes on a daily basis. and not knowing how to drape a saree isn't shameful .

It is nice for a woman to know how to tie a saree. But a man should also know, how to tie dhoti.

It is always women, who have kept India's tradition alive. Till last generation, women used saree as daily wear, had plaits.
Men left dhoti and and Shika centuries back under British influence. (Even though British clothing style never suited Indian weather).

Exactly, when questioned about Dhoti, he said Dhoti is dead, so why not shame Indian Men for letting it die ??

Ugh! Clothes are all about style and comfort. People take them too seriously. What is so shameful about not knowing how to carry or drape an outfit?
Tbh I find sarees uncomfortable for everyday wear. It's an occasional wear for youth these days. How does one pee while wearing that? LOL.

honestly, peeing is more easy in a saree, cause its just like a skirt. To make it more comfortable, you can pin the plaits to the underskirt, that will keep it in place.😊

Of course there is. I don't know how to drape a sari but I won't be shamed for not knowing it.

The fact that ppl applauded Sabya for saying that makes me worried that were really regressing .

He is sounding like vivek agnihotri on twitter who made a similar statement saying why actresses don't wear sari instead of evening gowns for award nights and events.

Ultimately it's choice.

Sabya is obviously peddling his pseudo-nationalistic narrative to make a headline but my point wasn't about his statement at all.

@Bold: Do you live in India? If yes, then I am surprised. Isn't it like a basic knowledge one must possess? Not wanting to wear it is just an after-thought and nobody should be forced to do something that goes against their personhood. At home I've been trained( same is the case with most South Asian and Asian immigrant households) since childhood to converse in my mother tongue(so as to not forget one's roots) whereas the cousins in India speak English at home. I've always thought that's kinda weird.

Waise aajkal ke ladko ko pucho toh 80k mein 100 lingerie khareed le instead of wasting it on a single saree 😆 . Arre jisko jo pehenna hai pehne usse sanskaar ka kya lena dena, aur dhoti bhi national dress hai for ladke, dhoti pehenke kiun nai aaya conference mei ? Ajeeb hai 😕

i cannot recollect where or when i heard it bt srk told once that
he finds sari most sexy dress...as the navel often gets revealed..
n perverts do stare..
so i do not find it alarming or shameful if women prefers to ditch the
sari unless they are in known environment of familiarity like say some
weddings or puja etc.

The relationship between an Indian woman and saree is that of a serpent, the designer said.
