But jab producer and distributor both made profit, how is the movie not a hit?
You say hit tag given on basis of distributor's return. Distributor clearly earned profit.

The other profits shown are those made by the producer. So no one made losses. Logic hain boss in declaring it a hit.

Well I see lot of people are questioning why they sell the movie for half price. It's a false assumption
The truth is, big budget films have many ways to cover their budget. They only sell the movie in India for half price doesn't mean, that's the only income they have.

If I made a product for a certain price and if I have 5 markets, I will use all 5 markets to recover and make profits , its simple as that.

It's impossible to make profits alone on Indian rights for a big budget movie. If PV's budget is 215 cr, if they sold the movie in India for 220 crs to make profits alone in India, Indian market needs to collect approximately 375-400 cr NET to break even. That means, with the tax, they simply needs to collect approximately 550-600 cr GROSS through movie tickets in India. That is impossible.

Not only padmavat, none of the films currently try to cover their budgets in India alone. Specially for big budget movies, its impossible to cover their entire budget in India alone. India's market is not enough, so why would they?

Thank you for explaining so lucidly but most seem hell bent on ignoring your reasoning since it goes against their biases😆

I don't know why your post has been ignored. 😉 😆

Satellite + Digital: Rs 85 cr Music Rights: Rs 15 cr

When aira gaira wants to be famous on Twitter they become trade analyst.

Copy paste the numbers of the biggest Khan's biggest movie Dangal for a new release... and get popular.

BM got 35-40 crore from satellite rights.. which was a flop on TRP game... And here they are paying the remake of BM as much as Dangal.

Only Aamir's and Salman's movies get 15cr from music rights. Dangal's satellite rights was sold at 70-75 cr which was the highest... Digital rights was 20 crore that one was also the highest.

So Aamir's and Salman's movies make 100-110 crore from Satellite/Digital/Music rights. Reason? Their previous movies were hit on TV, online streaming, and music blockbuster.

And here a director/cast's movie earned as much as Aamir's and Salman's because their previous movie flopped on TV, music no one except fans play at jagrata, streaming.. maybe Bhansali and his maids watch that movie 5 times daily.

If all the trade analysts are saying it's a Hit/Superhit.. I am going to believe them..
They know and understand best.. while we people sitting online have zilch knowledge about how all this works and still fight for pages on a topic...
