Because Producers fudge box office figures. Even if be believe that Rakesh Roshan is honest, and Krrish 3 collections are not manipulated. Still we can't believe that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is a Superstar, and his movies earn as much as the Khan films.

BOI is not authentic, but it is still better than the rest. And their figures and verdicts become gospel truth because people can't believe different sources for different movies. You have to believe one trade site only, and stick to it for all movies.

Unlike early days, Film tickets are not the only way to cover budget and make profit for films, especially for big budget films. It's a combination of sources and this is 21 st century.

Padmavati budget is 215 cr. It has Indian Distributor . rights, Overseas Distributor rights, Satellite rights and Music rights and some brand package deals behind it to cover the full budget and made profit. It's the case with all big budget movies.

Verdict depends only on Indian distributor share. They are the distributors, so that initial cost they spent on distributing is also 0. Looks like they sold the movie in India for sub distributors for around 100 cr. So if it's Indian business is NET 236 cr, that means approximately share is around 118 cr, which indicates a HIT. Because Indian distributors spent only 100 cr, buying the film though it's budget is 215 cr. It has nothing to do with the budget. The bottom chain in the business covered their price and making profits, so it's a HIT/Super HIT.
