Part 10
The next day Anika woke up with a smile on her face, after two long weeks she felt great as she had a very peaceful sleep. Shivaay's words echoed through her mind...
Shivaay: ...Tomorrow we're going to spend the whole day together...just me and you...
Anika smiled as she remembered how his dimple dented his right cheek. She jumped out of bed and decided on what to wear for the day then made her way into the washroom. Half an hour later she walked back into her room and got ready, fixing her hair and putting on some makeup, then she fixed up her room and made her way downstairs to the kitchen.
Anika: Good morning mama...papa... - hugging each of them
Saakshi: Arre waah...someone's looking very pretty this morning...
Ram: Hmm...what's the plan for today?
Anika: I don't know yet... - biting her lip
She was fully ready but she didn't know what she was going to do today. At the same time the doorbell rang and they all looked up curiously; Saakshi went out of the kitchen to open the door and came back a moment later with Shivaay, Gauri and Omkara.
Anika: Hi guys... - smiling
Gauri: Hey Anika...hello uncle...
Ram: Hello...so where are you all off to?
Omkara: Actually uncle last night we decided that we would spend the day out together...we thought of going Thorpe Park...
Saakshi: That's nice...
Gauri: Aunty...can Anika come with us...please?
Saakshi: Of course...
Anika: - smiled widely - Thanks mama...you guys come in...
Ram: Yeah...come in... - taking them into the living room
They were seated in the living room while Anika had her quick breakfast and then went back upstairs to grab her bag and stuff. They left saying bye fifteen minutes later and settled in the car, Shivaay watched her silently with a big smile on his face as she sat in the front seat with him giving the couple the backseat.
Anika: What about Rudra and Bhavya? - turning to the back
Gauri: Bhavya had made plans already...and Rudra said he didn't want to tag along with us couples...
Omkara: C'mon Gauri...he said he was busy... - laughing
Gauri: He did say he didn't want to tag along with mushy couples... - making a face
They carried on talking excitedly about last night's party as well as the day ahead of them until they reached there. They got out of the car and made their way to the entrance, both couples had their arms around each other excited about spending the day together and having fun.
They went on roller coaster rides like Quantum, Rumba Rapids and Colossus which frightened Gauri and Anika slightly but they had their partners by their side making everything seem well. The queues were extremely long but they had expected it and they made most of their time worthwhile having fun and messing around while waiting to get on the ride. Shivaay and Anika were having so much fun that they had forgotten about their troubles of the past two weeks.
After riding on Colossus they decided to have a break and grab something light to eat as Gauri moaned she was hungry. They settled on a near bench and munched away on chips.
Shivaay: Gauri...because Rudra is not here that doesn't mean you can take his place by moaning that you are hungry... - laughing at her
Gauri: Shut up Shivaay...I was really hungry...I was so excited this morning that I didn't even have my breakfast...
Shivaay: That's your fault... - making a face at her
Anika: C'mon Shivaay...leave her alone...
Omkara: Yeah...leave my fianc alone...eat up Gauri...
Shivaay: Oh come on...Gauri you need to control your diet before the wedding...
Gauri: What? - rounding on him - ...Are you trying to say I'm fat?
Anika: Shivaay how could you? - smiling
Shivaay: I didn't mean you're fat...I just mean...
Omkara: - cutting him off - Gauri...ignore him...I just want to tell you that I will love you no matter what...
Gauri: - looked at him sweetly - I love you Omkara...
They became all mushy as Shivaay and Anika watched them with big smiles on their faces. Sometime later they decided to go back onto the rides. Shivaay pointed out to Nemesis Inferno which they all went on then they made their way to Tidal Wave which made them all excited as they loved water rides. An hour later they walked off of the ride fully drenched and laughing at the state of each other having a great time. They took time to dry off and played some games at the stalls winning cuddle toys for their girlfriend and fianc before hitting the rides once again.
Shivaay and Omkara decided to go on SAW while the girls refused to go on and they waited for them to come off of the ride then walked away. They went to Vortex for the final ride then went to the sweet shop filling their bags with all sorts of different sweets, candies, dummies, heart shaped lollies and candy floss. They had lots of fun that day and as it was nearing six o'clock they decided to make their way back home, walking in pairs they went to the car.
Gauri: I really had a great time today...life is so fun...isn't it? - turning to Omkara and feeding him sweets
Omkara: Yep...when you have your loved ones close... - kissing her cheek
Shivaay: - looking into the mirror at them - Calm down guys...we're still here... - laughing
Anika: Ignore him... - turning back to face them, Gauri was blushing - ...but seriously though...this holiday has been very eventful...don't you think?
Gauri: Definitely...going to Barbados...Shivaay going home...you meeting your family after seventeen years...our engagement...and now a day out like today...it's been really great...
Shivaay: I agree Gauri...lots have happened...but you know what I missed...
Anika: What's that?
Shivaay: Celebrating my birthday with you guys...and Omkara's pool party...
Gauri: Oh yeah...we didn't have the pool party this year...
Omkara: I think the engagement made up for it...but there's one more thing left...
Shivaay: What's left?
Anika: Yeah...we've mentioned everything else... - thinking
Omkara: How could you of all people forget Anika... - laughing
Anika: What? - turning to him curiously
Omkara: It's results tomorrow!
Anika/Gauri/Shivaay: WHAT???
Omkara: Yes...we're getting our exams results tomorrow...
Anika: I can't believe I forgot... - getting nervous - ...I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow...but I'm nervous already...
Gauri: With all the engagement preparations I forgot all about our results...
Shivaay: I didn't even realise that six weeks have passed so quickly...wow...
Omkara: - looking at Anika who was very nervous - Don't worry guys...whatever happens tomorrow...we'll see about it...let's just take it as it comes...
Shivaay: Yeah...you're right...
They made their way home, it was after nine when they said bye to each other and went to their own homes. Anika said bye to Shivaay and thanked him for such a lovely day then went home, she had dinner and decided to hit her bed thinking of what was going to happen tomorrow. She texted all her friends with a reminder of the results tomorrow and wished them all luck before going to sleep.
It was finally their results day and Anika woke up very early and very nervous that morning; she sat up in bed thinking of what her results should be. She tidied up her room and bed, opening the curtains and balcony door letting some fresh air enter the room. She chose her outfit and made her way into the washroom. She came out forty minutes later after she had a long cool bath to calm her down but she still felt scared as she walked back in her room drying her hair. She did her hair and makeup putting on her usual jewellery and looking at herself for the final time in the mirror before going downstairs.
Anika walked down the stairs slowly and into the kitchen where her parents were sitting having their breakfast. She was in a slight trance as she walked into the kitchen and sat down in between them at the table.
Ram: Anika... - putting his hand onto her arm - ...what's happened...yesterday you were all excited when you walked in here and now today you are very quiet...
Saakshi: Is everything okay beta? - concerned
Anika: Uh...umm who actually papa... - very nervous - ...mama...today I'm getting my results...so I'm just a bit...
Ram: ...Nervous... - finishing her sentence
Anika nodded and they smiled at her.
Saakshi: Don't worry Anika...everything will be okay...
Ram: And you don't have that much to worry about...you've already got your place at TFI...right?
Anika: Haan papa...I know that but...it's not just about TFI...I'm hoping for good results...I want to make you both proud...
Ram: And you don't need to worry about that either,...because you've always been a great student and you have already made us very proud...
Saakshi: Anika there's no pressure on you...we're already very proud of you and you don't need to prove anything to us... - smiling at her
Anika: Thanks mama...thanks papa...
At the same time the doorbell rang and Ram offered to go and open the door. Anika drank her tea and got up quickly as he walked back into the kitchen with Shivaay who stood there calmly and waited for her.
Saakshi: All the best to both of you...
Shivaay/Anika: Thanks...
Ram: Good luck... - to both of them - ...take care... - to Anika
Anika: Bye...
Shivaay: Bye uncle...bye aunty...
They walked towards the car and Saakshi and Ram saw them off waving to them as they drove away. Anika sat silently next to Shivaay twisting her hands around each other nervously. Shivaay smiled at her and spoke sweetly diverting her nervousness until they reached the school, he parked the car and as they walked hand in hand towards the hall and Omkara, Gauri and Bhavya joined them.
Omkara: Hey guys...ready?
Shivaay: Yes...we're ready...right Anika... - turning to her with a smile
Anika: Yep... - confidently as Shivaay gave her hand a little squeeze - ...but still slightly nervous...
Omkara: You'll be okay...we all will...
Gauri: I hope so...
Omkara: I know so... - smiling down at her
Gauri: - moving away from him and staring into the distance - Wait...is that Rudra standing there?
Shivaay: Where? searching the area
Gauri: There...outside the foyer... - pointing
They all stopped and looked in the direction she was pointing in; Rudra was stood a little way away from the crowd with one of his legs propped up against the wall and was waiting for the doors to open. They neared him and he stood up straight.
Shivaay: Wow...someone's early!
Gauri: Seriously Rudra...you're not one that is known for being early...is this the first time in the past seven years that you've got here before all of us? - laughing and the others joined in but one person
Omkara: Right Gauri...and look at that...it had to be the LAST day! - they all laughed
Rudra: Very funny guys... - straightening up - ...c'mon be serious...
Anika: What's up Rudra...everything okay? - concerned
Rudra: Yeah Anika...everything's fine...don't worry... - smiling slightly
Anika: Even I'm very nervous...
Omkara: Like we've said a million times already Anika...you are the last person that needs to panic...your place is already settled...
Shivaay: Yeah...that's true...they're not interested in a few letters on a page...that doesn't mean anything to them...they're looking at your experience and your products...
Gauri: And you already have that...and they've seen that...so don't worry...just chill... - smiling at her
Anika: Thanks guys...
Rudra: - looking down at his watch - ...It's almost nine...
They all looked around at other class mates and students who were standing around sharing their nervousness and wishing each other luck. The moment the clock struck nine the doors were open and the students rushed in; the gang separated going to the table which was labeled with the letter of their surnames. They grabbed their envelopes and made their way back outside, they walked towards their usual bench and sat around it three on each side.
Omkara: Okay guys...we'll open our envelopes and each read out our results one at a time...fine?
Rudra: Cool...start with Shivaay...
Shivaay: Why me? - looking around
Gauri: Just go ahead...
Shivaay: Fine... - making a face
On the count of three they all tore open their envelopes and looked at their papers.
Omkara: Go on Shivaay...
Shivaay: English A, Maths A*, Economics A and IT B... - turning to Anika with a smile
Anika: English A*, Maths A, IT A and Textiles A*... - smiling widely at everyone then turned to Rudra
Rudra: IT A*, Economics A, Business B... - turned to Gauri who was opposite him
Gauri: Art C, Photography B, IT B and Textiles A... - looked over to Omkara
Omkara: Economics A, IT A and Business A... - turned to Bhavya
But she stayed silent looking at her paper; everyone looked around curiously at each other but Rudra who sat there with a smile on his face.
Anika: Bhavya...are you okay?
Gauri: What's wrong...?
Omkara: Bhavya... - putting his hand on her shoulder
Rudra stood up and plucked the paper out of her hands making her come out of her trance and turn to him, he scanned the paper with a big grin on his face and everyone gave him a curious look thinking why he was being like this.
Rudra: Just as I thought...
Shivaay: Rudra c'mon... - turning to him
Rudra: No Shivaay...there's a few words I have to say...
Omkara: Rudra this is really not necessary...
Rudra: - ignoring him - Actually to be precise...I have a speech which I've prepared...just for this occasion...
Gauri: Rudra please...
Rudra: - ignoring her he stood up on the bench in front of all of them and read from the paper - Textiles C...Photography D...Art...E...and...last...but not the least...IT... - he jumped down from the bench
He walked around the bench as everyone stood up, he made his way towards Bhavya and stood two inches in front of her, he bent his head down to look into her eyes.
Rudra: May I congratulate you...I.T...U...UNGRADED!
Everyone stood in shock watching Rudra's behavior towards Bhavya. A single tear fell from her eyes onto her cheek and Rudra smiled widely at her in this condition...
Rudra: - spelling out each letter - F.A.I.L.U.R.E...Failure...
