On one hand her husband is dead, on the other hand she was forced to give up her son for his safety. Amara is dead and gone, Mahendra ended up in a new home but Deva ?? Forget about food, shelter and clothes she had no one to even cry her woes out to. From dawn to dusk she had to only think about her late husband, son and pick up twigs. It was not for 1-2 years but 25 years. Atleast Sivagami breast fed Amara, Deva didn't even get to do that also. How painful can that be ! I'd rather Sivagami kill Amara and Deva directly than to put them through this. Sigh !!

that's why Darling said that Devasena's was the most painful character in the movie..
No wonder our Sweetamma cried like a baby on the script narration!

In fact Devasena is a character that makes us admire her instead of feeling sorry for her.. Her poryrayal was so strong that I don't sympathize with her and she doesn't act being the victim.. She's a symbol of strength and pride and I only feel proud of her.. Even at the moment when Mahendra sees her chained like that and gets angry, she wasn't the one crying and getting sympathy.. Instead she was proud that her belief came true.. And it was like she saw her son running around the palace giving tough time to the soldiers.. 👏

no one felt sorry for her! Everyone were angry on her behalf!

Devasena's life is analogous to pain and there's no other way to put it, however, I've recently lost someone on the personal front, who was a father to a little daughter -- she recognizes that loss even at a very, very young age. (I don't want to get into details here b/c it's very personal but I wanted to highlight what a child goes through when they lose a parent even when they've barely had time to bond/recognize that parent)

In that sequence we see Mahendra keeping his hand on the Shivalingam and pouring his blood as offering right? as this particular line comes as BGM

It literally means that he is supported by the Daughter of mountain king and her consort!

Here the inner meaning is
Mahendra is seeking support and strength of his mother, and her better half.. ante Amarendra!😆

Oh okay.😆
