So today's episode finally showed Arjun confessing the truth of his and Maya's relationship to Ayaan. And what was that truth??? Well nothing that we don't already know. So apparently his issue with Maya is exactly what he has been harping about all this while. Nothing more to it.😕 . He is just frustrated and suffocated by her controlling behavior and the fact that he does not have the freedom to do ANYTHING. Ok fair enough, any sane person would feel that way if they were controlled to this extent by someone. Maya is completely wrong in doing what she is doing.
BUT what I don't understand is WHY has Arjun not even tried to UNDERSTAND why Maya is the way she is and WHY has he not tried to get her help?? I am not talking about understanding her NOW or trying to help her NOW, because obviously 3 years is a long time to be in such an unhealthy relationship and right now he is DONE with her and doesn't really care about helping her anymore. What I am talking about is maybe 6 months into their marriage, or 1 year into their marriage, whenever he started seeing signs of this unnatural control, when she first installed the CCTvs around the house, when she first harmed herself, when she tried to commit suicide the first time...Did he stop, take a step back and try to understand what was wrong with her? Why she was THIS insecure about losing him?? Obviously trying to kill yourself at a drop of a hat is not normal behavior, so did he consider consulting a psychiatrist to understand her condition?? Did he try to reason with her, make her feel more secure, understand why she din't trust him, do something to instill that trust?? Did he try to get her any sort of medical help at all??
Maya needed someone in her life who could stand up to her and tell her that she was wrong, who could control her and force her to get help for her issues, who could give her the security she craved. Jhanvi could never be that person because she was too scared of Maya and too guilty to stand up to her. Arjun should and could have been that person for Maya. He is strong willed enough to stand up to her if needed, has enough emotional control over her to make her do what he wants to if he really wanted to, I mean she would gladly jump from a cliff if he lovingly asked her to so what would stop him from using that control he has on her to make her go see a doctor or stop installing CCtvs etc?. Arjun was the only one in the position to actually do something for her but the question is DID HE?? Did he ever do any of this before giving up and deciding to end the relationship???? 😕
If he did try all this and failed then I can empathize with with him. But if he did not, if he simply got frustrated and decided to walk out then I don't think I can really empathize with him anymore. Today, the way he spoke about getting fed up and telling Maya that he wanted to leave was as if he was talking about handing over his resignation to his boss. Like the way he said that he told Maya that he was not going to be able to handle all this and wanted to leave...makes him sound like such a selfish, careless and irresponsible husband. I am not sure I can feel sorry for him, if he has not even made an attempt to save his marriage and the woman he claims to have loved.
Also, how easy was it for everyone to forgive each other in spite of so much happening between them??? Some half hearted sorry's, some dancing was all that was needed for everything to be forgiven and forgotten?? 😕 No one felt the need to sit and TALK and discuss what actually happened in these 3 years and where everyone went wrong?? 😳
Arjun's sorrys sounded like he was doing everyone a favour by apologizing. He seemed to be more concerned about Ayaan selling his jeep than listening to how Ayaan had to struggle for money in Arjun's absence. He was more interested in eating Aloo Paratha than catching up with his mother on what had happened in these 3 years.
Arjun claimed that he stuck with Maya all this while because he was scared she would harm herself and/or the people close to him. So what changed now?? Is he no longer scared for her or his family?? Or was that reason humbug, and the actual reason he was not leaving her was that his EGO was too big to accept his mistake and take that first step towards reconciling with everyone?? And now that Dusky was back to act as the mediator and save him the trouble of showing some maturity, he decides to go ahead and reunite with his family. 😕
Honestly whatever sympathy I had for Arjun after seeing his condition a few episodes ago has gone down the drain in the last 2 episodes. I hope the CVs plan to show that he did at least try to help Maya and at least tried to be a sensitive, understanding husband. If not, I don't think I can route for him at all.
Another interesting point is that once again we are told that alcohol makes a person speak the truth (atleast in beyhadhland) and then Arjun spills out all his secrets to Ayan to prove that point. So then are we to assume that everything Arjun has told till now when he was drunk is also the truth?? If that is the case then it means Arjun did marry Maya for money and considered her as his shortcut to success. Also, Arjun always loved Saanjh even when he was married to Maya. He said both these things while he was drunk.
If both these things are true then can we really call Arjun the victim here???
Honestly, I don't know what to make of Samay yet. He seems to be obsessed with Maya but then that leaves so many unanswered questions, if he so obsessed with her then where was he for 8 years?? Why has he not tried to contact her before?? Why did he chose to pose as Saanjh's boyfriend to get to Maya? He could have just landed up in maya's office like he did the other day and nothing would have changed. Not like being Saanjh's bf gets him exclusive access to Maya. Also, it looks like he cheated Maya (professionally? personally?) 8 years ago. Why would he do that if he was in love with her then? Also, Maya does not seem to be buying his obsessed lover act..why is that?? She must have her reasons to not believe him. So many unanswered questions.
His Smirk today also leaves the door open to the possibility that he might be faking the obsessed lover persona. Some of his dialogues to Maya seem too OTT to be genuine. If he is faking it then WHY?? To take revenge from maya? To help Arjun? To help Saanjh?
There so many unknowns when it comes to Samay that it adds an intrigue and mystery to his character. His character and his equation with Maya is what is currently holding my interest in the show. Which way they take his character and what effect it has on Maya, I think is going to determine how the story moves forward.
