However, having it known from Arjun himself is a confirmation of the theories or even this would have been left open for interpretation like the already million things in the show. Just like these flashbacks and insights came after some wait, I think the bit on whether Arjun tried consulting a doctor or not might come in due time as well.Generally speaking, not many people show up at a clinic until their illness (be it physical or mental illness) has worsened. Now since we do believe that Maya indeed does suffer from one or multiple (I believe she's suffering from multiple conditions), I don't think she's aware, knows, understands and accepts the fact that she needs to be treated for her issues. I think the only conditions she's aware about and probably takes medication for them are depression (it's always linked to many mental health conditions), anxiety (she's shown to be taking pills to calm herself down) and self harm.Let alone the people around, normally its difficult for even the person suffering to recognise the signs, understand that something is wrong and actually make a move to help themselves. From where and how I see it, Maya doesn't realise how grave her condition is. In her head, this is the way she is and its okay to be the way she is and she, in fact, takes a sense of pride in her 'beyhadh' ways. I have some theories on Maya's condition (born a psychopath being one of them) but I'll keep that aside for now.Supposing Arjun must have talked to her about consulting a psychiatrist, I don't think Maya must have taken it positively and agreed to his suggestion. That's considering the fact as to how she's time and again said that no one can love her upon learning her truth. Fearing another suicide attempt or some extreme reaction or action, he must have not touched this topic more than once or twice. That's just a theory as we're yet to see if he actually did anything to understand why Maya is the way she is.While Arjun is a duffer, a freeloader, awfully self centered but he's always shown that his heart is in the right place. He does care for her, doesn't want to actually harm her and certainly doesn't want her dead. So, if he's shown not to have taken any step in this regards, I'd be greatly disappointed in him because his human instincts have always been greater than anything else. Having said that, he doesn't deserve this life with Maya and he deserves to get his life back. Maya's put him under surveillance even in bathroom, that's something so grave that it can't be dismissed or overlooked. He's believed every word she said, he's been there for her at all possible times, he's stood up for her, he left his family and best friend, all for Maya and in return she doesn't even respect his privacy. Whether Maya meets out this treatment to her mother, her husband or her friends or anyone else, it doesn't matter, they deserve to get out. Period. It's not about who the sole victim is here, imo. It's about whose scales are heavier.
Agreed!! People who are seriously mentally ill, especially ones who are delusional like Maya is, rarely will ever realize that they have a problem. In their mind everything would be normal, which is why the onus then falls on their loved ones to understand that they need help and to take some action to get them that help. Obviously if a person does not believe there is anything wrong with them then they are not going to simply agree to see a doctor, which means the person trying to help them will need to reason with them, force them, emotionally manipulate them, trick them, worse come to worse drag them to a doctor if needed, because they are not going to come easy. It's not easy at all to be in a relationship with a mentally unstable person but that is where the strength of your relationship, love and character is tested.If a spouse walks out on you and gives up on the relationship the moment they notice that things are going to be tough with you, then that makes them a selfish coward. It takes a person of great character and strength to stay put and try to help their better half deal with their issues. I would like to believe that Arjun showed some strength and tried to get her help before he finally decided to give up. I'll be very disappointed in him if they show that he never even tried. We will have to wait and see what else they show.There is also the possibility that the makers don't intend to show that Maya has any "illness". Maybe they are satisfied just calling it her junoon, fitoor, pagalpan etc. Maybe that's why they have not shown anyone suggesting that she needs medical help. If that is the case that'll be a bummer. 😕On the family reunion sans any questions - This baffles me equally. 😆 While I did personally like the song sequence because it made for some good family scenes, it's weird how at least Arjun and Saanjh haven't had a proper talk. I can excuse this family scene because Arjun did give them all a rough idea about his life but perhaps, no one wanted to stress him further when he found his way back to everything he had lost just moments ago. May be, just how Ayaan and Arjun had a conversation, there might be conversations with others later. Until an injured Maya showed up at Sharma residence, his only intention might have been to make the most of his 3 days and then go back to dealing with things later.On speaking truth while being drunk - This is one thing that really annoys me. 😆 I don't know why they have to rely upon this when trying to make crucial points. I have always said that Maya's and Arjun's alliance was based on a wrong foundation. A calculative one to say the least. Pretty much like how arrange marriages happen, in a way. Maya found emotional security, strength and courage in Arjun and she latched on her life to it. Arjun found power, authority and riches in Maya and it made an ideal match in his head. These two just went for what the other was providing them with. Failing to ever realise what they themselves had to offer each other. That's one of the crucial reasons for their marriage falling apart keeping aside what kind of person Maya is and her definition of love. I still think Arjun didn't marry Maya solely for her wealth, she represented a perfect partner to him in all aspects and Arjun to her.
Agreed 👍🏼. Arjun din't marry her only for her wealth but it looks like wealth and power was a very big reason. Even bigger than "love". The fact that love was not the primary motivation maybe the reason why he began tiring of her pretty soon and also probably why his instinct was to leave rather than stay and help. Remember he already showed signs of frustration when he met Saanjh in that bar before the leap.On Samay - His character could go either ways, he's either a double agent (I doubt the writer's calibre to pull this off though) or he's a male version of Maya, just as beyhadh-ly in love with her just the way she loves Arjun. Got lots on him too but I'll save that for now as my reply is already long enough. 😆 He's also the one who holds my maximum interest at this point in the show.
