Is 'Honour Killing' = to Indian Culture?

I am so sorry for making another topic, I usually stick to max 2!

But I have one question to those going on about our Indian culture. Where was our Indian Culture when the honour killing attempt happened & Vividha was forced to marry someone?

I mean correct me if I'm wrong, is that our Indian culture? Because then I'm really scared to be part of it. There's a huge reaction on Vividha wanting to fast for Atharv, it's disrespectful to the sanctity of marriage but did your heart not feel anything when she was made to marry someone out of force? The way she was made to? Or is that INDIAN CULTURE? Because honour killing is a fact, it happens in India everyday. Should I accept it as my culture and not question it? It's ok? You'll accept that marriage because it happens with others too?

If a fast hurts you that much, how does a forced marriage not tear your soul apart as a woman, as a human?

I know I'll only get responses from the people who agree because the people who don't, won't have a valid response but I really want something to fight what I'm saying.

Just because something has been happening for 100s of years, does it mean we can't question it because it's part of our culture? Because honour killing is as much of a fact as is Karvachauth

Firstly forced marriage itself is not an indian culture. Indian woman were always given choice for marriage and thats why we had things like swayam var as part of our culture.
Honor killing is defintely not an indian thing for sure.

we know why ppl are bringing indiant culture into the debate, dont we? lol

So why are these people not questioning the ENTIRE marriage? Why are they holding it as valid. Because this whole fast issue is because they think they're insulting Indian culture BUT this also means that they accept this forced marriage as a legit marriage. They're saying it's OK to blackmail, coerce a woman in to all this.

I know their reasoning is BS! I want them to answer this though and tell me in what way does this marriage actually count!

Well, if the fact that it exists even today means it's Indian culture, then I can't say much.
But taking it lightly or dismissing it like it's not a big deal is not Indian culture. It's a crime and committing or supporting it is not Indian culture.

And word to what you said- If a fast can affect you to this extent, watching a man mercilessly beaten to pulp and left to die for simply loving a woman should have torn you from inside.

People have been shipping Ravish/Vividha like it's a legit ship. Guess that tells you how much a woman's choice matters to them. 😆

My POV

Scientifically speaking Fasting only detoxifies the body... Something that Vivdha too mentioned in the initial episodes.. Plain food is eaten or it is abstained so as to avoid any sort of negative emotions, lethargy and dullness...It purifies the digestive system and helps one remain active, concentrated, composed and calm while a person prays..

Rest whether u ask for the well being of ur loved one or whether u thank God for his blessings becomes a part of our prayer... How can anyone control those emotions... Whenever Vividha will fold her hands, she will always ask for the well being of Atharv... because that is what is always there in her mind... Whether empty stomach or being full she will always pray for Atharv's safety... This is a very much natural emotion for her... Technically speaking post their separation, each day has been a fast for her because each day she has wished for his welfare...

About Indian culture The beauty of Indian culture is that its very accepting in nature... The rules are not rigid ... They are flexible... It can be mended, broken and re-framed if required for something that is righteous...

Even lord Krishna himself broke and even manipulated many prejudices which were then considered as dharma (tradition) .. Be it Rukmini or his sister Subhadra, he went against society and its people that did not give importance to the wishes of a girl to chose her life partner... Indian Culture has never been a supporter of forced marriage...

So why not bend the rules for Vividha too... She is an exceptional case where grave injustice have been done.. Normal couples do fast for each other but they don't fast because they are married... They fast because love prevails in their relationship... They fast because they are grateful to God that he blessed them with a loving and a caring life partner.. They fast to express their gratitude, their happiness and hence ask to keep their loved one always safe and in good health... They are more than just being a married couple...

Like dude do a comparison -

Seperation from lover, he's beaten to death almost, you are made to marry a stranger on the same day v. fasting for that lover instead of the husband of the forced marriage.
