Today's singing was a parallel to the other time that Pragya sang in front of Abhi.
At that time, Abhi barely knew her. She was this gold-digger in his eyes who was also his "wife" in front of the whole world. He was unknowingly somewhat attracted to her, but that was basically it. He didn't really know anything else, nor did he want to know much more. And so when Pragya sang in front of him, he was stunned. He didn't know she even knew the basics of music, let alone that she could sing!
And the song at the time was "Sunn Raha Hai Tu," which was beautiful, but it had sad meanings to it. She had only sung on Daadi's request and more as a response to Tanu. But it turned out to be her venting out about how she's alone and no one can understand her dilemmas, indirectly singing to Abhi. I wonder if he ever caught on that those words were for him? I don't actually remember that much. But probably not.
Today, we yet again got another singing scene. However, this time, it was to make him feel better. She sang because she wanted to, not because she was forced into it. And unlike last time, today it was Abhi himself who encouraged her to continue when she stopped momentarily. I LOVED THAT! He had faith in her, he motivated her when he felt she wasn't going to continue. And she chose "Agar Tum Saath Ho," which is a huge difference from her previous choice. In fact the complete opposite. Sunn Raha Hai is all about loneliness and desperation, whereas this song was about companionship and how thats all that one needs during hard times.
(Umm, Sriti with that guitar was my woman-crush moment of the day!!!)
"Tum Saath Ho Ya No Ho Kya Farkh Hai
Bedard Thi Zindagi, Bedard Hai Agar Tum Saath Ho"
And finally, the best part was that Abhi joined in. Of course, the song required him too loll, but lets ignore that. He was stunned by her yet again, but this time because he could relate to her. The song fits them perfectly. They're in this huge mess and they're relationship is this big question mark. But somehow they've been able to survive through it all, amongst the harsh words and endless taunts, because of each other. Abhi joining her represented that not only did he feel the same way, but that she wasn't alone this time. They might not have the perfect relationship right now, but whether they'd like to admit it or not, they know they can count on each other to lift their spirits when most needed. They find solace in each other, in the craziest and weirdest ways ever (through Santa Banta jokes, through doll jokes, sharing dirty song lyrics, etc).
There was so much feel to it! It was almost like they forgot about the mess they're in right now! Abhi has yet to fully recognize her, since he doesn't understand she's the same person. Pragya still needs to learn to take that leap of faith and just tell him the truth. But they still have come a long way. When she sung for the first time, there was no love. They were married, but there was no companionship. Neither saw a future with each other, though they tried to pretend like they had one to the rest of the world. Abhi wasn't ready to listen to anything she had to say because she was this gold-digger.
This time around, there's only love, against all odds. Only companionship. They're hoping for a future together. There might not be trust, but there is this subconscious comfort that I guess keeps them together. They never let the other feel like they're alone in times of sorrow or frustration.
Sorry this got really long. But I was just very happy with how they kinda tried to make the tone of this scene much different from the last one!
A REALLY NICE SCENE AFTER SOO LONG!!!
