Swaragini
After a jubilant week, SwaSan fans seem to be
depressed with the ongoing & anticipated track. I
do
not belong to any fandom but I can understand
their
anxiety. I started watching Swaragini, initially, for
Swara because she touched a chord somewhere
deep
down, with her longing to have a father figure in
her
life. And her consistent efforts in trying to unite
her
estranged father & mother seemed to be a naive &
affectionate girl's quest to fulfill her dreams.Then
came Laksh in her life.There was an attraction
between them but Swara had more important
things to
do in life than romancing a guy who was meant for
her
sister. So the story proceeded on ...What made me
stop watching the show was Swara suffering so
much
due to Ragini's venomous deeds &
conspiracies.There
seemed to be no justification for a pure hearted
girl
like Swara to suffer so much.
I never liked the character Ragini. The character
was
too sweet for my liking and unlike Swara she
seemed
to be pampered by her family. The actress who
was
playing the role, also did not impress me with her
'one
expression for every emotion' act.
Coming back to the story, what arrested me back
to
the show was the episode, where Sanskar picks
her up
in the hospital and rushes her(inspite of being hurt
by
a nail on the wall) to the car,gives her medicines
and
drives her down to Baadi. Here, came the the real
hero
for Swara...And I was hooked. Every episode after
that was watched by many, again and again online
and
repeat telecast .I came to know about this after
talking
to many viewers. Viewers felt a poetic justification
when Sanskar fell hopelessly in love with
Swara.Slowly
Sanskar made a deep foray into viewers' heart and
soon he became the hot favourite of dreamy girls
who
wished for a boyfriend like him,woman who wished
for
a husband like him and aunties who wished for a
son in
law like him for their daughters. Men who watched
the
show too liked him because he was practical,down
to
earth and no nonsense guy. They could empathize
with
him.
# SwaSan became a household name.Soon show
loyalists were dying to catch a glimpse of SwaSan
in
the episode. When they were not shown, there was
disappointment,when they suffered, as a result of
Ragini's antics, there were abuses hurled at
characters
as well as creatives of the show. When SwaSan
expressed their love for each other,there was
celebration all over and the creatives were praised,
adored and applauded. Soon other tracks were
tolerated by audiences only for the sake of
SwaSan.
There was also a vicarious pleasure in the show
watchers when Laksh expressed his inability to
love
Ragini and swore to Swara that he could never
love
Ragini. Vindication for all that she did to Swara.
Ragini turned more evil, punishing his family.
Viewers
sighed.. Here she goes again..but who cared as
long
as SwaSan was shown. This was the general
sentiment. Many pitied Laksh for getting stuck
with
such a woman because Namish, as an actor,
bonded
with viewers as he expressed his immaturity,help
lessness and confusion well. He seemed like a real
confused wreck. So, many viewers liked him and
understood what he was going through.
Everything was going fine till one fine day, the
creatives decided to make Ragini a positive
character.
Lo behold, all hell broke loose.It did not even take
a
week.She always resented Swara's presence and
this
resentment was shown in one episode and in the
next
episode after the stupid Urvashi exposure, she was
the
goody Ragini who was so concerned about her
sister
that she accompanied Sanskar every-time he
visited
Swara in jail.And on top of it, all the characters of
the
show conveniently forgot the conspiracies and
crimes
she committed in the name of love and very soon
she
was the darling of both Maheshwari and Gadodia
family.
Viewers were like 'What the hell????' and vented
out
their frustration and anger on every opportunity
that
they got.Still they hoped for that one person's
reaction
who had sworn to not to love Ragini ever, Laksh!
People still loved SwaSan very much and eagerly
waited for their story to proceed.The makers
realised
the swaSan adoration and left no stone unturned
to
make the SwaSan confession,dates and pre
wedding
rituals a fairy tale event. Swara lovers were happy
because she finally got what she deserved.
Sanskar
lovers were thrilled ,for, he at last got his dream
girl.
The fans' frenzy was reaching a new high. They
wanted SwaSan wedding with all its glitz and glory.
New twists and turns were borne with clenched
patience. A redeemed (in a day) Ragini was
everywhere holding Sanskar's hands,shedding tears
for
her sister, who was in jail and applying mehendi in
her
sister's palms, promising her that she would never
let
anything happen to her sister. Laksh's family
especially his mother was moved by Ragini's volte
face. The makers went into overdrive in projecting
Ragini a virtuous soul.
They forgot one BIG THING.. THE INTELLIGENT
VIEWERS!
The viewers, after that dreamy sequences of
SwaSan,
and who patiently waited for their sweethearts'
perfect
wedding were disgusted. They were first
bewildered by
Ragini's change then annoyed by her insistence in
being everywhere with Sanskar to solve the
mystery
and furious when she tried to console Swara when
viewers expected Sanskar to take the lead. They
were
frustrated, angry and maddened when SwaSan
wedding
was overshadowed by Laksh who chose to unleash
his
pent up fury during the very same wedding.
It was back to 'Poor Ragini'. The viewers were fed
up !
The makers did the biggest mistake by conveying
the
wrong message that Ragini was punished by Laksh
unfairly.The family empathised with Ragini and this
did
not go down well with viewers.
The final turning point was Shekhar's promise from
swara that she would never set her foot again in
MM
house. The crazy SwaSan fans went into a tizzy,
the
logical viewers could not understand the logic,
Swara
lovers hated her father for always punishing Swara
instead of Ragini and Sanskar fans cried with him,
seeing his pain. If earlier, people connected with
Laksh, now they just did not get him. Nobody
cared
about the character Ragini except for the
characters in
the show.
Every-time Kavya who was, by the way, Laksh's
new
wife tried to get smart, the comparison was drawn
between her and the ideal bahu Ragini. Viewers
loathed this Ragini worship by Annapurna.
Swara broke her promise to her father to be with
her
love Sanskar. Loyalists were elated and loved the
pent
up longing between the lovers. They felt
relieved.They
excitedly waited for a new and enthralling track
centering around the much loved SwaSan. After all
Ragini deserved what she got, Laksh deserved
what he
got ( a wife he loved) and Daadi deserved her
lonely
laado for all the rubbish she cared to fill her grand
daughter's ears while she was growing up.
The show could have taken a new and meaningful
road
by showing Ragini repenting gravely for all her
crimes,
Daadi repenting, for not providing proper sanskaar
to
her beloved laado and Shekhar for repenting to be
a
biased father.. All this could have been made
explicit
by Sharmishta for the taunts that she and her
daughter
got from Gadodia family. No ,she chose to be
silent
siding with Shekhar and loving Ragini like nothing
happened. The only good thing she did was to
send
Swara back to MM house. There was a feeling of
let
down in the audience towards to the show makers.
It
was further added when Swara and Sanskar were
just
shown for few second in every episode and the
track
focussed on a vamp bahu and kitchen politics.
Wig drama,poison drama, fire drama, name it and
all
the 70's filmy tracks were there. The viewers did
not
know whether to laugh ,cry or bang their head on a
wall. It was hilarious because the show had turned
into
caricature of former self. People did not get what
they
wanted! The main characters were sidelined,no
romance between the newly wed couple barring a
few
to keep the viewers happy and the drama quotient
was
increasing day after day. The talents of stars who
portrayed Swara and Sanskar were wasted and
they
just filled the gaps with their investigations. Laksh
who
was loved by many for all his in competencies was
made to behave like a robot, apparently he was
being
drugged. Ragini who should have been repenting
and
trying to come to terms with the way her life had
taken was shown carrying on with a saintly
expression
as if the whole world had wronged her.There was
no
guilt, no reflection on her deeds, nothing and on
top of
that members of Maheshwari house were
defending
her to the hilt.
Gone was the logic, magic and interest in the
show.
People were turning away to watch other shows.
There
was no story for their favourite couple SwaSan and
instead of helping Ragini to move on, the makers
were
planning to reunite the ill fated pair Ragini and
Laksh.
This was the ultimate blow.
Swaragini completely lost its appeal...Instead of
introducing a new guy for Ragini or helping her to
move on in life with new goals, the makers had
decided to reunite her with Laksh. A big fail ! why?
True, I do not like Ragini but as a woman that too
a
self respecting woman,I cannot see any girl going
back
to the man who used her, insulted her, cared a
damn
for her and finally hated her. The things that they
did
to each other do not bode well for any relationship.
They broke each other's trust when they needed it
most and I request the makers to give some some
value to a girl's self esteem however messed up
she
maybe. Coming back to Laksh, it is unfair to unite
him
with Ragini because he hates her. It is not even
that
hate turned love feeling, he genuinly does not care
a
bit for her and expecting him to forget all that she
did
to him is totally unfair. He needs space at this
juncture
of his life and does not need a partner that he
never
cared about. He does not deserve this because he
is
basically a nice person. Circumstances and
proximity
to wrong people made him do many things. Give
him a
fresh lease of life. Before the show takes a
nosedive
and people turn away disgustedly with the crappy
tracks, a few points to CVs from a show loyalist.
1) The channel made everyone jubilant after they
gave
the Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Jodi award
to
our own favourite Swara,Sanskar and SwaSan.
Everyone was elated and TRP also increased. So it
was
a double whammy.
2) Since the channel acknowledged our likes,
expectations were very high for a story centered
around Swara & Sanskar. Their intensity, passion
and
talent were what the viewers wanted.
3) People liked Kavya and it could have been a
refreshing change for the viewers to see all the
fun
both daughters in law enjoying and Swara helping
her
family to accept kavya. That would have made an
interesting track but you spoilt it with the so called
vamp track.
3)There could have been a new entry for Ragini or
Sharmishta helping Ragini to get back to music.
The
viewers were fed of watching a sympathy seeking
girl
who had no spine.Either make her negative or
being
contemplative with her deeds. Right now she is as
boring as a dried stick. The makers are just driving
away the viewers with fake characterizations and
bonds that fail to impress the watchers.
Instead of concentrating on redeeming characters,
please provide the loyal viewers with a strong
story
line for the much loved jodi SwaSan..
