@bold- True that. Do you then think industry outsiders can survive being introverts?

Well outsiders have to attend party up to a certain point in time in your career, lobby himself/herself or through managers for a film so on..This is true specially for heroines who has short shelf life..If you sit at home you can get one or two good movies but making a career out of them is not possible

But for heros the scene is bit different. Look at Akki. He has been nowhere near any party for long but doing well as an outsider. But he had that loyal group of directors and producer who used to cast him in loop. So a strong network is very important rather than being extrovert. Introverts also can do very well provided they have network for right kind of people

ARK seems to have no gumption whatsoever. does he live on a farm when he is not doing a movie. but then look at arjun he seems to be in btw his movies do reasonable well. bt on IF he isn't seen as a success. for the females whether they an introvert or extravert it does not matter to their stardom if they have any that is coz only their PR articles count

I disagree @Sandib
I dont know whether ARK is introvert or extrovert real life but he gives away the vibe of being not interested at times. Ranbir is introvert but always comes across as earnest and eager to prove himself. Same for DP, Kat who are shy people but they never gives way that not interested vibe. On the other hand Kareena who seems to be very extrovert often tagged as lazy not hardworking

Great points.

I remember AIsh saying on Simi Garewal that she had film offers even before she signed up for Miss India. I don't think that happens these days. She is known to be an unreal beauty, maybe that's why she got those offers, but I don't see it happening now.

I believe that actors dont have to possess a extroverted personality. They need to have a professional ability, a good manager, a good PR and absolutely topping network/connections.

Case in point - Katrina Kaif, she is not in any social platform but still manages to get connected to her fans thru IV and PR articles. She does not shirk from promoting her movies and she has a extremely good connections that has kept her ship floating for 10+ years.

Active social presence does not guarantee you work but connections in the industry do.. when work comes, fame will follow

Agreed.

The image is more important than who they really are.

All of you mentioned good examples like RK and Kat. They're not extroverts, but one is a star kid and the other is a prolific networking expert.

But what gives you the idea yesteryear actress/actors did not attend parties... They were avid party hoppers as present day gen..only difference is Media... There weren't many media then esp 24*7 kinda one , so we never got the live stream nor did they have Social platforms to share pics but whatever weapons they possessed then, they used it to hilt ( IV, Ads, Photo shoots, attending events/rallies)

I don't think it's necessary to be an extrovert per se. Networking is important as that is what helps you create opportunities, if an actor is able to bag the right projects and is able to win the audience's hearts then doesn't matter if he ain't all over. Few appearances during the movie can do the job. Anyway, all of this is a recent phenomenon I guess. Earlier the promotions weren't too much. Stars antics were visible only during award shows and their personal lives were known to us via print interviews. It was better. Overdose of these stars outside the realm of movies is kinda annoying.
However, I can't deny that creating an aura of oneself off screen does help at times. Like Ranveer has created a strong fan base with his off screen behavior. Alia too, greatly used the social network to create an adorable, cute image for herself. Whereas people like Shraddha are hardly visible on social media, yet created a place and a fan-base for themselves. So basically, my point is ...all these are different means to promote and market yourself. Different approach for different actors.

Not all of them. I heard Rekha was quite reticent and didn't like parties, but I could be wrong about this.

NO, Rekha became reticent after the suicide of her husband BUT she maintained her network and at her peak, she was a regular party goer...

IMO, its not necessary that brand building/ goodwill by projecting an image will benefit to a huge extent (fans who appreciate an actor offscreen, dont automatically convert into viewers, because an the current gen actor/ actress is no more the most important criteria to go for a movie, content, music, genre is...) but it will atleast not cause any harm either..its like taking a chance..if it works..then well and good..or its just a blind play

as against that, being wayy too discreet/ too media shy, dumb in IVs and negative publicity definitely does tenfolds more harm than it should..its like a magnified effect
