7 Bollywood Movies You Won't Believe Shahid Kapoor Rejected

Posted On 19th January, 2015 @ 10:21 am by MTV EDITOR

There's a reason why you haven't seen much of him in recent years.

Said reason being that the guy goes through scripts faster than most people change clothes. All jokes aside, here's a look at seven Bollywood movies that Shahid Kapoor didn't deem good enough:

1. Raanjhanaa

If you absolutely loved watching Dhanush play the role of the obsessed lover in Raanjhanaa, you have Shahid to thank - It was his reluctance to take on the role that helped us discover the wealth of talent that is Dhanush.

2. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein

Although when you take into account his history with Kareena and the ultimate fate of the movie at the box office, you'll probably find it in you to forgive him for bowing out of the production. Karan Johar however wasn't as forgiving and was said to be extremely peeved at Shahid's high-handed rejection.

3. Besharam

Abhinav Kashyap may have heaved a sigh of relief when Ranbir agreed to take up the project that Shahid abandoned, but unfortunately not for long.

4. Shuddh Desi Romance

Shahid's loss proved to be Sushant's gain; the actor is said to have even gone as far as to begin shooting for the movie before developing cold feet, with the role ultimately landing at Sushant's door.

5. The Reluctant Fundamentalist

If we ever had director Mira Nair standing at our door with an offer opposite Kate Hudson we'd probably have signed the dotted line without even looking at the script but Shahid suddenly developed an allergy to awards and turned the multiple-award winning film down.

6. Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara

In all honesty, we didn't even blame him for this. Right up until we found out that he had rejected the movie in favour of R... Rajkumar.

7. Bang Bang

100 crore grossing movies? Who even needs them? Definitely not actors in desperate need of a hit. Of course, then Haider happened and his career avoided shooting off the cliff by a hair's breadth so cheers, Shahid!

As far as I know, Shahid didn't walk out of SDR bcos he developed cold feet. He really wanted to do SDR. But that film got postponed due to Maneesh Sharma's back problems and later they decided to add songs so it took time for the songs to be made. Eventually Shahid had to back out as the new dates clashed with one of his other commitments, R... Rajkumar I think.

It is safe to say that the reasons they gave are silly ones!!..like Mira Nair's one!..Shahid would have left either because of poor script like BB & Besharam or because of dates clash..
