Arjun Kapoor @arjunk26

We have hit a new low today...forget complimenting a woman have the ability to respect a woman first...

Aww yes today the media has really hit a new low, they never have put the actress pantie, cleavage, bra in focus hence it's a "new low" before they did respect woman that's why such posts existed 🤪

omg if they have done,it's ok to continue to do it, that's the point that they shouldn't do it
and deepika spoke up ,despite the fact that she need TOI, film fare for her success.
and it may have been her pr, but at least there was a response for degrading intention on a picture.
why do you have to bring katrina into every topic?

i don't remember seeing the headline look at at katrina's butt anywhere?

Ah so many issues already come up in this thread.

What Times of India did is cheap and unbecoming of a credible news source. What is the world coming to when reputable newspapers need to resort to such cheap antics.

What Deepika did was right. Someone needs to stand up against yellow journalists. It is great to see so many people on social media supporting Deepika. I think people should continue to stand by her.

At the same time what Deepika did when Katrina had similar issues is wrong. It is hypocritical. That is how karma works. It comes back to sting you and show you how it feels. But that doesn't mean you should stop supporting Deepika. Irrespective of whether a woman is a bitch or a hypocrite or whatever, she deserves to be treated with respect. You don't make exceptions for women's rights. Stand by Deepika, Stand by Katrina, Stand by any celebrity who is violated by media.

A few posts mentioned the recent iCloud hack with JLaw pics. The reason it was a big deal was because it was a hack and multiple celebrities were impacted. The Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton sex tapes were leaks and one at a time. The hack was a bigger deal because the lay person had more reason to worry as it could be them. That caused more empathy. That being said neither Kim nor Paris deserve to have their privacy violated. People who hold to double standards are wrong too.

I find the entire brand of journalism that looks for nip-slips or twat shots to be cheap and disgusting. I don't have a problem with some objectification. I women want to pose for nudes in girlie magazines or be underwear models, I am fine with that. There are certain body image social issues of concern, I am OK with women in bikinis on billboards as long as they are equally compensated with Calvin Klein models in briefs. However, invasion of privacy is wrong. Intentionally, trying to catch a woman in a wardrobe malfunction or focusing on their crotch 24-7 to see if they have gone commando is a cheap practice that should not be encouraged. I know some celebrities intentionally do things, but one or two who want such publicity don't justify harassment of many who don't want it. Let us not forget that a lot of paparazzi photos are taken during private situations as well.

As for feminism. True feminism is a good thing. It stands for equal treatment of men and women. That is all. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Now I understand that sometimes women come across strong and aggressive. Sometimes women do get overzealous and display unfair treatment to men. But sometimes it is more that meets the eye. There are other factors we have to consider.
- After decades of patriarchy, sometimes a stronger push is needed to get things in the middle
- Women still struggle to be taken seriously, especially in places of authority, they still lag behind in wages - so they sometimes overcompensate by pushing too hard
- Finally we ourselves have been conditioned to have a patriarchal mindset from birth. Sometimes we subliminally judge women to harshly than we judge men

Another factor to consider is that it has become OK for women to work, but men doing household chores is still not widely accepted. Women who work pull double duty doing the work and running the household. We need another feminist push in society to make it acceptable for men to do household work so the household responsibilities are split more fairly.

The problem is right here. The pic by the male poster as expected but the response from a perfectly rationale member is quite unexpected! All consuming hatred. Woman bringing another woman down. DP did it, now everyone else are at it. But then what abt your own core values?!

It would have been enough to say it's a publicity stunt & move on but then this is a tit for tat world! Who am I kidding!

When Deepika had commented about 'being careful' in Ran-Kat incident, it was when they were photographed together for the very first time. Till then there were only speculations that these two were together.Katrina's open letter was for ' invasion of privacy' & the way in which their relationship was made public. Deepika was photographed first time with Ranveer in NYC when they were having lunch together. The photos were circulated, she didn't object to it.She had herself said that it's difficult to stop this & one can only be careful...Katrina's mismatched bikini became a joking point later same way as ppl here or outside the forum are joking about Deepika having exposed in movies or photo shoots before also.Deepika's objection was mainly her cleavage photos were zoomed & made the news by a leading daily. In Katrina's case the open letter by NDTV correspondent Thapa against her made the matter worse. He hinted that it was managed. Yes,in the forum fun was made of Katrina's mismatched bikini so now there are comments about- Deepika has a cleavage! No one is spared here.
About this being publicity stunt for her movie if ppl think this is true then I say it should have been done before the movie release. Don't think public will come out in hoardes to watch her movie FF after her outrage.
Deepika has raised the issue by defending herself it's good but I doubt that there is going to be a sea change immediately... but that doesn't mean one can't do that.

I agree with you that there won't be sea change with her standing up because in a way IF community is a par for the same society. You can see some people instead of understanding the main issue - the insult of woman - they are either calling it-
1) cat fight between Katrina and Deepika fans
2) PR stunt for her new movie
3) blaming her photoshoots and magazine cover.

I find it all the more surprising that females on IF are also not supporting the main issue but calling names. This is the same reason why people don't stand up to the injustice because they are scared that they will be blamed.

I think what Deepika said is commendable. It's ridiculous for a supposed top newspaper to publish such stuff. Deepika was the only A lister who actually spoke about Shweta's issue. I think she deserves a little credit here regardless of other stuff...and I'm no fan of hers.

What irks me is how suddenly the entire bollywood fraternity has awakened. 😆 I said this in another thread, I'll say it again here..it's very easy to stand behind a top actress of today. Where was everyone when Shweta Prasad was being degraded? That's when their support would've really made a differences..yet no one, apart from Deepika, said a word. They're all a bunch of two-faced losers.

Deepika did the right thing especially since someone from TOI replied to Deepika saying it was a compliment, I mean seriously? They could have just apologized for such a disgusting post but instead they tried to justify themselves which only infuriated Deepika further.

Best post on this thread.

Deepika did the right thing. That's it. She also did the right thing by supporting Shweta Prasad. But I don't understand Bollywood brigade's dramatic support here when none of them spoke against media maligning a young star's name and keeping her powerful clientele anonymous. Even the so called women empowerment spokeswomen of Bollywood didn't bother to comment on Shweta.
