JAL THE BAND...part 1 & 2

Jal -An Urdu word of Persian origin which simply means 'water.' behind the band's name affirms the intimate connection of water to the rhythms of our lives.
Jal was formed in Lahore Goher composed his first song by the name of "Aadat." Soon after, began his search for like minded musicians to complete his band. He ran into Shazi (Aamir) – a Bass guitarist and after a few jamming sessions he invited Shazi to join Jal ,and together they went about looking for a vocalist. Some time later Gohar heard Atif singing in a local College Music Competition, impressed by his vocal range he offered Atif to join the band and to do vocals for the song "Aadat." Jal's first single "Aadat" was released in Dec 2003. Before the release of it's video "Aadat" was released on the internet.
However, by the end of December 2003 due to musical differences, Atif parted ways with the band while Gohar once again searched for a Lead vocalist for Jal. It was then that Sultan Raja (Bassist of Call) introduced Farhan Saeed Butt to Gohar and thus Jal found a new voice.
By the time Jal came up with their new line-up "Aadat's" video was already doing rounds on the local music channels with the former singer Atif Aslam's vocals. The song was thus re-done for the official release in their debut album.

ALBUM AN SONGS
The album consists of Ten original tracks:

1. Rangoon Main
A song celebrating the different colors and shades of life. With strong vocals and a neat composition; it's a song everyone can relate to.

2. Lamhey
Dedicated to the beauty of memories, this subtly savvy track let's you step into your past and relive the moments you left behind.

3. Ik Din Ayega
This track is busting with a unique optimism that each one of us carries within our self. With a happening beat the music creates the perfect aura for a world which has not lost faith in hope and human spirit.

4. Panchi
The song urges you to listen to the 'inner-voice' letting go of all that binds us to the material world-giving you wings to break free.

5. Bikhra Hoon Main
An extended version of "Aadat" following the same composition; the song beautifully portrays human emotions of a struggling mind which refuses to give up and strives to start afreash.

6. Dil Harey
A romantic number that's Jal's trade mark, with a hip composition and soft/steady vocals the song portrays the essence of Jal's music.

7. Teri Yaad
Is a simple song sung to the memories of a loved one who is dearly missed.

8. Aadat
Simply named "habbit" which over time becomes a necessity. A habbit that is shared by all alike but due to it's very nature, by definition, it is something we are not consciously aware of, yet it remains an essential part of our lives whether we accept it or not.

9. Manchala
The song is based on the theme of a quest of searching and finding the essence and reason of our existence by experimenting and following the different paths that life offers us.

10. Har Jagah Hai Jal
The last song of the album celebrates the unity of the band, vowing to go a long way; reminding us yet again of it's timelessness and limitlessness like water and the many shapes it is capable of molding itself into.
