Anjali, the Mughals followed the Indian system for determining the birth time, which was also followed in Persia, and Europe as well - the calculations of the charts was different in the Indian and European (which was the greek system) - so even medieval India followed this system - and in fact the Mughals had calculated their birth charts as per the Indian system of astrology.
