In this drama series they showed Hindus and Sikhs are the evil force. Every time a Hindu or Sikh character comes on screen they start evil background music to make the characters more evil. The drama is based on romance during 1947 partition. No, its not Hindu-Muslim romance. The female character's name is Bano who is in love with her sister-in laws' nephew! Bano's brother is congress supporter and Bano's lover Hassan (Fawad Khan) is Muslim league supporter. Bano's brother is shown as antagonist, not evil but a rude man. His mind was brainwashed by his evil Hindu friends. He is a secular man who wants to tie his sister Bano with Ram, his 'Hindu' friend who is an evil man. Note: Ram is Hindu God.

Bano's brother with his evil Hindu friend 'Ram'

Bano says to his sister in law that she prays for Muslim league even though her entire family members are Congress supporters. She says she can give her 'Jaan' for Muslim League and for her 'Jaan' Hassan and dreams a pure land Pakistan where Muslims can live happily without Hindus.

"Main ek aise Pakistan ka khwab dekhti hoon jaha hume Hindu o ke sath nahi rehna padega. Unke rehmo karam par nehi jeena hoga. Amin."

All villains of this drama series are Hindus and Sikhs. This drama promotes communal hatred. I am really surprised how can a TV station air such bullshit drama where they showed hatred towards a particular religious community. Pakistan also has Hindus and Sikhs in its land. This drama surely hurt many minority groups' religious sentiment because of the evil characterization of their religious community people. (Hindus and Sikhs).

Pakistani media blames India for making anti-Pakistani films (esp. starring Sunny Deol, a Sikh actor) but in its media they are openly showing communal hatred towards a particular religious group.

Hmm India makes so many anti Pakistan movies so why react like this on one drama?
In a lot of Indian movies muslims are portrayed as terrorists...what about that?
As far as I know this is a story based on real events of partition, a lot of girls were raped, many people were killed at that time...this is just a story from our point of view
It is not meant for international audiences but for Pakistan Dastaan is a classic

I always ask my Indian friends to stay away from Dastaan, I know it has some scenes that are offensive to the Sikh community. However this drama is based on the point of view of a muslim family. I personally know some people who have been through such ordeals during the time of partition, that doesnt mean that all Hindu's and sikh's are bad. I have heard of stories in which the Hindu/sikh families helped their Muslim friends during partition.
If you watch the whole drama you will see how Muslims of Pakistan will be shown as bad and evil as welI. It will show how the Pakistan that Bano dreamt of is so different from reality. I feel the same way when I see anti muslim movies in which all muslim are terrorists, btw its not just the movies, just watch Fox news, its a reality...the bigotry and hate that todays muslim are facing is very evident.

I dont wish to argue or anything. But do you remember the Sikh man who helped Bano? He was a positive charaxter. Even one of the friend of Bano's brother saved Bano from getting raped, didnt he? Towards the end of the drama, the person who literally ruined Bano's life was a Muslim. Actually black sheeps are on both sides... and Dastaan was quite balanced.

Secondly, there are Many bollywood movies that portray Muslims and Pakistanis to be evil. So if one Pakistani drama is such, there is no issue. And this drama is based on a novel and the author is from Indo-Pak times who witnessed this partition. So many of the things are inspired from real life incidents. Yeah, i agree with you that most of the evil characters were Hindu and Sikh but i dont really mind when i see Bollywood movies that are a bit agaist muslims and pakistanis. We all know that because of this partition millions of Hindus and Muslims suffered.

Edit: do you think if india would make a drama or movie on partition, they would show muslims to be nice and kind people?

I forgot to mention that in my post, glad you brought it up.

Koi nhe. Ye koi anti sikh drama nhe tha. Lagta hai ap ne sirf woh scenes hi dekhe hain jin me thoda kuch aisa dikhaya hoga. Aur waise bhi bollywood me anti paki movies. Woh kyun? Aur yeh story partition ke time ki hai aur hum ne parha bhi hai ke us waqt muslims kitna suffer kar rahe the.

India is a secular state not Pakistan and as far as i think Dastaan was purely based on real events from Razia Butts novel. and the world knows about these events.
Secondly i would never go for anything which revolves on a topic which s anti-Muslim or anti-Pakistani.. why did you when you knew what the content of the drama was? Just to criticize? WOW!

I think every show /book is a writers account from the way they see things and therefore it shud be looked at in that fashion rather than labelling it in a generic way .Each individual has the freedom to perceive and present things the way they want to and that cannot and will not please all.

i think daastaan was not made for international audiences..
and india has also made manyy movies that show muslims as terrorists but its not that all muslims are terrorists..
similarly if they showed some sikhs and hindus evil people that doesnt mean all were evil.. do u remember the guy that helped bano from getting raped?
and wen banos mom was trying to kill her he saved her..
so he was a positive character..
and i always tell my friends on IF that if u r not comfortable watching such content dont watch daastaan.. but if u dont mind then watch it.. its story and execution was amazing..
and the woman who wrote daastaan had witnessed the partition so it was inspired from the events of real life.. manyy girls were raped and kidnapped and stuff..
and the last thing if india makes a movie or drama on seperation do u think that they will show muslims as positive people?
its just that during seperation everyone suffered.. and this was a drama from the pov of a muslim..
and later in the drama if u watch the whole of it it shows that how pakistanis were evil too.. !
