I know that majority(not all) who are Sikh punjabi don't practice it just like they don't use sindoor or wear a chain( mangle Sudra) though some Sikh women do partake but I don't think it's part the religion and more a Hindu tradition as per what been told!!

The Bollywood Punjabi does get finessed and has Hindi undertones, which is fine but they sometimes they screw up the words and their meanings.

I'm not even a big fan of Samjhawan, it's a lovely song but not pure Punjabi as some people claim it to be. 😆

Another Bollywood Punjabi song that annoys the shit our of me is the Lohri song from Veer-Zaara. I like my pure Punjabi songs too much to listen to the Bollywoodized Punjabi songs.

THIS. The two of you nailed it. I'm Punjabi myself. No one even plays the half hindi - half punjabi BW songs in our functions 🤣 They are pretty much non existent for us when it comes to ceremonies 😆 Only pure Punjabi songs are played 😆

South Indians have language barrier, they make movie to cater to their audience, they are not into acting is a wide hyperbole. The language diff is why pan India do not watch south movies much.

how can you say they are not into acting and dancing? Every single south Indian boy goes to classical music school once in life and every single girl to classical dance and sometimes both.

They are more into learning classical stuff and less about fushion , though even that is changing.

i have nothing against punjabis or any community (and every1 should also have nothing against any community, its just basic humanity, and respect for all cultures),

having said that, purely with the intent on topic, if we take a look at the history of actors, a majority of hindi cinema,s top most superstars n acheivers r not punjabis... just take a look at the history till date .

dilip kumar (yousaf khan) ... patthan

madhubala (real name mumtaz) ... was a muslim and pure patthan, her father was attaullah khan a pure patthan background and so was her mother.

meena kumari (real name mah jabeen) ... from a pure urdu speaking muslim family, total non punjabi

madhuri dixit ... marathi

sridevi ... from south

rekha ... from south

jaya prada ... from south

hema malini ... from south

jaya bhaduri ... bengal

sharmila tagore ... bengal

sadhna ... sindhi

naseer uddin shah ... non punjabi

salman khan ... patthan

aamir khan ... patthan

shahrukh khan ... patthan

saif ali khan ... patthan n bengali origin

aishwarya rai ... non punjabi

kajol ... bengal

sushmita sen ... bengal

rani mukkherji ... bengal

bipasha basu ... bengal

mithun ... bengal

not just the actors, but the biggest directors of history are non punjabi. both k asif, and mehboob khan were patthan who gave us the masterpieces of hindi cinema mughaleazam and mother india respectively.

I agree Punjabi actors don't really dominate Bollywood but please try to show a fair picture. There are a lot of actors who are Punjabis and are superstars.

a) Rajesh Khanna - the first proclaimed superstar was a Punjabi

b) Raj Kapoor - the showman

c) Dharamendra- a superstar of 60s and 70s

d) Rishi Kapoor - ruled 80s

e) Vinod Khanna - had a successful short stint in 80s and then character roles now

f) Sunny Deol - successful in 80s and 90s

g) Govinda - comedy king in 90s and early 2000s

h) Akshay Kumar - still successful

i) Ajay Devgan - still fairly successful

j) Hrithik Roshan - a superstar of 2000s and now

i) Ranbir Kapoor - superstar since debut movie

The newbies -- Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra, Ayushman Khurana

There are not many punjabi actresses but there is - Juhi Chawla, Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Kareena-Karisma, Rati Agnihotri, Poonam Dhillon etc

its not at all a question about fair or nonfair picture my friend.

on topic, i stated that alot of top superstars in the history were non punjabis, so i gave that list. its not that i was hiding the punjabis, names, i just stated my point of view about non punjabis , hence the list.

Which Manmohan are you talking of? PM Manmohan Singh? Regardless of controversies particularly in second term as PM, he is a man of great learning and is a great economist. He is responsible for liberalisation, opening Indian economy and leading India on path of growth. Look at his entire life first before laughing like this.
