Why does Punjabi culture dominate in Bollywood? - Page 18

TM has questioned it. Not made a celebratory thread on it. In her OP she has also mentioned Bengal. So debate came up about different cultures and how true it is that other cultures are less represented.

1. I think few have regionalism chauvinism here in this forum rather than those great actors like Raj Kapoor , Dilip kumar or anyone whose name they try to drag to relate in what so ever ,thats why those stars were all india acceptability among people. ,Thats why makers like chopras etc. exploit them after 90s if we observe in rom-com movies .

2. Its is purely a money making business , so a movie maker always look at its target audience so sometime the theme based on the basis of target market they want . Like , out of 100 movie may be few based on any theme and any culture so punjabi is not exception.

To start not all punjabis are light skin( though yes those in north in general lighter but to say lighter then every indian? even in the movies!! Example Priyanka chopra, we have south actreeses like aish who are light..etc..

Yes there many punjabis in bollywood but we also have Khans / muslims , bengalis, etc..

Thats like saying majority talented singers are only bengali as they are ones who have won mainly in reality singing shows!!

Thank you Jess for saying this.. I got Punjabi friends who are normal looking people, not fair or not dark. Iam a South Indian and Iam not dark..But after coming to this forum I got confused because of some elite people and their comments(Please read I said some, not all people.). I have interacted with Jess and she is very sweet..And Iam really glad that my real life Punjabi friends are so sweet and down to earth too..Its always good to feel proud of where we come from and what our culture is. But its wrong to feel that all other regions are inferior to us because of superficial features like skin colour,height etc. What good is your fair skin if you have an ugly mind!😆

Gujrati culture has taken place in television whereas punjabi's in bollywood!

actually i was offended by same comment on which other offended , even other punjaabies to objected on same comment, i dont have any intention to ruin dis thred,evry cummunity has dos energy , talent which u need in any job or buisness or field ,so i dont think any cmmunity is better den others, de all have ppl who r ruiling diffrent fields
