Some random Sunday musings (you may wonder I have nothing better to do đ)
I know many of you are in la la land with the new promo; this was a post I had drafted in response to when Jalal said "I am not a good husband" to Hamida Bano. After Jodha returned and both Jalal and Jodha admitted their mistakes, I felt it was a clean slate and they were ready to move forward and so was the forum- so chose not to post it.
But just 5 minutes on Friday, Jalal left the jashn (with a nod to Jodha, unless I am imagining things), expresses happiness at becoming a father and fulfilling his promise to a childhood friend, and that's it - he is no longer a good husband?
I will be the first to admit Jodha has been a good support and wife to him ... Whether it was ...
- When she feels Jalal's pain and touches his shoulder to support him when he is sad about Bakshi Bano's betrayal after the fake pregnancy track ...
- When she forgets all else and drinks poison to save his life in the Ben track ...
- When she tends and cares for him with the little things as Kajri
And I will also admit, Jalal has his share of faults: He has a short temper and he has misunderstood Jodha ... That being said, his intentions are not to hurt Jodha like Ruqs and Maham Anga and circumstances played a heavy role ... That beings said, he never hid behind or justified his actions based on circumstances. He always apologized and faced his mistakes.
That also does not mean Jalal has done nothing for Jodha. Hence, this post is dedicated to that.
It is drafted in response to Jalal's statement to Hamida Bano: "I am not a good husband" hence, the writing style.
"Jalal, you are not a good husband."
When you know you accused Jodha incorrectly in public, you apologized to her in front of the same public. But, you are not a good husband.
When your wife said that she would rather die than be your wife, you gave her the opportunity to leave the relationship. But, you are not a good husband.
After knowing Jodha was in pain after her suicide attempt and you were a cause of it, you took every taunt and complaint with a smile. But, you are not a good husband.
On the way to Ajmer, you are always vigilant for her safety ... Saving her from an assassin and a snake ... I still remember the look of fear in your eyes when she was missing from her bed. But, you are not a good husband.
At Ajmer, you made a duaa that Jodha's wish comes true. But, you are not a good husband.
You knew Jodha's unintentional mistake of taking out the bullets almost cost you your life and the happiness of your family ... But you did not criticize her individually or in public. But, you are not a good husband.
You arranged Jodha's sister marriage and gave up your prized childhood memory and fort to ensure her marriage. But, you are not a good husband.
You were touched by Jodha's pain that she could not fulfill her promise to Kali Maa ... So you touched your head at the feet of Kali Maa. But, you are not a good husband.
You had every reason to touch Jodha to save her from her frozen state on the way back from Amer ... But you gave greater weight to her sentiments. But, you are not a good husband.
You were willing to give up your throne to keep your promise to Jodha to practice her religion. But, you are not a good husband.
You took the insults and slap of Hamida Bano to save Jodha from insult during the fake pregnancy track. But, you are not a good husband.
You faced your entire awaam on your childless state so Jodha could not be defamed. But, you are not a good husband.
When you realized the plight of women in child marriages, you understood Jodha's pain from their wedding's circumstances. But, you are not a good husband.
On Jodha's one word, you tested Ben to be a Vishkanya ... Ben passing the test made both you and Jodha look silly in the DEK ... But, you are not a good husband.
Even at the height of the aftermath of the Dhakka, you made sure Jodha was not evicted from her room and her Kanha was not displaced. But, you are not a good husband.
You prayed with your entire heart and appealed to the awaam to save her life when Jodha's life was in danger. But, you are not a good husband.
You recognized Jodha's efforts and your mistake in the Ben track in front of the entire DEK ...But, you are not a good husband.
As Badal, you noticed that Jodha's feet were swollen and tended to them ... Seeing her cold and worried for health you started to start a fire. But, you are not a good husband.
You encouraged Jodha to step up to her potential and become the harem warden. You were disappointed when she left it. But, you are not a good husband.
You defended Jodha in public and yelled at Ruqaiyya in public during the murthi kaand. But, you are not a good husband.
You could not sleep, rest, or eat in peace when Jodha was lost. But, you are not a good husband.
You knew Jodha was at fault to for hiding the truth from you, but you took full responsibility and asked for complete forgiveness from the misunderstanding with Sujamal. You did not hide behind Maham Anga or Ruqaiyya's chaal. But, you are not a good husband.
You always take Jodha's advice whether for child marriage, slavery, or the pilgrimage tax. But, you are not a good husband.
You have embraced Jodha's beliefs and values ... Whether praying to the tulsi plant, or lighting a diya, or taking prasad. But, you are not a good husband.
Jalal, just like your saying you did not have a heart did not mean it was true ... Your saying you are not a good husband does not make it true. You are not a perfect husband ... But definitely a person who wants to work towards it.
In Conclusion
As the promos suggest that Jodha will fully accept Jalal as her husband this week ... That means she fully loves, trusts, and accepts Jalal as he is. I will agree the timing seems odd but this also means:
- That Jodha appreciates the good in Jalal, and accepts him with his faults
- That Jodha accepts him with his relationship with Ruqs, which reflects the times in which this show is set
- That Ruqs failed in her plan to separate Jodha from Jalal
Let us see how it plays out ... But felt like sharing this post in the meantime.
