Prem, thanks.  Glad that you are not going to grill me.  It is tough answering these questions.  Well, I was quite a wise 12 year old during CB days.  Or you could say I am perpetual young.

Yeah, just saw Munni's birthday thread.  You too are a Taurean.  Besides all these personalities, Hitler too was a Taurean.  So really don't want to boast about being a Taurean.

Misti,  I thought I would escape your questions.  Some of them are tricky.  But as I promised, I will tell the truth and nothing but the truth.  So need to answer them when I am totally relaxed at home so that I do not trip.

Misti,  thanks.  Unfortunately, they have learnt counting too well.  My little nephew is also analytical and does not worship me blindly.  So last week I was telling him something great I had done as a 15 year old (my version of made up inspiration stories to make them more hardworking).  So he questioned that where was he when I was doing all these great feats.  I told him that he was a star (I have told them that they were stars before they were born).  So he asked me how was that possible because he was 3 when I was 15.  I was stumped and so I told him that actually I was ten when I did the great work.  So then his question was that his brother must have been two.  So I had to tell him that I made a mistake and actually I was 7 when I did that great work.  So now, my stories have changed to doing everything before the age of 8.

Thanks for mentioning my name and the feeling is mutual.  Misti, thanks.

Here are some questions for you.

Misti, you know me.  I cannot answer in one word.  So there might be multiple answers and they would be long.  So read with caution.

1. Where would your dream holiday be?

Ok.  this has changed over the years.  My dream career during the high school was to become an archaeologist.  And Bronze Age Civilization was my area of interest. I used to dream that I have deciphered the language of Indus valley civilization (only one where the script has not been deciphered yet), and I have become world famous .  So my dream holiday was going to these places of ancient civilizations especially Indus Valley (now in Pakistan), Mesopotamia (Iraq) and Egyptian, and just spending hours there looking at artifacts.

Now it has changed though I still would like to visit these places once in my lifetime.  My not so lofty dreams now include more accessible places such as Bali (Indonesia), Phuket (Thailand) and Hawaii.  I have gone to two islands of Hawaii and just loved it there.  So would like to make it an annual holiday.

2. What sound do you love? Sound of pouring rain.  The rainy season in my hometown was the time when I used to have vacations and so associate this heavy rain with lazing around drinking tea and eating pakoras.

3. If you were a dinosaur, what kind of dinosaur would you be? Herbivorous (or plant eating) dinosaur.  This is because I was so spooked up after watching Jurassic Park and I only liked the vegetarian dinosaurs in the end who were sweet.

4. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose? Captain Hook from Peter Pan as he is so entertaining, evil and had that cool hand.

5. Who is your favourite author? Fav book? This one is tough.  It is many for different works.   It is based on the language.  So here it goes.  Overall, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.  The reason is  he wrote in Bengali and I read him in Hindi and that too after two centuries.  But still his work has not become stale and is so readable.  Usually the flavor gets lost in translation.  Yet I still liked his books even in translation.  And his female characters were so strong even in those dark ages when  the women had no rights.  And my favorite book is Kapalkundla - a free spirit who decided how she wanted to live or die even during those times.

Now in other languages that I understand:  British English - Shakespeare/Macbeth,   American English - Ernest Hemingway/The Old Man and the Sea.

In Hindi, it is Premchand for the simplicity of language and some profound stories that tells of ills of his era.

In Sanskrit, it is Kalidas though I have only read some of it in the original language and have read the translation.  .  Meghdut - just the poetry and romance.

6. Who is your favourite director? Fav movie?

Language Wise:

Hindi

Director(s) - Bimal Roy (great movies), Hrishikesh Mukherjee (middle class relatable movies).

And all time favorite movie is Sholay - it had everything - entertaining, commercial, talented cast, great direction, powerful script, action, comedy, romance, emotions, evil psycho villain

English

Francis Ford Coppola - Godfather I and II.  For almost all the reasons listed for Sholay

7. Despite you being only 16 years old...do you dig QSQT or Fauji? Did you have a crush on "I say chaps"?

Misti, do not try to trick me.😑  Ok...here is my honest answer.  When I watched these movies before the age of 8 (remember this),  I did dig them.  I have very fond memories of both.  QSQT movie was the first movie where my mother allowed me to show to my friends as my  birthday treat.  Some of them had already seen the movie, but I had not.  They had huge crush on Aaamir and wanted to see the movie again.  Their parents were not giving them extra money to watch it again.  So they persuaded me to give up the birthday party at home, and instead take them out for fast food and a movie.  I liked everything about it except for the sad ending.

I have very fond memories of Fauji too.  See the female lead in that show was from my home town.  Since we had very few from my home town in the celebrity world (Kapil Dev, Poonam Dhillon and now Gul Panag and Kiron Kher),  everyone used to get excited about anybody making it big.  So I and my friends started watching it with a lot of enthusiasm.  I think the girl had initially a big role and SRK's role was not that big.  But we did not like the girl at all and could not understand how she was chosen.  But we just loved SRK as Fauji.  He was very young and looked dashing at that time.  Then I think he became very popular and his role became prominent in the show.

As far as the crush is concerned,  my crushes have always been very weird.  My friends had huge crushes on either Aaamir or SRK.  Now Aamir was not my type of crush as he was too chocolate type and cute type (softy ones) for my taste.  I would have developed a crush on SRK but at that time (when Fauji was being telecasted),  I had a huge crush on one of my teacher who used to be very smart, good looking and used to play sitar.  So brains with creativity was a big attraction for me.  By the time my crush was over,  SRK got another serial where he had to play an uneducated country bumpkin.  He was shown so naive and not very smart in that role that my friends and I used to make fun of him and that image of a joker stuck with me.  All that sophisticated image of the army guy fled and so I never ever developed a crush on him after that.

8. If you were a super hero or super villain, what powers would you have?  I want to be a super villain and would like powers of invisibility, flying and throwing fire balls and have a brain of a super duper scientist.

9. If you could breed two totally different animals together, what new animal would you create? Misti, you and animals.  You know that I am not very fond of animals.  Ok if I have to do that,  I would like to create a mix of elephant and a wolf.  So it would be a superfast wolf with a trunk and he would be a vegetarian so that he does not eat me when I keep him as a pet.  He would only eat bananas and leaves. But he would be able to swim, give me rides on his back and then run very fast.

10. What other languages can you speak? Besides English, fluent in Hindi and Panjabi.

Have studied Spanish for almost three years, Sanskrit for 5 years and French for one year, but not fluent in any.

Used to be able to converse in simple Spanish (now I can barely talk) with native speakers of Spanish,  used to be able to write essays and read some literature in Sanskrit (now I can barely do as I have forgotten a lot), and only remember few phrases from French.  Among these three, I am still better in Spanish as I find it the most simplest of three.  Every year I resolve to get back into it so that I can once again converse with people.  I have great accent in Spanish, but have forgotten a lot of it.  Now my nephew is learning it and so since he thinks that I am fluent in the language,  I have to revisit it sooner than later.

11. Do you love or hate rollercoasters?   Hate them.  Get motion sickness and I usually throw up after the ride.  And plus I am too much of a wimp as people scream with excitement and I scream with fear when they come down.  Going up is fine but coming down is the scary part for me.

12. What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? I am vegetarian except that I eat seafood and eggs.  But I draw a line at eating clams and mussels.  I have eaten them once but I find them too slimy and weird.

13. Do you collect anything? Well sort of but not for me.  My father and brother do.  My brother collects coins and stamps, sports memorabilia and my father does a lot of things for the new generation - a lot of cuttings from newspapers on various subjects and he is making various scrap books for my nephews.  So sometimes I get things for my brother's collection.

14. What would be in your dream sandwich?Ok, now don't make fun of me.  But I like very simple sandwiches with just onions and ketchup and aloo stuff (in various forms).  Like Agnihotri family, aloo is one of my favorite vegetable.  Though I do not eat it every day, but I do eat them at least once in three days.  I must have been portuguese in my previous birth.

15. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? I would like to meet Chanakya because of his great brains.

16. What is your favorite cartoon? If it is about an animal can you be sure that you can correctly recognize the animal? Mickey mouse.  I can recognize mickey mouse, but cannot say the same about the real mouse.  I used to run away screaming from roaches and ratswhen I was a kid.

17. What's the coolest thing you've ever been for Halloween? Nothing special.  I have only gone once to an halloween as a high school kid and I had just come to this country for the first time.  It was in deep south (Oklahoma) where I was one of the four foreign kids in the school.  So I was an object of curiosity.  So I decided to wear an Indian dress as a costume because that way I did not have spend any money on the costume.  And it was a costume for them.

Now I celebrate halloween vicariously through my nephews and other kids in the neighborhood.  They dress up in costumes from batman, superman, Ninjas and what not.

18. What's the best gift you've ever received? This was three years ago.  My oldest nephew who was 5 at the time was asked to make a box (of cardboard) during the mother's day week by their kindergarten teacher.  He made it and then gave it to me over the weekend.  Then my brother told me that their class was asked to give it to the person whom they loved the most.  So he declined it to give it to anybody else and saved it for me.  He is a very introvert child who does not easily show his emotions.  He never says thanks or sorry or ILU.  So his way of saying thanks is to hug you if he is extremely thankful.  So getting that gift even though there were no words given by him was the best gift I have ever received.

19. What ice-cream flavours do you love/hate? Love chocolate (most kinds) and banana flavored icecream.  Hate plain vanilla and mint ones.

20. What's your fondest childhood memory? Running away from school by climbing the windows of the class in the middle of a teaching session or walking out after making an excuse (I used to hide my bag outside the class before the class would start), writing a fake note for the gatekeeper from the teacher so that he would allow me to take my bike and then going home and telling my mother that I have run off because she was very liberal in such things.  Of course I paid for it couple of times the next day though thankfully the matter did not reach the principle who used to dislike me intensely ( I used to be best friends with her daughter at one time and then we became enemies).  She would have summoned my parents and then I would have got a big scolding and a big lecture from my father.  Actually, in my 10th grade I was forced to take home science ( a must for girls) and I hated the subject.  Since it used to be the last hour, I used to escape the class most of the time because I never did my homework.

21. Would you rather be poor and happy, or rich and miserable?Ok this answer has changed over years.  Of course it would have been an easy one if you had also given me a choice of rich and happy too.  So in my idealistic days (socialist/communist),  I wanted to be poor and happy.  Then during my dreamy days (capitalist),  I wanted to be rich even if I was going to be miserable.  Those days my theory was that everyone is miserable in their life one time or other.  So why not be rich at least to compensate for it.  Now in my more wise days (moderate capitalist with some socialist tendencies),  my preference is for finding happiness.  So if poor is the only way to be happy, then I would prefer to be poor and happy.  Though I really do not want to be poor anymore.  It is not much fun if you are poor.

22. Will you like to have a baby elephant as a pet? Oh yes.  I always wanted to have one.  I used to beg for baby elephant and baby tiger as a pet when I was young.  My friends always wanted to have dogs and I wanted baby elephant instead.  They are just too cute and cuddly.

23. Do you think that you can persuade mausi to write something and not to just click "like"? Ok this one seems to be impossible task at the moment.  How many months has it been since EBP started and Mausi has not been tempted to write even one tiny miny post.  Even for my MOTW thread, I only see "like" from her.  Maybe we need shirtless Shlok to tempt her.  Has he been shirtless in this show even once.  Ok, now who dares to tweet to Waseem to show a shirtless and maybe a little bit more less Shlok.   But if he does show him shirtless,  I am going to start liking Shlokie again and forget his romeo behavior especially if  Mausi starts writing as a result.

Jia, thanks and I feel the same way about you.  I also like reading yours and views of some new forum members with whom I never interacted before.

Can I also ask you some questions? hope you don't mind... Of course not.  Misti already asked quite difficult ones.  So now my mind is working enough to answer more questions.

Misti asked couple of them that I wanted to ask.
1. Which is your favorite most character in the series and why? (I guess I know the answer after reading your analysis ..but just asking)
Shlokie - I like his complex character - dark, yet loyal, vindictive but capable of feeling remorse, loyal, witty, sarcastic and shrewd, and highly emotional.  I like people with emotions.
Anjali - same way.  Not able to understand her character, but like her proud, snobbish style.  She is also very deep and has all those simmering emotions that are waiting to burst out.  She is like a suppressed volcano that would ignite one day.

2. Kill, Marry or hook up with ..choose from characters of the show?
Marry - Sid (he is the ideal one and my type of guy who would tolerate my tantrums and ego).
Short-term affair (hook up) - Varad as my short-term attractions are always towards nerdy, geeky intellectual ones.
Kill - Nobody really.  I would like Abhay to be in jail for the rest of his life as killing is too painless for him.  Niranjan does not need to be in jail, but would like him to be kicked out by Anjali and Shlok with Anjali ruling over both the house and his empire.
Friend - You did not ask this one.  But I would want Shlokie as my best friend because he is the type of guy that I can only tolerate as a friend.  He would be fun as a friend.
3. Who is the most irritating character of the show and why? (plz dont choose Aastha πŸ˜†...I know I know...) Ok no Astha though she only used to irritate me in the beginning and now from last two weeks.  So it has to be Jaya - because she is so boring one-dimensional schemer and always is shown doing the same thing.  She is a useless mother who does not care for her only daughter and only is using her and her insecurities/fear for her own advantage.
4. If you could change the year of your birth, to any date in history what would it be?  What would be better and also worse about that time?  (oh..you gave a clever answer to your date of birth and I see that πŸ˜‰)
Jia,  I have vowed to answer every question.  So I will answer this one.  Plus it does not contradict anything I have said in my initial reply.  If I were to be choose my year of birth,  I would like to be born in  mid to late 1950s.  That way,  I would be a teenager or in early twenties in 70s. I think that was the most fun era as the whole world was changing.  There were war protests, hippy moments, those bellbottoms and cool clothes and cool new age music.  You could fit in a lot of places even if you were an outcast.  I like causes and 70s had people with passionate causes.  So I would have liked to join war protests, smoke marijuana and do a lot of things that respectable people never did in latter eras.

Misti,  I answered all your questions while I was completely sober.  I just had occasional drink of water.  One needs to be in their full senses while answering your questions.  You wanted to trick me in answering some.
