A perfect 10
Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is constantly pushing boundaries and trying her hand at something new
I can't pinpoint any one particular event as the turning point in my life. However, I am happy with some of the decisions I've made " both on the personal and professional fronts and perhaps they have worked as turning points. I'm pretty much enjoying my success and working towards things I haven't done yet, be it films or personal pursuits.
As a career-driven person, I have always had the desire and the thirst to do something extra, something challenging, something that no one would ever expect me to do. I've always pushed my boundaries to take on new roles, which drive me beyond my comfort zone and make me put in my best efforts. This clearly reflects in my body of work " my roles in films including Chameli, Jab We Met and Omkara. They were very challenging and pushed me to do something completely different.
I did my initial schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and completed it from Welham Girls' School in Dehradun. From the beginning, I knew I would end up as an actor but I went ahead and studied since education is an important aspect of life.
After graduating from boarding school in Dehradun, I studied commerce for two years at Mithibai College, Mumbai, and followed it up with a three-month summer course in microcomputers at Harvard University in the US. Subsequently, I also enrolled in Mumbai's Government Law College but couldn't pursue the course for more than a year as I entered the film world.
I belong to the Kapoor khaandaan and acting runs in my blood. For me, acting was the ultimate destination. I was exposed to films from a young age and this triggered my interest in acting. I was particularly inspired by the work of the great actresses, Nargis and Meena Kumari. I knew it even while I was pursuing my studies that one day, I would be a part of Bollywood. I am happy and satisfied with my decision.
My next film is Singham 2 and it's been great fun to work with Rohit Shetty. Also, I just shot an exciting campaign for Limca. This is my third year of association with Limca and while I've thoroughly enjoyed working on the previous two ads, the promotion this year is a tad more special. This is because as an individual, I've always strived for that little extra, to quench my thirst for excellence and perfection and it showcases that aspect beautifully. I am playing a small town girl in the commercial and I'm eager to see how consumers respond to my look.
I want to focus on my career and do roles that I haven't portrayed before. Just like the soft drink urges us to quench 'Limca waali pyaas', I want to satiate my 'actor waali pyaas'. Having said that, this year is also about spending more time with my husband and doing things I haven't done yet. I want to do as much as I can this year.
