Thanks Vaarali as I said I read Bhagvatam sometime back and so didn't remember the details . Thanks for highlighting the details

Varali if we look at it it may not be a contradiction . Bhagvatam gives Parikshit's side of the event while MB is just briefly touching upon it

I would like to go with the bhagvatam here because it makes more sense

It is not my description, Nandini. I have only borrowed it from a commentary by the great Madhva Acharya. That's why it is so beautiful.

just wanted to know if there was any mention of Uttara feeling and describing the protective force inside her womb as well ... considering it was in her for 3 months or so!

There are more than one Kripa in epic. Kripa the kulguru dies sometime in Vanaparva , this news reached Yudhi in exile.

The warrior Kripa must be belonging to the same Gautama family as the kulguru that's why he is Kripa ; it was probably their last name

Same goes to Akritavarna the disciple of Parashurama and guru of Karna from whom Radheya Karna learns brahma weapon and also political science

One thing interesting - Ghatotkacha's dynasty is recognized as a Pandava kul? I thought that even though Ghatotkacha was a Pandava, technically, he & his family were outside the Pandava i.e. Hastinapur/Indraprastha dynasty. So there were 2 Pandava kuls then - one of Janamejaya and one of Vairochana?

And they must have migrated quite a bit - going from Himachal to Anga. Or was Anga a prized trophy that kingdoms from the Himachal/UP/Uttarakhand region had to possess? 😆

Actually there were at least 5 Anga Kingdoms of which one is ruled by Karna and later he gets Champa and Malini cities after having impressed Jarasandha ( Jarasandha and Karna are related ; the former is Adiratha's cousin)

Pandu subdues some ancestor of Adiratha and takes control of Anga kingdom in his Digvijaya, since Pandu is way too powerful than Jarasandha so he couldn't help his cousin. That's why Anga becomes a property of Hastinapur which anyway is returned to Karna by Dury. Post war when Vairochana wins Anga Pandavas help their grandson establish it .

Ghatu is quite famous is Himachal and Nepal as well.

The 'vayupautra' hawai jahaz is always at the service of his fathers and mother 😆 so ghatu has quite a number of adventures in Himalaya also

After war it was 'Pandava-pautra' kingdoms galore literally everywhere!

There are 'Samvagri' coins available in the medieval period. Samvagri means 'United warriors" they represent Yaudheyas, Malavas and Arjuneyas combined and they ruled together ...Yaudheyas after Yudhi; Malavas & Arjuneyas after Bhima and Arjuna respectively.

The grandsons or even descendents of all five brothers always called themselves as Pandava vanshis only and not after only one grandfather unless specifically asked.

Udayana the King of Vatsa is very proud of the unity that his great grandfathers had he is found discussing with Buddha, only when Buddha asks which Pandava, Udayana says he is descendent of Arjuna. So Pandu putras owe their success to their mother Kunti and their dear wifey Krishnaa😊

There are agnija Bharatas also who call themselves after their founding mother draupadi and since they belong to bharatvansh also. They are the ones who back Janmejaya in his sarpa satra along with Vajrakhira and Kakshsena who is grandson of Bhima and Drau

In south there are Vahnikula Kshatriya calling themselves sons of Drau

So in Sauptika, Draupadi Krishnaa doesn't lose all her kin as it is mentioned.

Sauptika itself is very self contradictory and on reading appears like a B grade Bollywood movie with sloppy editing and screenplay🤢

Whats more , in Kaushitaki Brahmana Shikhandi 'yajnasena' who defeated Gangeya is a priest to his nephew ( son of Draupadi is meant)

The 'Brahmanas' were written sometime after the bharata war .

The Kul guru Kripa is definitely the BIL of Drona .

I don't know much about warrior Kripa relation to kulguru but they shared the same family name ; Gautama family is a big one just like the other families in the epic.

Kauravas themselves were 100 of them so imagine how many grandsons Dhrit must be having 😉
