A post mortem of sorts happening for the results! I don't understand how just before announcing the results Bhavana/Priyanka said they got over 1.5 crore votes, but a week later say only 75 lakh votes are valid. On what basis did they determine 'kalla votes' when they had all these rules and regulations for number of online votes per IP address, etc? And why did it take them a week to reveal these numbers? Sorry, I don't for a second believe that Anushya wasn't even a factor for the online and SMS votes. It has been proven time and time again that the wildcard contestants do extremely well in the final voting results. Possibly due to the popularity gained from performing over a course of 2-3 weeks. The actual performance on the final day has very little bearing on the voting results. Plus Anushya got extremely great comments from the judges in the wild card round. I'm sure she was placed last in the judges scores (Mano and Chitra don't seem to like her much), but I definitely won't accept that she lost on voting. She was the only Tamil contestant there and it must have had some bearing to the public. And Jessica got
only 25 lakh votes by the public? Again, I won't believe this at all.
Really disappointed by this season! There seems to have been an agenda at play. Please the international audiences by letting Jessica into the competition and giving her an award (I have nothing against her, she seems to be a well grounded girl), but make sure she doesn't win so they don't have to deal with the technicalities of awarding a non-citizen a house. At the same time promote the judges favourites (Bharath, Sreesha, and Hari Priya). The 50:50 points divide for the results was not explicitly stated by the show. Only the viewers who follow the show online knew that the public voting accounts for half of the points. The rounds for the final performance were strange as well. Was the second round meant to be 'AR Rahman round'? If so the round wasn't really Anushya's forte, while it would have helped the other contestants. Some of them even repeated their previous songs, which I thought wasn't allowed in the finals. I recall a member of Roshan's camp (from SSJ2) once complaining that both Roshan and Nithyashree were prohibited from choosing a particular song they wanted to sing for the finals by Anand Vaidhyanathan. Instead they were 'encouraged' to sing something else, likely causing their last place results. Since then I've been quite pessimistic about Super Singer results, but it seems like they still haven't changed at all.
It's sad to see how much stress the parents and children undergo for this competition. I feel for all the contestants who are pawns in the judge's/network's agenda, even the ones who benefit from it. And even though we complain about the results, we will be back again for it next season. Such is the reach of this show, unfortunately.
