Yudhisthir was known as a royal sage. He was always for peace, forgiveness and harmony. One would even think if he was a Kshatriya by action and if he always shied from war. But when the actual time of war came he did not go emotional and sentimental about relations as one would have thought, instead it was Arjun who showed that weakness.
Yudhisthir always went by righteousness or dharma that is why he did not waiver at Kurukshetra and Shri Krishna did not need to teach him Geeta since he knew that that war he was going to fight was for Dharma. Whereas Arjuna was an emotional being and when the time of war came he went cold feet.A kshatriya is not known by how excellent he is as warrior but how excellent he is in carrying out his kshaatra dharma and how he discerns the righteousness from unrighteousness while performing his duties.
