He paused and flipped a few pages, "Waise, ismein Rawte ke baare mein kuch nahi hai, kyun?"

Shree scratched the back of his head and stood up gently, "Woh actually, Sir. I couldn't think of anything."
Arjun cocked his head and narrowed his eyes on the visibly hassled duo, "Couldn't think of anything? Matlab?"
Lisa shot a pitiful look at Shree and turned to Arjun, "Sir, actually hum soch rahe the ki aap."
She blinked her eyes and quickly sent up a prayer, "Sir, since we believe that the drug mafia also involves high-profile people, it is but obvious that they would be attending a lot of parties and other social functions. Toh humne socha ki aap.."
Everyone held their breath and waited for Lisa to finish but that never happened. She kicked Shree on his shin under the table and cursed him mentally for coming up with an atrocious idea.
Shree glared at her and whispered something inaudible.
Arjun was slowly getting ticked off and put his pen down on the table with a slamming sound making the trio jump in their seats.
Mustering all courage he had, Shree spoke aloud, "A bartender.."
Rathore was the first one to laugh aloud followed by Ayesha and Chottu.
Arjun, however was bewildered with the suggestion and looked at Shree angrily. If looks could kill, Shree would've been a pile of ashes that very moment.
He didn't dare to look at Arjun but instead turned to Lisa for damage control.
She glared at him through narrowed eyes before looking at Arjun, "Sir, we only suggested it, so you would be able to keep a tab on insider information, just like Rathore Sir."
Arjun shook his head dismissing the idea and looked away.
Ayesha however hadn't missed the hint of a smile playing at the corner of his lips. She decided to step in and straightened up, "Okay. So, bartenderwala idea toh flop ho gaya. Can you guys come up with something else?"
Her playful voice uplifted their spirit and that very moment, Shree's eyes fell on the video camera on the table. Without a second thought, he chirped, "Photographer!"
All heads turned to him again and his shoulders slumped in defeat.
Rathore, however thought it made sense and looked at Ayesha questioning her silently. She smiled softly and nodded her head, "I think it's a brilliant idea, kyun Sir?"
"Yes, of course. Hai na Rawte?", Rathore joined in.
Arjun inhaled a deep breath and mentally smacked himself for falling into the mess. He hated undercover operations which required him to act.
But he soon realised that it wouldn't be that bad either. He had always loved doing photography and had even attended a few workshops in the past.
He looked up and found Ayesha waiting for him to speak and was suddenly reminded of the days when she used to betray him and side with Ro to pull his leg.
He didn't realise it but a faint smile slowly crept up his face before he composed himself, "I really don't care about it, Rathore. Mujhe yeh sab pasand nahi hai.."
Before Rathore could lecture Arjun yet again, Ayesha chirped in, "Duty pasand ya napasand se nahi hoti na, Sir? We're seasoned officers and we should be able to adapt when the situation demands it.." She paused and saw him smirk sarcastically. "Hai na, Sir?"
Rathore could only smile at the two friends' reactions and wondered if the wheels had already set into motion.
His wrist-watch beeped alerting him and he spoke up, "Okay then. So, all set. Shree, you have one day to arrange for necessary documents and fake ID's. Get Lisa, Chottu and Ayesha to help you out. We leave for Goa in two days."
Ayesha's smile was wiped off her face when she realised the implications of what lay ahead. However, Arjun and the team's motivated spirit only strengthened her resolve and she decided to let go of her worries for the time-being. She would deal with them when the time came.

Mapusa Market Coffee-shop, Goa.
She dumped the shopping bags on the seat next to her and fanned herself. Karan walked to the table and sat opposite her handing her a chilled ice-tea.
Rosy quickly gulped a couple sips and placed the glass down, "I am never going shopping with you ever again, Mr. Singhania."
Karan pretended to be hurt and chuckled, "I should be the one complaining, Missy.. Aaj ek din mein jitna Goa ghuma hoon, utna poori life mein nahi dekha.."
He shook his head and muttered, "Girls and shopping, deadly combo."
Rosy noticed a childlike smile appear on his face and tapped his hand, "Accha, tumhe bada experience hai? Kitni ladkiyon ko shopping par le gaye ho?"
Karan leaned back in his chair, "Zyada nahi.. Lekin woh ek hi kaafi thi.."
She was surprised to hear him share his personal life and crooked a brow naughtily, "I see.. Kaun thi?"
He shook his head and grinned at the memory, "Jaan.." He paused and smiled, "Janvi.."
It had been more than 6 years since he had met her. They had been neighbours first and then classmates, right through school and college.
Both were poles apart. She was like the calm and soothing cool breeze, an optimist and just the girl next door. While, he had always been a flirt and easy going guy, living each day as it came.
Janvi had always wished for a stable life revolving around her loved ones while he had been a seeker of adventure, wanting to make a place for himself in the big bad world.
He hadn't realised it back then when he had walked out of his parent's ancestral home years ago, but he missed her deeply. Their friendly conversations, the mature understanding they had shared and above all, her mere presence in his life, he had missed all of it.
Rosanna felt as if she could relate to the longing in his trailing words and squeezed his palm gently, "Ab kahan hai?"
He shook his head and let out a deep sigh, "Yahin hai.. She's an investment banker."
Rosy looked at him with a silent question and he shrugged his shoulders, "Life hasn't been fair to her either. She lost her parents in a car crash and lives with her grandmother. I didn't want to add to it.."
She didn't probe any further and tapped his shoulder.
He looked in the direction of her pointed finger and watched the dipping crimson sun..
She looked at him and smiled, "Don't give up on her, Karan. Hang in there.. Who knows, you may get a second chance.."
Karan looked at her intently for a brief moment and shrugged his shoulders, "Did you?" She looked up startled. "Did you give up on life?", he asked.
She met his steady gaze and looked away afraid that he would read too much. Karan looked on and waited for her to answer despite knowing that she wouldn't.
But the unexpected happened when she turned to face him and a soft whisper left her lips, "Maybe I did, Karan."
He glanced at her with wide eyes only to receive a soft, genuine smile in return which meant, some other day.'

2 days later..
Candolim Beach, Goa.
She splashed some cold water on her face and stood with a hand on her hips waiting for Karan to catch up. The beach was already bustling with activity with sunbathing foreigners, visiting tourists and a few like her who went for a usual run on the sandy beach.
Rosy looked back and couldn't find Karan. Just as she fished out her cellphone to call him, her eyes fell on a commotion at the other end of the beach.
She couldn't watch what or who it was that had gathered a female crowd early into the morning but figured it would be some guy showing off his toned body in a pair of trunks.
She heard Karan call out to her and turned on her heel.
He stepped out of the tidal waters in a pair of navy blue swim trunks. Gathering attention was the least he had wanted, but his work demanded it.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. And besides, a cool dip early in the day had been too tempting to resist.
Glistening water droplets ran down from his hair, onto his face and down his toned pectorals before disappearing.
He ran a palm through his hair, brushing his hair back to reveal a high forehead and stepped onto the bare sand.
Lisa gulped nervously and turned to Ayesha who stood swirling her coffee mug in the balcony. "Pinch me, please.."
Ayesha chuckled and closed Lisa's parted mouth, "Shh.. He's for real."
Lisa looked away embarrassed and yet managed to steal a quick glance of him at the beach. She wanted to smack herself for drooling over her senior officer and even wanted to lock herself up to hide the colour rising in her cheeks.
Ayesha noticed the flustered and disoriented girl and held her wrist gently, "Hold your heart, darling. You're in for a lot of surprises."
Lisa shook her head and couldn't help but look at the jaw-dropping sight ahead of her. He had by then grabbed a loose white shirt and a beach towel which only added to the women's frenzy.
The two women looked on as he balanced the handycam neatly in his hand and began clicking pictures of the beach. They grinned widely when a few girls strolled around him, seeking an entry into the frame.
Trust him to be the best at whatever he lay his hands upon. Lisa looked at him for one last time and snapped back to reality.
Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined ACP Arjun Rawte, the no-nonsense supercop in a pair of trunks on the beach in broad daylight.
A dream, that is exactly what it was..
She chuckled and made her way downstairs for breakfast preparing herself for the surprises that awaited her.
