Director Nikhil Advani has been in the industry as a director for 10 years now. He started his journey smoothly with the success of KAL HO NA HO (2003). However, it's been a bumpy ride ever since, with one flop after another! SALAAM-E-ISHQ, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, PATIALA HOUSE, and the unnoticed DELHI SAFARI are setbacks that Nikhil has had to face.
It has come to the point where a lot of people feel that Nikhil's only successful film (KAL HO NA HO) may have been director by Karan Johar instead of him!
Can he finally make a comeback with D-DAY? that is the question!
A few months ago, Taran Adarsh watched 15-20 minutes of the film and he was all praise for it. He hailed it as being stunning and he felt that it will put Nikhil Advani back on top.
Komal Nahta also hailed the 15 mins of what he saw of the film as being brilliant and mesmerizing.
However, the buzz for the film is low. Also, the film is said to have a big budget, which will go against it!
Opening of the film will be on the lower side, especially at mass areas where the masses will instead opt for the more fun/colorful RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA. Opening for D-DAY will be slightly better at multiplexes than single screens I feel. The prescene of stars like Rishi Kapoor, Irfan Khan and Arjun Rampal will help the film's opening a little.
Monday onwards I think the film will sustain on the lower side at the multiplexes, but not enough given the big budget of the film.
My Box Office Predictions for D-DAY:
Opening Day: 3 crores net
Opening Weekend: 10+ crores net
Lifetime Collections: 20+ crores net
Overall Box Office Verdict: Flop
