The narration of Parashurama by Shukracharya to Jalandhar was another airbrush. Jamadagni was not killed while Parashurama was in Gurukul. It happened long after that, when Parashurama was w/ his family. It came about that Kartavirya Arjun had visited the ashram while Parashurama was away, and had his men steal a calf from Jamadagni's cow. For that, Parashurama visited Kartavirya Arjun at night and slaughtered him, including all his 1000 arms and brought back the calf home. Kartavirya's sons then visited the ashram for revenge, and not finding Parashurama there, they killed his father. In retaliation for that, Parashurama massacred not just them, but 21 generations of Kshatriyas.
