I was watching a bunch of old episodes today, and I just wanted to take a quick moment to seriously applaud Abhaas for giving us Shyam. I hated him SO MUCH, perhaps more than my own real life enemies. And that was only possible because Abhaas Mehta is such an astounding and wonderful actor.
He gave the character his full dedication and what came out was an evil that is uncontrollable, knows no limits. An evil which brought forth even more of the beauty between the love of the leads. (Shyam actually had a HUGE role in bringing the two together in the first place. He got Khushi her job, he made Arnav jealous when he was engaged to her, he got rid of the misunderstanding as he kidnapped Arnav, etc)
Abhaas really proved his worth on his show. I remember watching initial episodes, without knowing his true nature, and thinking he seems like a very decent and kind man who saved Khushi's respect. I thought he may indeed be the lead đ But to see how he was able to carry both the images of the ideal son in law as well as the maniacal scum bag is actually quite amazing. It's not a simple feat.
The poor actor had to face so much hate, with people calling him ugly and disgusting and often getting confused between real and reel. I just want to say Abhaas you're amazing! And thank you for giving us the very messed up and imbalanced Shyam!!
Guys, share what your favorite Daiya Ho scene is. Which scene truly captures Abhaas' talent? The scene where you hated him the most perhaps?đł I think mine will have to definitely be the scene where he revealed himself to Sashi and watches him suffer from his heart problem. His evilness was just... I can't even describe it. Abhaas' work in that scene is amazing!
