Given show is off air now and till we get Season 2, we need to bring back old charm and usual discussions we all love on this forum.

So topic for this week is by Jay😎 so has to be dhamake wala😲😆
I am a person who for the most part is oblivious to Indian television. Before Parichay, most of my experience with Indian television comes due to interest of family Little that I have seen growing up my most honest emotion is

I simply fail to understand how come in the name of "drama" and "entertainment", so many daily soaps go on to serve nothing but pure garbage. We Indians like to talk about greatness of our culture and 5000 years of rich civilization.

But when one turns on the tv, do we see any of it? So called "top" shows are full of kitchen politics where family members are after each other, sacred institution of marriage is mocked every where, devious characters dominate show forever and so called leads lack even ounce of self-respect & spine to stand still. Well in short, less said better it is.

But makers of these shows provide one excuse. This is what garners trps; meaning money. After all it is a business and they will do whatever works to get more and more. When people are ready for something different, they will provide it.🤔
So is it masses who are responsible for such state of Indian television? The majority who is responsible for numbers can only find such "drama" as entertaining, thus almost every show continues to serve just that?

If I am not wrong, "trend" of daily soap was not always so dominating in Indian television. We did have weekly shows such as Hum Log that are classic example of quality television. The so called daily soap queen herself started out with joyful lighthearted comedy Hum Panch. But once makers learned that daily soap will get more revenue, masses were so called "programmed".

Well if masses were programmed back then with the change, why can't they be "reprogrammed" with quality television now? Are people really not ready for something different or is it makers who are unwilling to work and be really creative?😕 What is it about "quality" that majority daily soaps stay far far away from it? I know famous and critically acclaimed might not be same, but who says it has to be that forever?

Parichay by far had the best concept Indian television had seen, but even it made attempt to turn into a typical daily soap🤢 not to mention all the bloopers

So finally, my last point is - are we fans of Parichay that much of minority group seeking quality and real creativity that Indian television is not ready to acknowledge us or come up with something that we too can enjoy?

So floor is open for an in depth discussion, let's get rolling people😃

FYI - while I write this, my mother has tv on and I have to restraint myself greatly from throwing something on the screen 😡

Jay good topic 👏. For a change i am glad that you did not bring Global warming here 😆.

You just covered the entertainment perspective of the TV and no doubt that most of the shows sucks🤢 and is waste of time.

But how can we forget that this is the same TV where makers gave us epic like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Krishna, etc and made kids know about our epics and their stories. For many Hanuman became their super hero.

The same media also gave a platform to many hidden talents through its reality shows and tried to increase the general knowledge of the mango people who could not read or write through shows like KBC.

Although the news channel show nothing but masala and more masala at times give insight of some serious issues which I think is worth its cost.

At the end of the day TV is just a media. Its upto us - the consumer to decide what is good for us and what is not. What we watch and what we pass is upto the people and not CVS. They will only show what people are interested in😛

OK, so now we getting it on😛 No worry for global warming, it is always there😉😆
As far as I remember Ramayan & Maharbharat, they were by B R Chopra, real classics. No idea about recent time but I am glad there are such shows as well.

But again I saw one that airs on Zee tv and boy, epic presented like a daily soap While I agree some modifications are required, one should not take too much liberty saying just a fiction so no harm as now they are messing with historical piece

I agree with reality shows that have truly entertained mango people in true sense but then there are also those who would present "reality" in any manner possible to get more numbers. But then that is media in general.

While I agree that at the end fo the day we viewers have the remote but then marketing and availability are also very important & powerful factors 😛

Jay, you seem to be at receiving end by your family these days... 😆 😆
As far as the quality of Indian television shows is concerned, its pathetically down to unexpected levels... & almost all channels airing daily soaps (wouldn't like to name them due to I.F's regulatory policies... 😆) seem to be in a cut-throat competition for wining the title of "Most Nonsensical" of the lot..
To sum it up, I would say that television definitely is an Idiot-Box... & there seem to be no hope that it would be able to shun this tag in near future... especially when such channels & their shows are doing so much of "hard-work"..
As a viewer, your post has reminded me of a song (in response to channels & shows) by Chumbawamba whose lyrics are as follows:
We'll be singing
When we're winning
We'll be singing..

I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down..!! 😆

Hello fellow adversary😉

Yes mom back and so is tv with all the daily soaps I guess now will go to work more days, even if they don't pay me 😆😆

Agree, all channel seems to be doing "hard-work" to cater most disgusting content in name of "drama" and "entertainment". Also you are right that they do not seem to "change" their ways or our pleads along while show was air would have been heard. Not to mention SS fighting with crazy people known as CV would bring fruitful result

But what amazes (more like shocks) me is "masses" who are also of educated group LOVE them😲

well thankfully I am able to find something "better" in true sense, unless I need to seek comic relief 😆
