Post yesterdays episode we are clearly headed in the direction of the creation of Lanka-the land of Lankapati Ravan
i know many people may have found it hideous,funny,perhaps even weird that Parvati is shown making such a demand😆-but there is a very popular story behind it(actually there are many versions-so posting some of them here😃)(although i seriously wish the Cvs could have handled this better without making Parvati look like a tantrum thrower👎🏼)
Point is that Lankas creation itself and it being handed over to Ravan,itself created the foundation towards the Ramayan happening-Ravan getting powerful,misusing his powers and using Lanka as his fortress,the birth of Rama to end his evils,and so on and so forth i guess youll know the rest of the story😊
So in my opinion Parvatis demand,the creation of Lanka and it being given to Ravaan was the beginning of Ravans rise.It was just a means of getting the ball rolling towards the birth of Lord Vishnu in the form of Shri Ram-beacuse somewhere down the line every single event,however small or bit leads to a big happening.Thats what happens here

There is also a story behind the construction of Golden Lanka. When Lord Shiva married Parvati, he asked Vishwakarma to build a beautiful palace for them to reside. Vishwakarma put up a palace made of gold! For the housewarming ceremony, Shiva invited the wise Ravana to perform the "Grihapravesh" ritual. After the sacred ceremony when Shiva asked Ravana to ask anything in return as "Dakshina", Ravana, overwhelmed with the beauty and grandeur of the palace, asked Shiva for the golden palace itself! Shiva was obliged to accede to Ravana's wish, and the Golden Lanka became Ravana's palace.

"Once Narada (a saint and a devotee of Sri Narayana, one of the trinities), went to Parvati (consort of Lord Shiva, one of the trinities) and told her that Lakshmi (Sri Narayana's consort), lives in a beautiful palace while you live in a graveyard and that too in the cold Himalayan mountains.
Listening to this Parvati went to Lord Shiva and told him that she wanted to live in the best palace that the world has ever seen. To satisfy his wifes wishes Lord Shiva had Viswakarma build one of the greatest wonders in the world for a palace. It was a Golden Palace which was so splendid in all aspects that Viswakarma had to say "This is by far my best creation".
It is a custom that the first time someone moves into a house we perform a "Griha Pravesha" homam (house entering ceremony). For this she wanted the "Greatest Brahmin" on earth to perform this ceremony for her.
She called upon Ravana to do it.
Ravana performed the ceremony so well, that Parvati was uttrerly pleased and told Ravana to ask for a boon in return for his service. She said "Ask anything and it shall be yours"
Ravana said "I want this palace" :)
Parvati was totally dumbstruck and angry. Since she was bound by the boon she gave up the palace to him. But also cursed him and said that "This palace and all those who live in this land shall always remain in conflict"
And to this day Lanka remains a place which sees conflicts everyday."

Once Devi Parvati request to Lord Shiva to built a palace. But Shiva denied as he love Vairagya. After several request from Parvati finally Lord Shiva ordered Vishwakarma to build a palace. Vishwakarma went to Lanka Dweepa and built a wonderful palace. Then Lord Shiva wanted to do griha pravesa. At that time King Ravana was doing Tapasya for Lord Shiva. Pleased by his Tapasya, Shiva & Parvati appeared before him. Shiva gave boons. Ravana was Brahmin by birth & a master of four Vedas, so Parvati asked Ravana to perform puja for their griha pravesa. King Ravana accepted and did all Pujas. Pleased by the dedication of Ravana in doing pujas, Devi Parvati told him to take a boon from her and Ravana asked the palace as a boon. Devi Parvati accepted and gave Lanka Palace to Ravana as Dakshina. Then Ravana request Devi Parvati to live in Lanka. Devi Parvati told that she will be in the form of Shankari Devi (Shakti peeth) as long as Ravan follows her word or else she will leave Lanka. But after some time Ravana brought Sita Mata from Lord Sri Rama. Then Shankari Mata told Ravan to return Sita Mata to Sri Rama. But he refused and Shankari Devi left Lanka.
