CHAPTER 18:
Flash back:St Teresa's college: a few years back:
A girl is running in full speed and hits a group of girls. "Are dekh ke chalo na Neha?"
"Wo ...Roshni.. waha... Sikander, Roshan ko bohot buri tharah maar raha hai. stop him, else he will kill him"
"dammit' ye sikender bhi'" Roshni runs to the corridor. There a well built boy is hitting and punching another boy very badly. "Sikander stop it' I said stop it'" he stopped in midair. "kya kar rahe ho tum? Maarne ka irada hai kya?"
"Roshni ye tumhare bare mien kuch kahe tho mien kya karu? Ye bohot galath hai."
"tho tum kaunsa mahan kaam kar rahe ho? Say sorry"
"no never.." he shivering in rage and went away from there. She was just standing there. After a while she saw him sitting alone on the stairs. She sat by him. "Gussa ho?" no reply. "Sikander look at me" still no reply. "Sikander look at me please'" now he couldn't stop looking at her.
"Sikander apne gusse par kabu karna seekho. Warna bohot bura hoga. Kya patha tunmhare ye gussa kisike jaan he na lejaye' mere bhi.."
"stop it Rosh' don't you dare to say that again."
"ok nahi kahungi' ab haath dikhao, kaafi blood aaraha hai." he didn't allow, still she took his hands and started dressing the wounds. "Waise tum usse maar kyu rahe the? Aise kya kaha tha wo mere bare mien?"
"wo tumhe propose karne ke bare mien keh rahe the"
"tho usme bura kya hai? yaar, koi kisiko propose karne ka malab ye tho nahi ke hamesha uske hi hoga. Kab sudronge tum? Aise zid math kiya karo' ok?" he nodded and she continued dressing the wounds.
She had a great effect on him. The only who could handle his rage.
"Rosh, I cant believe this' tumhare paas acha khasa engineering digree hai, programming aur sab mien bhi achi ho' fir bhi tum ek NGO ke saath teacher banne wali ho.? Aur tumhare wo job ka kya? Yaar MNC mien ache salary bhi milegi. Fir ghar basaana' aur baath bache' in sab ke beech ye teacher wali idea kaha se aayi?"
"Sik, tum nahi samjhonge' wo 4 deevar wale cubicle me meri dum ghutengi. Mujhe khule hawa chahiye."
"lekin bacho ke beech ke khule hawa kuch zyada nahi hai kya?" she couldn't hold her smile. He could never adjust with kids. "kuch bhi zyaada nahi hai' I'll love it. Astha ek bohot ache team hai, jaha gareeb bachomko sikhathe hai. aur waise kushiya sirf salary se nahi aur bohot kuch se milthe hai. aur rahi tumhare baath, tum join karne wale ho' aur iss baar koi gadbad nahi hona chahiye. Aur koi hacking wacking nahi' ok?"
She joined astha and he joined a MNC. He was good at softwares and programming, infact the best. So going up the levels was not a trouble for him. He had contact with Roshni to keep his attitude under control.
Few months later: evening news:
"Aaj subah 7 athankwadiyon ne ki ek school pe hamla'. NGO se chalanewale Astha naam ke ek school, jaha gareeb bachon ko sikhaya jatha hai, waha ye hamla hua tha. Athankwadiyone kuch students aur ek teacher ko bandi banaya tha' reports se ye patha chalha hai ke Ms. Roshni naam ke ek teacher aur kuch students andar the. Lekin Mumbai police ke ek bahadur team ne ek bohot hi khatharnaak thareeke se unn sabko bachaya. Anth ke bomb blast mien Ms. Roshni aur kuch police officers ko chot lagi hai. unhe M. H Hospital legaya hai'"
Sik was shocked and rushed out to to the hospital. He rushed to Roshni who were just having some bruises. She was looking onto the kids. He ran and took her hands. "Rosh, tum teek tho ho na? kahi zyada chot tho nahi lage? Chalo I'll drop you home"
"Sik, I'm fine. Par mien abhi nahi ja sakthe. Bache yaha hai. they are frightened. Aur mjhe wo officer se bhi milna hai jisne meri jaan bachayi. Agar won a hothe tho'." He stopped her, but she continued. "aaj sabere class chal rahe the. Achanak kuch log agaye, wo bhi guns leke. Sab bohot dar gaye the. Kaha ke wo hame maar dalenge. Fir dari hui bohot saari ghante' mujhe meri bachonke bohot fikar horahe the. Thank god, wo police wale agaye. Patha nahi kaha se' wo log agaye... bohot firing thi' patha nahi kithne logonko chot lage the. Fir 2 officers aye' wo baari baari mien bachonko baahar le jarahe the. At last 2 bache aur mien hi the. Achanak firing shuru hui.he kept me in a safe place aur baachonko legaye. Then he came back. Hum bahar nikalne hi wale the, thab unhone ek bomb ko dekha. We jumped out of the window. Baahar athe hi, piche blast. He was covering me, thaaki mujhe kuch na ho. Baad mien ye pucha ke mien teekh tha ke nahi. I was alright, bas thode dari thi. But I felt I was safe with him. Thab hi mujhe patha chala ke uske piche ek wooden piece laga tha, piche shoulder pe. Blast ke waqt hua hoga' he was in pain, par usse sirf mere hi fikar tha'" she kept on speaking. Sik was happy that she was fine. But somewhere he felt a change, the way she spoke about this unknown man, the concern she showed' well he was greatful to him... stil...
"Sik, kaha khogaye ho tum? Please take me to him' please.." he nodded and took her. They reached a room. A man was sleeping sideways as there was bandage on his back. They couldn't see the face as he was facing the opposite side. A doc was comig out. "Doc' hows he?"
"darne ke koi baath nahi hai' khathre se baahar hai, lekin ghav thoda gahrah hai' bharne mien time lagega' now excuse me.." he went by. Sik was standing by the door and she stood near to the legside of the bed. A man came in to her, "Excuse me, can I help you?" he was the other officer, who was helping the kids.
"sorry... mien.. bas..." but he stopped her in between. "Of course you are that teacher... how are you mam? Aur bache?"
"all fine sir, thanks to you all... I hope he is fine" he mentioned the one in bed. "don't worry mam, he is a fighter. He'll be fine. Btw I'm Sameer Rathod, his friend" he lent his hands. She shook it. "hi, I'm Roshni" a nurse came in and took Sameer out to the doctor. Roshni slowly moved to the other side of the bed, facing him. Sik could see her face. There was concern' happiness' worry' and somthig more' something that hurt his heart'.
Next day she went to visit him. He was trying to sit up, but was wincing in pain. She didn't see anyone who could help him. She went in and held onto his shoulders. He was a bit surprised. He kept on looking at her, while she was adjusting the pillow in right position. She felt a bit awkward when he kept looking at her. She left his shoulder. Both of them were embarrassed. "Are you alright?" she broke the silence.
"yes... thanks... so... ap wo teacher hai? right? Aap yaha kaise?kahi chot tho nahi lagi thi aapko?"
"no Si... mien tho aise hi... bas aapse milne..." she lowered her eyes. He smiled a bit. "aaj school nahi jana? Bache kya kahenge?"
"aaj Sunday hai... tho chuti..."
"oh.. ya... bhool gaye..." now he was embarrassed. "btw I'm Arjun... Arjun Rawte..." he gave his hand for a shake hand. But then, winced in pain. She took his hand in concern. "sambhalke... chot abhi thak bhara nahi hai..." she was looking worried. He smiled and she smiled back. "waise...I'm Roshni." There was silence for a while... then they slowly started speaking. It was a new beginning.
Sikander knew about the new friend, Arjun. she used to speak about him. He didn't understand why it always hurt him, when she spoke about him. But he never said anything. Roshni unaware of his feelings, shared her thoughts with him. He was her best friend.
Arjun and Roshni met many times later. They had a strong friendship.
One day:
"Sik... jaldi kar yaar... aise male trial room ke samne khade hona... Its embarrassing..." Roshni was fed up of waiting. Sik was inside trying a shirt. "Yaar... meine bhi thera aise hi intezaar kiya tha... wo bhi female trial room ke samne... yaad hai? college days mien?"
"tu tho aise keh rahe hai ke jaise koi punishment tha. I swear you were enjoying it. ladkiyaan aarahe the.. dress change kare... tumhare samne catwalk pe chale... you were enjoying it right?"
"girls were fine... lekin kabhi kabhi auntyan athe the... Horrible yaar..." Roshni was giggling outside.
"Are Roshni? Tum yaha kya kar rahe ho?" Sikander heard a new male voice outside. "Hai... Arjun...wo mien mere friend ke wait kar rahe the..." ARJUN... again?? He came out quickly.2 men were standing by her. young, handsome, wellbuilt man. One look at her, confirmed it was Arjun. Sik came to them.
"ok... ready hogaye tum? Good...Sikander, ye hai Arjun and Sameer...Wahi jinhone meri jaan bachayi thi... and Arjun, this is Sikander, my friend." They shaked hands. "Arjun... kaffi thareef suna hai aapke bare mien"
"meine bhi Sikander ke bare mien kaafi suna hai...from your friend." He was smiling.
"I really doubt that..." Sikander said sarcastically. Arjun noted it, while she rolled her eyes.
Sameer: ab nayi dosti hui hai tho kyuna saath mien khana khaye?
Roshni: great idea...hai na Sik?
Sik: sorry yaar... I think I should go. Ek zaroori kaam hai
Roshni: but you toldyo u were free today
Sik: I have to go, Rosh... see you later. Bye guys. (he shook hands and went by)
Arjun: lagtha hai ke aapke dost bura mangaye.. sorry...
Roshni: its ok. I know him. Mien manalungi.
Sameer: tho chale... kaafi bhoog lag rahe hai
They went by. But Sik was noticing them. Arjun was so busy with Roshni, that he missed the intense looks of Sik.
Sameer noticed his friend getting friendly with a girl for the first time. He was so happy...he made a lame excuse of meeting someone and went by. That left Arjun and Roshni alone. They were so comfortable with each other.
There was a change in the air... a new friendship was beginning... and a new hatred...
PRECAP:
"Sikander... please don't hurt him... I love him..."
